Alrighty!! Finished the update, so it's no longer small(ish)!
If you've downloaded an older copy, this would be a version to update to. I fixed up at least 6 blocks since the last update. Here are the screenies:
Old Screenshots
Iron ore
Redstone...
Now, these next two are my precious. I am super happy with how they turned out! (Doesn't mean I won't accept advice though!)
Moss versions of Stone Bricks, and Cobblestone:
The cracked bricks, well they didn't turn out as fancy
Netherbrick-a-brak:
Leaves me alone! (sigh)
Iron fencing:
Trapdoor:
Last, but not least, Jacobs good friend; the ladder:
So there ya go folks! Large update for ya! I will finish the ores for the next one, and adjust the stone (and other ores) so that they mesh well together. Until then, hook me up with some helpful hints! My list of "fix-its" seems to be lacking
I had the photoshop CS2, but my laptop decided it didn't want to work anymore. I mean, I only gave it a little coffee!!
Anyway, yeah, GIMP. Which is why the earlier versions of the TP were not "up to par"
EDIT--
Err, it missed part of my post...
They were "not up to par" because I am still learning the program
well you might wanna start using the pencil tool and lay off the smudge tool i mean i am using photoshop CS5 but both programs a basically the same. :/ and i am basically just a kid and i personally think i make better textures just all you need is practice

Well we both know age has nothing to do with anything of substance. (At least not in the art realm!)
As for smudge tool, I don't use that. In fact, I edit the texture pixel by pixel at one point.
Now, may I please have some constructive critique? You obviously think things are smudged, could you point out a specific texture? If you note, this be my first texture pack.
Anyway, "laying of the smudge tool" doesn't give me the information I need to fix the issue. Unless you are saying the entire pack is too smudgy? (Blurry I assume.)
EDIT--
Now that I think about it, most of my editing is done with an eyedropper and pencil tool...

@top grass
Well this one is interesting, I had it sharper with just greens and dark areas. And was told to do something else...
Now maybe a more specific problem with it? More contrast? (Keep in mind the current grass texture is in the later screen shots)
Or is it a "style" issue? I am trying to go for a "realistic" look, versus a 16 bit look. So my first pack (versus yours) will have more shading, and what not. For instance the:
Ores!
Gold, and Iron come in veins in the real world. So I am trying to make them veins in my texture pack. If I do not "blur" the connecting lines, they are too sharp. If you check the OPost, you can see what I am referencing.
Coal, and Diamonds those come in "chunks" so I tried to keep them a bit chunky. I admit I want them to be a bit smaller, so I can have more per block.
Another reason I am going for veins, I hate tiling. A single ore in the middle of a block, causes tiling. Sure it is not a visible seam, but it is "un realistic"...
stone
As I stated in the stone screen post, that texture is not done yet.
dirt
I don't think I have posted the updated dirt texture, why not test the pack?
cactus
The cactus is too blurry?
, nether rack
Again, I wanted more color in hell than just red. Though if it needs to be sharpened a bit I can see that.
, soul sand
This is blurry? It is just lines of red and black...
, glowstone ,
Okay, I know this one isn't blurry. Are you just listing textures you do not like?
If so, I need to know what is wrong with them. Not just "they are wrong".
As for the rest, I am going to wait for some specific critisism. I mean, I need more than just a list of "bad textures" I need to know what is bad with them, or else I will just make the same mistakes...
Unless your beef is with the style of the pack, if that is the case then I can't do much about that...
I will say I have been complimented at least 6 times on my wood planks, and twice on the gold ore...
EDIT (Clarification)
I only suggested "testing the pack" because it seems that the critique is based on the screen shots, and not actual gameplay...
EDIT (PS)
If the general consensus is that this pack is no-good. Please post that! I don't wish to waste time, you folks or mine! If the whole thing smells like a bust, then say so and I will start anew! I won't get mad or anything...
(Is that why no one has been commenting? The thing is El Stinko? (Hey I can finally name it if so!))
ok i will download this pack and test it though your ideas are TO realistic this is mine craft your speaking of not bloddy skyrim and the vein idea is good though its not really good when it makes the block stand out and not tile pro ply though what is the first thing you do when you texture i know you said that you use the pencil tool to edit after wards but whats before ?

Depends on the texture really.
As for "this is minecraft" until someone can point me to a list of what "is" and "isn't" minecraft, I will proceed as if it is just a game
Also, remember that the stone texture will not be finished until all the ores are done. Otherwise it will not tile properly, which is what I mentioned when I posted the stone/ore the first time. (I will make sure to keep posting certain points!)
Lastly, if you name a specific texture I can explain how I made it.
(For the rest of the readers!)
If the pack stinks, please post that. I don't mind starting from scratch, really!

