He takes people's money. Then he tells everyone he quits. He keeps the money. Then he comes back and takes some more. Then he quits again. The only reason it's not outright THEFT is because it's technically a "donation." But if you are one of the people who donated, only to get robbed, I am betting you're not happy about it.
(I'm not talking about AdFly, I am talking about that DONATION link on the front page.)
When people offer to help, he tells them to eff off. He won't allow anyone to contribute to the pack, and so it's been stuck at 60% or less for YEARS. Now with all the new textures, the likelihood he will EVER finish it is impossible.
Which is too bad, because what he has done has been pretty good. But it's his impossible "hipster artist" attitude that is killing the reputation of this pack.
By the way, I posted this in my free time. There's no one forcing you to comment on posts like these.
Reasons for why I'm suddenly gone for small or bigger periods:
Might be work. Might be stress. Might be social life. Might be illnesses. Might be lost of inspiration. Might be most likely a combination off all mentioned. I'm not a machine, even though you really want me to be.
Reasons for why textures aren't pouring out of me:
All mentioned above.
Textures are hard to make and takes a lot of time to make. Time is not always that easy to obtain when you are trying to provide for yourself and your close ones. It's easy to just sit back and just receive content and forget about this. Certainly if you are not an adult (not stating that you are/aren't).
Reasons for why I say no (thanks) to help offered:
I understand why people don't get why I'm declining offered help to potentially speed up this project. The answer I simply give is "Thank you, but this project is special to me and I wish to keep it that way" (I've never told anyone to f*** off. Why would I?). You can call me a cocky, selfish, "hipster artist" as much as you would like, but as much as I find that both inaccurate and silly, I don't mind.
This project is under some sorts of advertisements and reward systems, and I would never take money from someone else's hard work and I don't see how I could fairly split the income.
Reasons for why I'm not pouring out textures, despite the fact that I accept donations:
Donations grant me possibilities to purchase programs and resources that would benefit the production of these textures. It still doesn't mean more textures will come out. I can't rely on donations to pay for my private expenses (so I have to work to cover that) and I don't like that idea either. If people want to give money because of this project, then the money should go directly to this resource pack and this alone.
I don't receive many donations, but it's enough to soon purchase things I have planned to spice up the production of these textures. I'm really grateful that people choose to support this project, either it is by word, their presence or sometimes financially.
To begin with, I didn't have a donation link displayed, but a few people kept saying that they wished to support this project, so I made a way for them to do so.
You are welcomed to stick around and follow this project for as long as you would like, but you should always know that there are other options if you are unhappy about this resource pack or if you are unhappy with me, the author. That's not just a direct message to you, BigGrayGolem, but also to the rest of you who should happen to read this.
UniblueMedia, you might want to check this out: http://resourcepack.net/r3d-craft-resource-pack/ this website links the download of your resourcepack straight to Mediafire instead of linking to this thread.

The thing is, of course, is that your entire post just strengthenedthe argument that you are a self-absorbed "difficult artist" with a complete lack of concern over your customers. The fact that you respond to posts regarding criticism or other people pirating your work, while ignoring the other problems people raise with the pack, or about the impossibly long delays in updates, tells us all your priorities. Money and reputation. Alas, this focus will result in you losing both.
No, you don't get a free pass from criticism just because other people offer a similar product. You take people's money? You get the responsibility and oversight that comes with it.

