I have Mip-map levels set to the max (4) along with max mip-map type (trilinear) with everything else set to Optifine's default. Anisotropic filtering is "off" - any change to that setting results in a disaster (terribly disfigured image.) I don't know what else to do to reduce the grainy/sparkle effect.
My system is a custom build: Windows 7, AMD-8350 (8-core), 8G RAM and my video is AMD Radeon 7800 series with 2G (I believe it's a 7880 but can't remember for sure - I do remember the card was expensive though, lol.)
The "grainy/sparkles" beyond the very near range kick in with the 256X packs and become extreme with 512x packs. I'm content with the 64x and 128x texture packs I use but don't see why I shouldn't be able to use higher ones. Alas, such is life eh?
Since the beginning, the default and smooth R3D texture pack is noisy as fudge. Even with mip-mapping and any sorts of smoothing it out from the distance is just impossible. You'll just have to deal with how it is because it is how it actually is.
Try taking out your mip-mapping and see the difference, it's a lot worst, so having it at level 4, you should be thankful. haha, but on a serious note, the texture back is a noisy pack, so there's no hope in smoothing it out.
Thank you Chiyaruzu. When it comes to graininess and the "sparkle effect" at higher resolutions it's not just R3D but all of them; in fact R3D is better than most if not all the other hi-res packs I've tried so far. Let's give credit where it's due!
Overall, R3D looks quite good at 256x. The most notable sparkle effect comes with grass and polished granite, the latter being a sparkle disaster, lol. I wonder if the higher resolution packs might not be better served by reducing the resolution in just a small handful of blocks?
Since the default hasn't been updated I used the Faithful 32 textures for everything missing from R3dcraft Default.
I think even the default textures work perfectly with blocks that havent been added to the pack yet. Thats why I dont have much of a problem with it not being updated often. (Default Realism)

I totally respect the people who make these, it must be difficult, but I just don't understand why people would want a super realistic minecraft resourcepack. Minecraft isn't exactly the most realistic game, so I personally don't think that this fits.

I agree with you, but I don't really see how this particular resource pack qualifies.
If you're talking about smooth realism, then yeah, it's way to realistic IMHO.
But Default Realism? Have you seem it recently? It's completely faithful to...................well, the default pack! It has the exact same blocky look that normal Minecraft does, but with more grain, shadows, and overall detail. I personally love it.
The only thing that comes even close to this level of awesomeness is "Default Realism", Baulm's pack.
I hope UniBlue media pushes out more updates soon.
Having trouble getting these normal maps to work. I've zipped them all up with the 512x version and have normal maps enabled with SEUS shaders. Is there an extra step to this or am I misinterpreting something here?
I downloaded the shader support pack and the texture pack, together put them in the same folder and activative them. Only the texture works. No shader effect.
I did found a unknown pack of the lagacy version of R3D, which works perfectly! But the mcmeta said that it's for MC 1.6.2! I don't know how it works and I am unable to recreate such a combination of support pack and texture pack since there's no lagacy shader pack for any version except 1.7
You should look into default 3d resource pack and possibly helping the textures stretch better because these two texture packs looks fabulous together, but some things don't match up. Mostly flowers is the issue, keep up the good work.
So I know it's kind off strange but ehm I've a request for anyone who's bored x)
Since there's no texture for the new woods I've been avoiding them since they came out. I would really like to use them but the 16x16 textures mixed in with the 32x32 ones look kind of bad. So I went searching for some addon on this topic ... but came to the conclusion everybody uses a higher resolution pack so there is no addon for my pack :c I've tried to make one myself but I just can't do it, I really suck for that sort of things :/
So if anybody (I doubt it but you never know :b) feels like helping me out, I would love textures for dark oak & acacia logs & planks in Default Realism 32x32 style x)
What I did was take the missing textures from either the R3DCraft smooth realism 32x ( I though, how ''smooth'' can it be , its still in 32x right ? ) , OR from the Faithful resource pack, depending wich I prefer. I also changed little bits and bobs here and there to my liking but I find customizing this way is awesome and easy.
Theres a few other resource packs trying to stay similar to the default one so its fun to choose in those.
Also, I personally added a custom sky from another resource pack , and custom lightmaps, which makes everything so amazing , its like shaders , without shaders
I love these texture packs, and I use it all the time. But with 1.7 and 1.8 adding so many new blocks, the missing textures are glaringly obvious. I hate putting Red Sand next to Sand with Default Realism on and seeing how ugly the Red Sand is by comparison. I'd love to see these texture packs to be updated with the full range of textures present in 1.8. I've included a couple of screenshots that illustrate my point.
I grew so frustrated with waiting for him to update the pack, I started making my own textures for the new items. It was a great learning experience and proved to be a lot easier than I thought. So my personal pack is near 100% and no more waiting.

It doesn't work in 1.7.10.(SEUS 10.1/10.2)
I downloaded the shader support pack and the texture pack, together put them in the same folder and activative them. Only the texture works. No shader effect.

I LOVE THIS
it only works for me in 1.8.x
So realistic I drooled just looking at the cobblestone gif

Its the same problem to me. Doesn't Work.

That's interesting because R3D doesn't actually have a polished granite texture.

Lemons into lemonade, and all that.
When is a new update for default realism?
