Instructions!
1. Go to %appdata%
2. Open .minecraft
3. Open bin
4. Open minecraft.jar
5. Open the folder "gui"
6. Delete the original gui picture and put mine in.
7. ENJOY!!
Why don't you just put the .png into a zip? Then you could put it in texturepacks and it would work. And btw, not to be rude or anything, but this didn't take you more than 2 minutes, and it doesn't look any better. Well, at least for me.

how is this a mod? this is a texture pack. lol
This involves modifying minecraft.jar
It's classified as a Mod.
but it doesnt modify the code, it modifies the texture
However, I liked it very much!
