Just select the respective area and darken it a bit. Slightly decrease the size of the selected area and darken it again. Do it this way until you reach the outer border, the result is a nice color gradient. Works fine this way with low resolutions, for higher resolutions you'll probably be faster when playing around with a color gradient tool in your image editor.
do u do this 'darkening' manually or you just select it with a marquee tool and use sth? Sorry if I'm being a pain
Don't know what image editor you're using, but every program should have a tool to adjust "brightness and contrast" somewhere. Just use this to darken selected areas, it's very easy
ah, thanks. I'm using Photoshop CS6 thanks for the help
What are the levels you use? Thanks for helping me with this
Just a request, could you remove the grey spots from dirt? It has always bothered me, and I can't texture well. Very nice work, love the beds/minecart/saddle ect.
Could you please tell me how you made the grass texture look so green? I want to make a Faithful-like version, but I need to know the exact way you did it.

Probably found the Biome color gradient and increased the saturation here and there.
Edit: That or there's a MCP (People still use that?! LOL!) specific method Zombie uses.
Hmm ... I never really cared about the grey spots on dirt. I like the dirt texture this way, and many others like it too. I don't think 7 grey pixels are worth the discussions ....
Just for comparison: The dirt looks a bit boring to me without grey spots ...
The only thing I found that needs fixing:
>>>
some grey pixels darkened, better tiling, more randomness ... some dirty single pixel edits with nice results
Woah... the darkend/tilling version looks amazing... Just... Wow...
Also I cant seem to get the dirt, gravel, and stone textures to work correctly. I tried MCPatcher and Optifine, both didn't change...
Why? What happens? Are the textures not randomized? Are other CTM textures broken too? What MCPatcher and Minecraft version? Any other mods installed?
I dont know. The textures arnt randomized. Glass panes arn't fancy like glass, kinda odd. MCPatcher 3.0.4 Minecraft 1.5.2. Clean Jar.
Its just kinda odd, if it helps I don't use randomobs because for some reason it takes me down 20 fps, with any pack. My computer is really odd in the way it does stuff. its a mac btw
EDIT: Confirmed not to work: Sand, Sandstone, Gravel, Stone, Dirt, Chiseled Stone Brick, Stone slab, Grass, Wooden Logs, Clay, Netherrack, Glowstone, Lillypad and Vines
Clean jar you say? Don't know what's wrong on your side, sounds more like an issue of MCPatcher (Random Mobs normally doesn't affect fps in any noticeable way). Maybe someone on the MCPatcher thread knows about problems with macs ...
Shouldn't mac and windows be the same? I'm sure that mods aren't OS required. Is your computer good? Mine is ok, about 25-30 fps with the pack, not much from the normal 35. I would much rather prefer optifine then MCPatcher; easier install, turning off and on certain things like connected textures, better grass, etc, and the great fps boost to about 60 for me. I guess its ok, I don't really need the textures, but it would be nice. Oh well. I still get the nice GUI's and HD beds, boats, minecarts, etc
My computer runs the pack with 150-250 fps (Win7 64-bit, i7-2600K, Gainward GeForce GTX 570 Phanton, 4 GB RAM allocated to Minecraft). Everything works fine on my side.
All I can say: Texturepacks only provide textures for your game to work with, what you finally see of them depends on your hardware, on your Minecraft installation, MCPatcher/Optifine and aditional mods. If parts of MCPatcher/Optifine don't work on your side, report it to the devs so they can fix it. If you have performance issues, you can still use Optifine for a performance boost, many of the pack's features should work with it too (as you said: GUIs, HD items, ... should work fine).
Saying Optifine is easier to install than MCPatcher is something I disagree! To compare:
MCPatcher: 1) Start it, 2) hit "Patch", 3) done!
Optifine: 1) Find your minecraft.jar, 2) open it with 7zip or something else, 3) delete the META-inf folder, 4) copy Optifines class files to minecraft.jar >>> argument "easy to install" noted as invalid
On mac:
MC Patcher: open > Find minecraft folder (not automatic)(about 7 clicks ) > patch > play
Optifine: Multimc open > add mods > add > locate optifine (if organized 1 click) > done > play
personaly i think the pack should have optifine support to work, because more people use it than mcpatcher, mainly because of fps boost, but also the insane amount of customizability, but anyway, great pack, keep up the good work
Also I cant seem to get the dirt, gravel, and stone textures to work correctly. I tried MCPatcher and Optifine, both didn't change...
I had the same problem, and fixed it! Looking at the properties file, say... for dirt, if you put 'tiles=0-7' above 'method=random' without quotes, it tells optifine to use the pics named 0,1,2,...,7 to be used as random textures, do the same for the other randoms and it should work. I haven't found a fix for the glass yet. Working on it now, though I think this fix only works for optifine. He should make an optifine version, as more people use optifine, and it would work smoother.
Just tested that and you're right! Thanks for the hint
The problem is, as always when using Optifine, the poor handling of texture-related features. You need to define the exact method and tile numbers to make the CTM stuff work with Optifine (MCPatcher is more flexible, it automatically uses all tiles of a specific folder if the tile tag is missing - you could easily add new tiles without editing the properties file).
I will add all tile and method definitions to all properties files for the next version of my pack to make most of the CTM stuff work with Optifine AND MCPatcher ... there's no need for an extra Optifine version.
Test screenshot (using Optifine):
Fixed random textures, even the upcoming "nether portal animated ctm blabla" works fine ... the only thing I can't fix (as far as I know) is the glass (without breaking the Better Glass feature - which is still not available in Optifine) and all textures using method=fixed (which Optifine still can't handle) - lack of supported texture features is something sp614x is responisble for >>> things like that are discussed here
Ok, XelekGames, thanks again and let me know if you find a way to make glass work with Optifine without breaking the Better Glass feature.
No problem. I'm working on the glass, but even though I understand ctm, I do not understand better glass, but I will try my best, though it may take some time, because I do not use better glass, or like it, I prefer the ctm glass over Better Glass.
Also an Idea, how about an HD Breaking Animation. I used the Sphax 256x breaking animation tiles, and it looks amazing! Just a thought, because I understand how hard adding new stuff is, but an HD vanilla breaking animation would be nice.
I see no difference to what I have now except for block20a.properties (this one should use the same random textures as block102a.properties, not method=ctm).
EDIT:
OK, found the problem: Removing the "renderPass" tags in all properties files makes glass CTM work with Optifine! There's really no way to do it without breaking the Better Glass rendering. At this point, it's up to sp614x to finally make Better Glass available in Optifine (or at least he could make his mod less susceptible for unsupported tags in properties files).
True, not many people use better glass, but It seemed to work for me last night, meh, at least you figured it out! I just looked at other, compatible and working texture packs, so I'm not sure about better glass still, its kinda just, odd for me.
i like this texture, its not perfect but its what i was looking for. i wanted a texture pack that was slightly different from the default texture pack, and here it is. thanks _zombiehunter :).
I'll use the time until MCPatcher is updated to mess around with the main menu splash texts - for those wondering: Yes, you can change things like this too in resource packs
Yea I changed the texts to: No annoying splash text!. Sounds and records are also fun to mess with. I changed record 13 to a dubstep track.
What are the levels you use? Thanks for helping me with this
Well...
I'm sure it fills some niche so... Good work!?
Probably found the Biome color gradient and increased the saturation here and there.

But it seems that the texture for the top of the grass is a slightly different color than it normally is.

EDIT: Worked perfectly for ctm, but better glass likes to crash with my current mods. Yes, I uninstalled optifine.