Pack is not rushed, I spend at least 2 hours per 16x16 texture.
Again, are you saying every single texture is blurry? Or just specific textures? And, did you test the pack or are you going off of screen-shots?
Lastly, since no one else is commenting I am forced to assume this pack is a bust. Which is fine, like I said. I don't want to waste time, so unless I hear otherwise this pack is dead. (IE no further updates)
EDIT: Stone is not finished yet, which is why it is blurry.
Let's look at the obsidian texture, how is that blurry?
Or my redstone lamp, how is that blurry?
(See what I mean, not all the textures are blurry, gonna need specifics which requires testing. Or just say the damn thing stinks, and we can be done with it!)
I am not saying it stinks, just that a majority of the textures are blurry, and that you should release the texture if it is still in heavy development!
The only texture that I have shown that I was not finished with, was the stone.
And I am sure that you can see for your self which textures are blurry!
Well, now. If I thought a texture was blurry, why would I release it as "finished"? (IE The ores, or the woods) Remember, everyone has different monitors and video cards. Which is why I was asking for specifics, not just "It's blurry".
Couple "It's blurry" with a list of textures (some of which are not blurry, like the redstone lamp...or glowstone) and confustion is bound to happen. I mean, if folks don't like the pack that's fine. Just say that, not "It's blurry" then list a long list of textures (from the screenshots)
And please i know how it feels to get bad feedback, just don't get P-off about it
I have been far from upset about this. Other than the lack of constructive feedback...
Like when I ask for a specific texture that is faulty, and I get "You can see for yourself what is wrong."
Well, here, let me post what I think is going on:
The style of my pack is disliked because it isn't a 16bit game texture. It is disliked because my ores tile well into each other, and don't have one big chunk that is tiled left and right.
Remember, there are only 16 pixels per square. In order to make a 16 bit texture appear to be textured requires shading and highlighting. Which means if you have on pixel that is the color of the block, you just lost 8 more to shading. Or you are going to have a block that looks like it belongs in a Nintendo (SNES) game. That's fine, that's what the majority of packs provide. Mine, well I was trying to provide a more realistic experience.
Obviously no one agrees Which is fine, again I have said the last few posts if the pack stank to say so. I am taking the whole lack of response to mean that it indeed sucks, and I will discontinue working on it. (Well for others, I still think the whole pack looks fancy.)
Seriously folks, I was far from upset. Frustrated at the lack of constructive criticism, yes. At first folks were great at offering the advice, then it turned into "It's blurry". Without a definition of "it".
To the twelve folks that have downloaded every update, apologies. Send me a message if you wish to keep an updated version of the texture.
EDIT--
And I wish you folks would test the pack before offering advice.
I know it has not been tested because I have left specific issues with the pack to see if folks were testing it, or just hitting the screen-shots.
I kind of agree with the blurry statements... my suggestion... expand your medium. go for a higher resolution, that way you can add more detail. I think the issue here is that you are trying to cram too much detail into a 16x16 space. (and since you know what your vision of the textures are, you see them differently than we do.)

Well if they still be too blurry, I am gonna have to say "Too bad"
The grass I am really happy with (block more than the sprite) Not to mention the diamond/iron/gold/emerald bricks, those turned out just right.
In fact, I have been playing my pack since I started making it. And I agree, some of the textures are "blurry". However! If I post an updated screen shot (as in after this post) I am happy enough with the texture for release.
Doesn't mean I won't still accept suggestions. Just no more "It's blurry", that's an opinion (for the most recent screens I do not think are blurry, and I will not change them. I might tweak the stone/dirt more (if you didn't notice they are the same texture right now) but, as usual I want to finish the ores first. Gold, Diamond, and Iron ore are done.
Lastly, about the HD. I play vanilla, my server is vanilla, if I made an HD pack I wouldn't be able to test it
When (if) the api gets released, then I will work on HD packs. Until then, my game stays vanilla!
PS: Remember, I will still take advice. Just not "It's blurry" (Well there are exceptions, like if you include a specific tile ("All of them" is too many, and I would disagree.))

Another update...
Also did some other minor things, cobblestone and some other stuff I can't remember off hand.
Ores/stone 1/2 done. Need to hit Lapis and Emerald. Once those are done, I will meld the edges and what not. Just thought I would show the progress...since these are eating most of my texture-time.

Yet another update! This one has a door revamp, with a side of wool. I also have sand in my crotch, and clay for my achin'? (Ouch...)
Anyways, yeah...
This be the clay!
If there's sand in my crotch, does that make them sand crabs?
Surprise, I also fixed the stone bricks! I guess I really am a stoner!
If I could I wood iron out these some more. (Yeah yeah, best I could think of...get it "wood" instead of "would"!) ... it's only going to get worse from here.
Wool wood ewe look at that!
(Told ewe it wood be worse!)
Until next time, I offer proud, and hearty, "You're welcome" for ending this horrible post.

I love these! Almost as much as your puns!
I also noticed the decaying grass, revealing the dirt. It's a great touch, but I'd leave it for random CTM (If you don't know what CTM is, look it up. Many texture packs use it because it adds alot more properties and stuff :D)

(Some screen caps, I have updated the OPost with the new download, and terrain.png)
(Seams are removed in version I am working on, however they are present in the current download.)
Well, there is an attempt at some of the specifics mentioned earlier.
