Optifine doesn't need Forge, ML, or FML. It works on it's own. It's standalone. I'm running it right now with just TMI cause I'm waiting for mods to update.
Most mods that needs Forge is going Universal. Meaning that it will work on SSP and SMP. No need for multple files for the same thing anymore.
Most things that need ML will work with FML; they are the same in a sense. It's just that FML will need Forge to work without any hiccups.
Also, in installing Forge, you have to install it before anything else in a clean .jar and run it before adding anything else. Learned that one the hard way. Thank god for backups.
/two sense on the modding scene
And to add: I love that we are getting random ores and other textures. Makes things nice and interesting and, honestly, more realstic vuv Plus a friend of mine has fallen totally in love with this pack and that's all she'll talk about when we talk about Minecraft.

I noticed something while using this pack.
If you use this pack while listening to the Ocarina Of Time
Soundtrack (This goes for Dandelion too), the music seems
to fit the textures eerily well Oo

I have a song actually titled Dance of the Dragon I listen to when using any packs by Steel. Just because its so uplifting and light-hearted. Maybe we could trade our songs sometime.

Sad that it's only 64x (might not run great on my computer...) but it's such a beautiful-looking pack that I'm going to download and try it out anyway. Wonderful work on it! I can't wait to see it for myself.

Install Optifine.
Even with a really crappy computer you should still be able to run 256x and under with at least 30 FPS.
I really really really love this texture pack, it is my new favorite and will probably never not be my favorite, but even though I love how you made the ores have two textures, I would rather the default texture be the one that looks more natural so that when I mine iron, I see a block of iron in my inventory instead of a block of sword-in-rock in my inventory
Seriously! I am like speechless. This is the best pack i have EVER seen. I can't wait until it is done. And how do you do it? I have tried for so long now to try and make a texture pack like this. HOW!!! it is depressing when i see peoples texture packs and and than i look at mine and all mine are crap because I don't fully understand how to do it yet :'(. But any way GREAT PACK! when you are finished I will non stop continue to use this pack.

Curse PremiumInstall Optifine.

It really works
Unless your computer has an FPS cap under 30...
That would be impossible then...
