Ice blocks are all purple/black checked with optifine for me. Can't see to find a way to fix it. It really feels very mystical because I tried replacing the new ice with the old ice that worked, checked all the folders and there doesn't seem to be any CTM or anything to break.

Yea, something changed with optifine which broke it as far as I can tell. I'm putting out an update just a bit later today that fixes this issue and adds some more new stuff though so stay tuned!
I don´t really like the random CTM so far because it doesn´t blend in well with the regular texture. You can easily see the borders of each tile (especially since they are quite clearly split into horizontal, diagonal and vertical shapes) which somehow defeats the purpose of the whole thing in my opinion.
Also the ores could use a bit more of embedding. You might even make use of the old texture here because I really like how it works together with the new stone on the first screenshot you posted on this page.
I've made the variation more subtle since the pictures above because I agree, it was much too obvious that there was a completely different block so it does look improved now. I've also tweaked the numbers that determine how often each variant appears so I think it's looking quite nice now.
As for the ores... I know what you mean. I actually started adding cracks around the gold, iron, emerald and diamond because I also liked how the looked with the old stone but it's definitely not obvious enough. I do like how the lapis, coal and redstone look currently though, the colours of those blend in much more nicely than the other 4 ores which helps them look much more natural.
Here's a pic of the 'cracks' I did add (does look pretty half hearted :P). I think your idea of just nicking the old stone texture for them is a good idea though, I'll definitely grab a bit of it since the ores are were all made with the old stone in mind so the ores are conveniently placed for the cracks in the old stone.
You can also see a bit of the tweaked stone, I personally think it looks pretty good now. Yes it's still a little obvious that there are different blocks in there for some of the variants but it's a lot better IMO. I'll also tweak the edges of the stone variants to see if I can make them even more natural while I'm cracking up the ores a bit more though.
Yeah I can definitely see the improvement and I´m sure you are going to carry it off how you want it to be at last. The tile on the right of the bottom right gold ore sticks out the most now, but apart from this it should all be fine tuning now.
By the way, you are kinda heading into a more plastic/realistic style by now, similar to the wayukian pack, which makes the dirt (and most likely a whole bunch of other textures) looking rather dull in comparison. So are you actually aware of what you have started with your fancy reworking-fundamental-stuff attitude? ;D
Thanks moo! And yea, unfortunately I am...
That's the curse of texture packs I suppose, even once you've done all the textures, you still aren't done as there's always something to improve unless you get it bang on first time like wayuki and levaunt tend to do!
I have a little list of textures I plan on redoing/improving. So far it includes sand, dirt, jungle logs and I need to tweak the shading on the stonebricks because the shading on them is currently just a few specks of noise which looks a bit weird. I want the shading to look a bit more like the granite block I have in this pic:
So yea, few things that need improving but there's nothing else that REALLY sticks out at me so far. Knowing me, I'm sure that'll change soon enough though. Also, feel free to add any suggestions for textures that could do with a rework, I'll probably add them to the list!
Hmm...not sure I like the new stone, but the brick things look great.
I think it's one of those things that you just need to play around with for a bit. It's really very different from my old stone texture so it might seem a bit strange compared to old versions of the pack but after playing with it for a bit I really do much, much prefer it to the old one.
Hopefully you guys will get a feel for it after I release the update anyways. If not then the 'chunky stone' addon pack should do the trick anyway!
Anywho, I'm currently just trying to fix a couple more things before I release the update. Just want to fix up the reeds biome colour stuff with MCPatcher and tweak the shading on the stonebricks and we'll be good to go. The only issue I'm having is finding what to change to remove the biome colours for reeds but hopefully it shouldn't take too long. I mean, it's just one small thing, right? *famous last words*
Hey thanks for the textures. I recently upgraded my heavily modded minecraft to 1.6.4 but my 1.4.7 John smilth pack I put so much effort into personalizing is now unusable. Instead of waiting for the texture community to make some 32x mod patches I decided it would be easier to find a 16x pack so the default mod textures dont stand out too much, all I had to do is whip up a few ore textures using your stone as a background. But the mod textures stand out like a sore thumb alongside your excellent work. Its really interesting how much better a tiny 16x16 texture can look when its made by someone who knows what they are doing. Wish Mojang would have bothered to hire an actual artist.

I agree, would be nice if mojang had a proper artist to do their textures, but then if they did have a good artist, who would use my pack?
Also guys: Update time!
That's right, I've uploaded the latest version (2.4) so that's ready to go. There's a full changelog in the OP as well as updated download links. Enjoy!

Ooo! Goody! A nice treat for the weekend. I've been lookin' forward to this, Sheep. Thanks for all your efforts and time.
Now get some college work done! (runs away super quickly)
Well I can understand that using both together might cause some issues... Can't you just use opti or just use MCPatcher? Because I think this is a mods issue, not an issue I can fix with my pack.
I'm pretty sure optifine doesn't support CIT at the moment so there's nothing I can do about that if so. Correct me if I'm wrong though! If it does support it then I'll have a look at my files, might be something optifine specific I need to add...
Yup, I will indeed. Thanks for reminding me though, it will only take about 15 minutes or an hour if I add some custom ctm for it too. I'll get to work on it tomorrow (and hopefully upload it too!).
Just wondering what happened to the update, it's been 2 weeks since you said you'd upload it, yet still nothing. You know we understand if RL gets you busy but, come on, you shouldn't hype us like this for you to go suddenly dark.

This is my signature. Yes, there's nothing interesting here, so carry on.
Wait, which update is this? If it's the rough stone pack thing then yea, I should upload that... It's completely done too. Gimme about 30 mins now and I'll organise the OP and do it now (I actually will this time).
If it's an update to the main pack, IIRC it's been updated and I haven't actually talked about what I've been working on since. Which is lilypads, jungle logs, unique birch and big oak leaf colours for default (aka, no MCPatcher, they look really neat), halfslabs and horses (including horse armour) for those who are wondering.
And yes, real life has gotten rather busy indeed the last week due to a load of assignments being given to me all at once. I swear they organise this so that we end up with 4 assignments at the same time... It's not cool...
PS: Sorry for the silence everyone, just been very very busy like I said.
EDIT: Rough stone addon is uploaded, links in the usual section of the OP. Enjoy!
Now I'll be away for a little bit more, most likely about a week. After that week my assignments and tests should be out of the way for a while and I'll once more be posting pics of progress. I'll still be working on the pack during this period so hopefully I'll have some neat things to show you (I already have a fair load of new things to share actually :))

Yeah, I was talking about the stone pack. Thanks for the explanation.

I really like the idea of a rough addon, you nailed it pretty well. The CTM'll be interesting with your skills, I'm up to see it
Thanks hoodoo! I made it a little bit lighter from the pic so it blends in with stone better and I also changed tiling a little bit.
Anyways, hopefully I'll release this with ctm next week after wednesday. Got a test then so I'm gonna be quiet from now till then, gotta get busy studying!
Yup, still busy with uni atm. Got a maths test this thursday as well as another next week and going to get a lab report next week to do too.
Gonna have a break after that though so I'll post some more pictures of some stuff I've done. Just been working very quietly but I have been making some progress with dirt ctm, some colouring changes and horse textures.
Sorry for the silence though guys, just a little bit more to go now.

Curse PremiumAhhh, masterfulgamer, are you using any mods? (optifine?)
Because my skybox and arrows work perfectly, never had any problems with them and all the testing I've done with them has been fine...

Curse PremiumStill working on it but it's kinda interesting IMO. Been wanting to make a new dirt for a while.
Think I need to make it a little bit smoother though, then I can add larger chunks and other interesting things with CTM.
