MrNonApplicable’s Vanilla texture Revamp. These files are designed for those that do enjoy the vanilla feel of Minecraft, but feel in some areas there could be improvements made.
These files are designed to replace the vanilla terrain.png, items.png and Testificates and address issues I found that irritated me and others in the vanilla Minecraft, but remain in many ways close to the vanilla feel.
Changed/Altered texture list:
Terrain .Stone (Significantly smoother.) .Dirt (A little mossy and unclean looking.) .Grass (Fast graphics must be off for it to work, if installed with fast graphics on) .All wood planks and items that share texture colours (Smoother planks. Original type of wood plank has best texture, others are variants of it, expect custom textures soon.) .Brick (Much less bold and out of place in Minecraft.) .TNT (Completely different texture in aim to make it fit with crafting recipe.) .Cobblestone (Designed to make the usually most common block make sense yet look good enough to like using in large scale.) .Gravel (More realism added and replaced somewhat pinkish look to parts of texture.) .Wood (Trunk design more rounded.) .All ores (Revamped with more realistic design and also changed to accommodate new stone texture.) .Gold block
(Redesigned to try to look shinier.) .Moss Stone
(Designed to match up with new cobble and have better moss appearance.) .Obsidian (Designed with realism more in mind again.) .Spawner (Designed to make more sense than a cage that somehow animals pop out of, tried to give it a more magical appearance.) .Ice (Clouded ice up, with much lower level of transparency, akin to real world thick ice, removed silly, repetitive irritating lines for more subtle details that tile better.) .Snow (Snow lengthened down sides of block for better wintery feel and more subtle fade at edges.) .Iron bars (Edited to look stronger, safer and less like straight vines.) .Pumkin (Removed face for realism. This does present issues with 3rd person viewing of your character with a pumpkin on its’ head. For me and others that will not be an issue, but for this that it is, I will have a pumpkin with a face version uploaded) .Jack ‘O’ Lantern (Replaced the vanilla face with a more sinister one.) .Netherrack (Completely different texture, aiming to both look less harsh on the eyes and make the nether still look evil/moody yet look strangely nice.) .Glowstone (Less harsh on eyes and less crowded/busy design.) .Lapis Lazuli Block (Redesigned to match ore and look less like stupid amounts of blue acrylic paint was just chucked down the side of a block.) .End stone and all blocks that use texture (Redesigned to be smoother and better looking.) .Sandstone (Redesigned to look smoother and look more natural.)
Items
.Coal (Designed to make more sense in game.) .Diamond (Designed to make more sense in game and match new ore block.) .Lapiz Lazuli
(Designed to make more sense in game and match new ore block.)
Testificates
.All testificates (All testifcates had stupid noses removed and re-textured to look more like people.)

Installation (Replacer version only) .Access your Minecraft ‘bin’ folder (Press ‘start’, type “%Appdata%”. Open ‘Roaming’ Next open ‘.minecraft’ and lastly the folder called ‘bin’)
.Open the ‘minecraft.jar’ with your chosen zipping program
.Type in the word ‘terrain.png’ and delete the file (May want to back up this file if you don’t enjoy the replacers. Though Force updating should revert the files)
.Drag and drop the replacer ‘terrain.png’ file and rename to ‘terrain.png’ (Without &--#62;‘&--#60; used to show terms)
.Search for the folder named ‘gui’ and open it repeating the previous two process for the file named ‘items.png’
.Go back to the original location ‘minecraft.jar’ and search for and open ‘mobs’, then ‘villagers’
.Repeat the process of delete, replace, rename for each ‘.png’ (Backup optional)
Requests, custom versions and updates I know some edits I have created will not be to everyone’s taste, and I have taken this into account by creating a new file for every major edit I have made to my files, to maybe use in the future if people requested change. I will answer requests if asked reasonably and it is likely I will try to work upon them. I am perfectly willing to make custom versions of my existing files and will still continue to update them after release.
Any requests for changes for next update or custom versions can be left as messages or preferably left on the topic/thread hosting my files. I will get back to requests and will likely turn around results in a few days, as I am working with modders currently and creating textures, along with having revision of my own to do for upcoming exams.
I hope you enjoy the files and keep the thread alive.

It looks good but you dont have to make screenshot for every single texture. You can use this.
Ah, you are right, but I don't posses that world, and frankly, I've spent a silly amount of time and effort getting this ready and up, I think I'll save doing that until another day.
This looks like a nice texture pack, but for me it doesn't really have the feel of the default . I really like your cobblestone, but I'd suggest editing the dirt, stone, and brick a bit to get rid of odd patterns that appear ;).

Thanks, ...Ah, that's not good. That will be my next priority.
Thank you for the helpful and positive feedback.
What is up with your installation instructions? Why would you tell people to delete and replace files from the jar for a texture pack? Do you know nothing about the texture pack feature and basic file structure?

Cast aside your festive doylaks: dragon stuff is about to happen.
Multiplayer is lonely once you understand how it actually works.

Where if anywhere do I say that this is a texture pack?
It's a replacer.
I will however make a texture pack version soon.

Why would you outright replace the textures when texture packs are literally temporary replacers? Meaning when you use a texture pack, it replaces everything, but you can restore the default textures if you want without having to download the whole game again. This was literally the whole purpose the texture pack feature was added for as before we had to replace the textures in the jar.
How is replacing different in terms of utilization of the textures over a texture pack?

It was a texture replacer because that's what me and my friends originally wanted, I uploaded a crap version of this ages ago, that just replaced the terrain.png and was many, many stages of dev behind and some people liked it. After deciding that version just wasn't good enough, I decided to take it seriously and create what turned out to be this. I kept it in the same theme as last time originally because 1) I was only really uploading this for people who had the same sort of opinion as me at first (replacing textures) and 2) at the beginning I didn't know exactly how to create a texture pack. (as you may have noticed now though, there is a texture pack version)
Replacing was meant to be different because (it's in the name) it's meant to be a vanilla texture revamp, it's meant to be step on the standard minecraft textures, adding some realism, smoothness and creating a few more pleasant texture's.
..Yay, any constructive criticism to offer at least?
You mean besides "make them sharper"?
That's my main beef actually, because if it weren't for that, it would look mighty fine.
Some minor improvements would include adding some highlights to the ore, because it's kinda flat now, and making the TNT look less like a wet paper bag. What is it supposed to be actually? A compressed block of sand and gunpowder?

Okay, when my time frees up, I'll see what I can do. Thank you.
Okay, so make textures look less flat basically, fair enough.
The TNT was striving after a slightly more logical look, so yeah, compressed block of it's ingredients, rather than adding sand and gunpowder together and magically having red paper tubes with inked on writing.
