when i first saw this, it looked cool. it seemed similar to the grid pack i used way back in beta 1.7.3. and i really want to like it, but there's some things that look... stupid. i like a lot of the simpler blocks, but the ones that try to get too complicated (without achieving the intended look, no offense) such as the lapis all the ores, the minecart, etc. just look odd.
i could live with everything though, if i removed the mob modifications. they look... T.T
i still want to like it though. i just think some of the blocks are trying too hard to have super details inside 16x.

Unfortunately, I have to say that I agree with you completely. I'm torn between not wanting things to just be palette swaps of the same pattern, and having things get overcomplicated like you mention. Lapis in particular I've never had a solid idea for, so it remains kind of awkward. The things with more complicated models (carts, boats, mobs, whatever) are also an issue because of the way the textures are applied (legs are just mirrored for instance, which makes the fake perspective impossible to achieve). Some of them I'm quite proud of (ghasts), some of them not so much (zombies).
I appreciate your feedback and as I'm updating for 1.4 I'll make sure to look back over the things you mentioned and, hopefully, improve them.
Edit: I should add, of course, that if you don't like specific parts you can always remove them!

Speaking of which, update! All hostile mobs done, finally added brewing stands, and a whole slew of minor changes to terrain elements.

Good point! Added a mob image to the OP.

They look even cooler in this picture. Heh, the zombie looks happy.
I never thought the universe made much sense.
Is there anything in particular you don't like about them? I'm always open to suggestions. Either way, I'm glad you liked it. ^^
