Yep I liked the old one too. How about leaving the old one in the pack and creating a new addon pack with the alternative (new) gravel?
As mentioned above I personally like the new one too much NOT for it to be default so if I did an addon pack it would be with the old one. I think once you guys use the new one in-game a little bit you'll like it a lot more, it's certainly grown on me!
If you don't like it straight away you can just copy and paste the old one into the pack for the time being, because thinking about it now, it seems a little silly to do an addon pack for just ONE texture imo. Lucky it really will be just as easy as copy and pasting though, it would be a lot more complex with the old format! To help appease you guys I made some new ores (redstone and emerald still to come) and a new bed too. Can you forgive me for changing the gravel?
"In response to this, here is a new gravel. It should be easier to see the difference between it and dirt!" thanks for the gravel i like it allot.

Dirt does have CTM now actually, I've added little rocks and little tiny grass sprouts with random CTM. The rocks one looks very similar to the old gravel so its another reason for changing it. That said, it seems nobody likes the new gravel... Any particular reason?
That's the thing though, to me it just seems like a bunch of small stones and crushed rock which is exactly what gravel is... I don't know if I can make it look more like gravel...
Also another problem, I'm getting conflicting reports about it either looking too much like dirt, not enough like dirt, etc. Maybe that just means I've found the perfect balance?
In any case it will be as is for the next update and I can change it or tweak it later as I have a time limit for this update. Going to Japan on Friday morning so the update MUST be out by then so gravel is the least of my priorities right now.

It looks like a modern gravel path, i.e default, and that clashes with the medieval feel of your pack. Also default is boring and is the reason we're using Pixel Perfection
If you wanted to you could try styling your gravel like SMP or Steelfeathers: muddier, rockier. You'd probably be able to make something good out of it, although there's really not much you CAN do with gravel at that point (and even less when you make a default-style gravel)
But you'd probably get a lot more out of trying something unique with it. Not many actually try and make gravel look like a path or a road, despite that being it's main use outside of flint-gathering in Survival.
Maybe you could make it look like cobblestones half-buried in grass, or downtrodden dirt, or some other stuff. Crushed rocks, dirt or not, are just uninteresting. You could do so much better.
You could make CTM so the cobbles become more clustered and ordered in the center of a wide path, or give the dirt path a grass border so it blends beautifully with the greenery. Really, there's just so much people can do with gravel if they'd just start thinking outside the "default" box.
But, ah, I guess there are be reasons people don't do it more often. Contrast, how it looks naturally generated, effort, etc. Gravel may just not be worth it, I guess.
When I get home from helping my friend out later I'll try a quick edit on the gravel, maybe add another stone colour (maybe even a darker brown like the dirt) and then resize a couple of pebbles in it or something.
I won't spend too long on it though, just want to get everything else (packed ice, finish the new emerald ore and wheat) done and then if I have time I'll take another look at the gravel.
It's a little weird though, I actually still think the new gravel looks much better for paths and everything than the other did and still feels rather rustic/worn like it should be in my pack. That might just be because I'm biased due to making it or I've been using it in-game though!
Anyways, like I said, I'll throw in some colour and variety, see if that helps it fit in a little better! Thanks again for the feedback everyone!

Just my two gravel cents...
While I do love the Pixel Perfect pack, it does have a downside too concerning gravel.
Look at a path from gravel and cobblestones with the standard vanilla textures and compare it with PP...
I find the default looking better... So any changes towards a more stoney gravel would be great. Muddy gravel just doesn't cut it for me.
Example path default with vanilla textures:
Same example path seen with PP:
XXSheep, you're doing an amazing job with your textures!
Well the new gravel isn't going to be so dirty because I agree with you, dirty travel just isn't doing it for me anymore. I'd much prefer something that's actual gravel rather than dirt.
Deo, hopefully adding some more colour and chunk side variation will make it more unique too!
Ok. this is how I'm gonna leave it till all other textures are done. I've changed chunk size and added a lighter chunk colour as well as another darker shade that I splashed around the place a little to make it more varied. I also quickly made a mockup of a path to show how it blends with cobble, grass and mossy cobble (which is new btw, I changed the colours, texture and shading of the moss, meant to look like leaves more than anything) Also some sneaky previews of new wheat in the background.
Once again, let me know your thoughts, and feedback on it so I can write them down for later.
EDIT: Interesting comparison, here's what everything looked like last update (the one you guys have access to)

Just packed ice now and I'll release the update. I've also just updated the grass pack with an alternate double tall-grass and I'll hopefully have time to upload the fantasy tree thing tomorrow too.
So far for the update we have:
-new ores with random ctm (variants for each ore)
-new animated dropper, dispenser, both vertical and horizontal
-new furnace
-new redstone dust, block and item
-new wheat with random ctm for full grown stage
-new carrots texture (crop, not item although item had colour tweaks)
-new grass with random ctm and new sidegrass to match
-new gravel
-new dandelion
-new mossy cobble and mossy stonebrick
-new dirt random ctm
-new minecart and boat with new icons for both
-new skybox (just daytime for now, will have to finish night time one once back from japan)
-changed font colour a little bit, it's creamier and easier on the eyes
-new cyan bed and bed item
-new wools
-new cauldron
-new podzol
-new double fern
-tweaks to glass ctm and also a couple of stained glass colours
-new rail textures with animated powered rails
-new sandstone textures (for each type including smooth, carved and normal)
-birch sapling colour tweaks
-tweaked, remade and improved many item textures
-probably more that I've forgotten because I don't keep a list as I'm working.

tl;dr: path > gravel
Also, have a nice trip!

Curse PremiumThanks, glad to know at least one is onboard! Now to wait and see what everyone else thinks...
Also, here's the dirt ctm I have so far, I forgot to show it off before (note the old gravel-esque one?).
