You could always recolor the left one to have iron center with gold/diamond/whatever outer part. Both absolutely need to be in this pack.
Rgg... I want to make 64x items... but I'm not a 64x guy. I tried getting textures the way I would want to do them. Perhaps a more defined theme would help.

The sword already looks good.. but that'd just look absolutely amazing.
oh dear god DONT MAKE US CHOOSE! well the left strikes me as 'Elvin'. So, take that as you will. You could always use whichever one you don't use, and recolor it for another sword.
The swords... don't make me choose! They're so amazing... God I wish this was finished.
Oh and keep the handle as it is, swords with the handle too long always bug me. I like to see a small (but not too small) handle and a big blade. Don't change it :]
Just tried it out and looks fabulous!
Would be nice if it would have some tekkit & technic textures in it like PureBDCraft because damn this is a work well done.
As well planning to do bigger resolution? 128 perhaps?
While I might do mod support at some point in the future, I don't plan to do those mods, since I don't use them. Sorry.
I also can't/won't do a higher resolution-- unlike sphax, which is a vector pack and easily resized, everything in this pack is hand drawn. I would have to remake everything from scratch, and there's no way I'm going to do that.

I play pvp and I am often greeted with a player holding a sword. It just looks bad when the sword doesn't fit Steve's hand imo. Even the default pack does the sword correctly.
Oh wow, talk about contrary opinions, haha. Here's my thoughts:
In a perfect world, I'd like to have the sword fit perfectly in steve's hand. Unfortunately, steve has a big-ass hand, and the swords are only one block long, which necessitates a short-sword style. While I could shorten the one of the left a few pixels, the one on the right is styled to be a long sword, and the process of making it shorter would also make it look uber derpy. Also, I'm super excited about being able to hang my swords on the wall with the new picture frames, so I'm more interested in making them look like beautiful swords then making sure they fit perfectly into a blocky hand (which can't really hold them correctly in the first place, so to me it's not really that big of a deal if some clipping occurs).

I meant overall outlining, as in darker colors near the edges. Which is done very well on the left one.
In my personal opinion, the left one is the obvious winner, but since it is your pack all I can tell you is that the left one is awesome and "choose wisely"

Curse PremiumI really, REALLY love the left one!
It's so bulky and awesomely huge
And spiky and jagged.
The other one is too smooth and elvish IMO.
And it's not outlined at all.
Definitely the left one (the first one)
If it helps, I decided to do my own jungle logs with little vines in them.
Also it looks very cool when the actual vines overlap the log vines.
And then I made my logs mossy too, but it is a processed block so I was being a bit unrealistic.
The point is, if you still need an idea, you could always put vines
And finally, please don't change the glowstone like you said in the OP.
I really like it! It's so fantastic and crystally!
If anything, there's always the glowstone lamp!
And alternate textures.
I'm sorry for rambling, so good luck on making the best pack ever even better, steelfeathers.

The left one isn't outlined either.
That message about the glowstone is way old, back from when it looked like popcorn. I'm keeping the glowstone the way it looks now.
But then that would throw off the proportions of the sword. Besides, who plays on third person view with the camera facing steve anyway?
