where can I gert a copy of the normal MC textures. Do I need to start from scratch, or can extract it from some where, or can I just download it from some where. Never really done something like this before so Im not sure how to go about it
i tried to extract the jar and i didnt see any textures. it is the one under the jar folder or is there one i cant find?
For Windows: %appdata%/.minecraft
For Linux, it should be in ~/.minecraft
For Apple? I don't know.
Users are not allowed to distribute the Minecraft.jar with texture packs, mods, etc. To find a jar, use the minecraft wiki, or download it from Minecraft.net. You have to login first before you can get the jar, as it will authenticate you to see if you're a paid user or not.
In the jar, file you want is terrain.png. For other stuff like armor, check the, you guessed it, armor/ folder. Overlays are in the misc/ folder. Please go around it yourself. it's often better for the texturepack maker to find these things him or herself.
