You Sir have stunned me by the amount of detail going into this pack, i have always felt dissapointed that most sci-fi packs were for model building but you dear sir proved them wrong. and to top it of, you are giving each item a back-story to explain its existence, this creates an immersive texture pack, my hat goes of to you.

Thanks! Keep checking back every week or so. I have big plans.
Wow, it's been a while since I checked it...
You finally posted the big update! I'm so excited, haha
Downloading it right now, time to build a spaceship!

Yeah, I realize that took forever, but I hope it was worth it! Can't wait to see what you build, and no problem!
I'm redoing the old diamond armor since it doesn't look good compared to the iron armor. If you never even saw the old armor, don't worry, I've been wanting to replace it for a while. I'm making it to look more like the enderman's armor (in-universe they are both made of the same material, the alien artifact---which is diamond). It is the only armor type that isn't exclusively used for the player, so the idea is that the armor can shift it's matter to adapt to whatever organism is wearing it. This means it will have an actual visor since humans don't have 4 eyes, and it also explains any minor changes I make.
I've decided for leather armor that armor will be actual grey leather layered over camouflage cloth. So when you go to dye it, you can dye the camouflage to blend in with the environment.
That's pretty much what I've been working on. Thoughts?
Alright everyone, I'm taking a long break from the development of this pack due to the approaching release of Halo 4. I've been waiting for it for a long time, and undoubtedly it's going to take up most of my time. I will still be working on this pack every once and a while...but I definitely won't be posting here as often with updates. After my interest for this game dies down (which admittedly, will take a long time), I will resume working on this pack.
I'm sure most of you (since you are obviously SciFi fans to download this pack), will be getting Halo 4 anyway, so it's not much of a problem. Also I'd like to say that any and all of this may change. One day I might really decide I want to work on this and push out an update. It would be easier for you to subscribe, and then you will be notified if such a thing does occur.
Cant wait for this to be updated, its a really good texture pack, PUT IT ON FRONT PAGE PL0x?
That would be wonderful...perhaps when I get some more work done they'll think about it I've taken a break on this pack for now, but as always you can follow this pack to be notified when I post next.
But I hope to see you continue this pack someday, and have fun with Halo 4.
I certainly have, but don't worry. It's not the first time I have tooken a break on this texture pack. Last time, when I came back I had a fresh look at it, and I think I might not have gotten this far if I hadn't. I'm just a little burnt out...but I have been having a few ideas rising to the top with that pressure off my shoulders. I've been writing it all down. When I return, I've got even bigger plans.
I'm back! I wasn't gone nearly as long as I thought I would be, but I'm ready to start work again. I've had lots of ideas for this texture pack. Check by Friday for a huge timeline of when everything will be finished, and a release date. Until then, spread the word! Use my pack's signature if you don't already have one, and tell your friends about this!
Woo, update! I really like this pack, but just a few notes (probably because I can't texture and this pack fits my scifi needs...
CTM Glass please (CTM is when it connects so rather than blocks, it's a stretch of blank glass with a frame, for example)
New water (but that's on the list)
Non-Default Grass (forget if that's on the list)
1.4 Stuff (Potatoes, Beacon, Nether Star, etc...)
Think that's probably it. I'm using this as a creative pack, but ya'know...

I've been thinking of adding CTM support...I'll work on that for a future update. New water is something I definitely should do, but I'm at a loss right now what it should be. Grass is going to be in this update later today. 1.4 stuff is in the works for a update thats pretty close.
Mainly, most of this will be covered later today. I plan to release a schedule that gives dates for the updates all the way up to release, and what they pertain.
It took all day, but its here! I hope you guys are still awake to see it As you can see its mostly retextures of old stuff, but there is some new stuff in there as well. Tell me what you think.
The main thing is not the update however, but this timeline. It maps my future progress all the way until release. As you will see the updates will come out of Fridays and will come out either a week or two weeks after the last depending on the amount of time I estimate it will take to finish. It is a loose timeline, designed so that if I run into complications and must leave a few blocks off an update I can recover later. Without further ado:
So, first off, I'd like to say that my faith in minecraft has been greatly lifted after reading through this.
As for some ideas and such:
Your concern as to how to implement spider eyes for the brewing of 'Medicines', Perhaps you could make spider eyes some sort of chemical or fluid collected from the mechanical spiders that would be essential to chemistry. Maybe an acid or simply call it "solvent".
Personally, I think that you should try to really experiment with the flora a bit. Grass on Earth is green due to chlorophyll, but perhaps grass and other plants of Elios IV are a reddish-orange colour due to them absorbing the light of a blue star, rather than a yellow one. Also, and this is simply a personally preference of mine, I think the trees should be more.. natural. As in, not pipes and such. I do like what you've done with the planks though. Very nice.
Lastly, The language pack. It seems to me that you have a nice mix of both human derived words (commonite, Andranite, Void Walkers) and Alien terms (Vannix, Gwana turtle, Xio'Geni parasites). As a language nerd, and one that's somewhat interested in Xenolinguistics, I think that you should definitely create a double language pack. One with alien terms for things, and one for human terms. For example, although your parasites go by the name Xio'geni, perhaps the original colonists gave them a nickname of sorts, such as 'crawlers' or 'scuttlers'. Two language packs would of course be a daunting task. So perhaps stick to a theme. Alien terms for flora and fauna, and human terms for minerals and everything else.
Anyways, that's just my two cents. Overall though, it looks like it is going to be an amazing texture pack. And I look forward to its completion.

I like your idea for spider eyes, first of all. I'll probably do that. As for grass, yes I have been messing around trying to get a cool color scheme for each biome. I wanted Elios to be a diverse planet like Earth, so different biomes will have different grass colors. At least one biome will have green grass if that is needed in adventure maps, while the rest have other colors.
The tree thing is something that I regrettably had to give in to. The problem is that because iron and gold blocks are so hard to craft, I doubt anybody playing this on survival is going to be able to make a house out of it. So I had to make some of the common materials, I.E. wood and stone into metal as well. So this is something unlikely to change.
I doubt I'll have time for two language packs, but you make an interesting point about sticking to themes. Perhaps I will think of the name the void wanderers call themselves and stick to that. Some of the peaceful mobs are named more human sounding names because they were brought in from human colony worlds.
I'm changing the name of next fridays update to "farming update" instead of "misc update 2". Its still going to have the same stuff, but the name fits better for the overall update. Of course, that means the update after is "misc update 2" instead of three. What do you guys think of the new update?