You got a few things wrong.
You, or any other people for that matter, are not my customers. I'm not selling anything to you and you are not purchasing anything from me.
A donation is something (such as money, food, clothes, etc.) that you give in order to help a person or organization. Read more here. It's a gift. Not a purchase expecting something in return.
You see, you look at me as some sort of business, trying it's best to be sustainable, and with a main purpose to offer some sorts of service(s) in exchange for money, but I'm not. I'm one private individual who creates and shares stuff, in this case, textures. I do advertise what I create, seeing as it's a simple way to earn something in return for all those hours, days, months, years of work, without charging anyone for being able to use what I create. This means I'm not depended on how many people who download this resource pack, which again means that you guys are not controlling me. None's controlling anyone, isn't that nice? I do what I like, and I appreciate feedback and critiques from the Minecraft community, but in the end, this is my project.
I'm not trying to act self-absorbed or to be difficult, I just want to do things my way. Please understand.
I think the best illustration of the problem is comparing your approach to that of Marglyph, of the TMI mod, or SP614x of OptiFine.
They do exactly what you do -- offer up a thing they make in their spare time, taking the occasional donation, and updating them when they get the time. I daresay that updating TMI or OptiFine are MASSIVE undertakings, far more than make textures.
Yet in those threads, Marglyph and SP614x manage to communicate with their users in a far more approachable manner. They understand this is a community, first and foremost, and they are members of that community. When people ask questions, they respond, as best they can. They never tell people "if you don't like it, go find something else." You would never hear either one of them say "I do this for me, first of all, and not for anyone else." They don't quit midstream. They use the help of others.
Meanwhile, you spend more time working on 3D videos and updating banners and graphics for the download page, than the actual content that people will be downloading. When challenged, you tell off your critics. Then you quit -- over and over and over -- without so much as an apology, and instead with a view that people should just accept whatever you do.
You would never see that kind of behaviour with those other guys. Even if they have idiots posting negative stuff about them, they keep pushing on, they keep updating, and they keep acting like they understand the responsibility they got themselves into. And, I daresay, their donations are probably much, much higher as a result.
So go ahead and parse the legal definition of "donation" to defend how you take people's money and then leave your promises unfulfilled for a YEAR or more. Explain how when you take people's money and give them nothing in return it's all okay because they aren't "customers" and the Great Thomas Angeland doesn't owe them anything, and they should just all be grateful you bother in the first place. See if that works for you.
Good news, though. Your tortured self-righteous explanations led me to update the damn pack myself. I have never worked on a texture pack, and in all of five minutes managed to update one of the PNGs (iron trap door). After an hour and a half, I came up with 22 pretty cool designs for the new ore blocks, and even finished the sandstone which you seem to have overlooked since 1.2. (You did manage to make a lot of 3D videos since then, though.) Are they perfect? Nope, but given that I have never even attempted this before, they aren't half bad. I even managed to improve the tiling on some of your stock images. You have come up with some great designs and a cool aesthetic -- there's no arguing that -- but I did discover it's not nearly the agonizing slog of work you make it out to be.
The moral of the story is, if you're not going to update the pack, I guess we can just do it ourselves. ironically, it becomes an invitation for people to start swapping modified versions of your pack without your permission, just out of frustration. And since you won't allow people to help you, then so be it. We can then have a long discussion about the fine-edged legal parsing of the word "piracy" I suppose. Since we aren't "customers" and you don't offer a "product," then it's not "stealing" if we modify it and circulate it among ourselves for free ... right?

Pardon me if I am misunderstanding something but it says 1.8 at top, but no matter which version I click it says 1.7.....is there a particular version that has 1.8 support? does it have the new blocks? Thank you.
Also what is the difference between smooth and default?

1.8 support, don't think so (not yet) particular version that has 1.8 support? not sure, so I can't say yes or no (but I don't think there is)
The difference between smooth and default, well, SR is like photorealistic textures but Uniblue tries to make the textures as close to default as possible, while DR is also photorealistic, but is pixelated, basically its something like this: (look in attachment, using 64x version of DR)

I am confused....it had 1.8 on title, and I did find teh SR versions say 1.8, but it doesn't have textures for these blocks? How is it 1.8 version then?
Anyone know of a patch for realistic for new blocks? Until this is finished?

You are not observing anything wrong. There are a handful blocks missing as this resource pack is still under development. Right now I'm working on the doors.
It says 1.8 in the file name because it supports version 1.8 of Minecraft. It does not try to indicate that it contains all blocks from that update.
For other alternatives, check out GrungeBDcraft or Chroma Hills. They both look really great and are created by really talented artists.

Thanks! Can you explain load order for these? Say I want your blocks to be visible and one of those packs as back up for blocks not yet updated. Would I load their first, then yours? Thank you. Also just want to say I love your blocks, and hope all the nega posts will not dissuade you from your hard and appreciated efforts.

Make sure R3D.CRAFT is above any other resource pack in the resource pack menu.
can you please let us know what blocks you are currently working on? Just to give us an update.
So far the doors and trapdoors are being made. The existing wooden door and iron door have been remade and should look better. I really want to finish sandstone, both red and normal, and I would like to bring life to all vegetation.
Not sure if you could but I would actually love to see you do textures and stream it, would be cool to watch you in action and you could get live feedback. Just an idea of course ^u^
I rarely post on here, just because I only come on to DL stuff, and see what's new. However, after seeing the newest update, the items being worked on, and then seeing the one person being rather rude, I wanted to post my support for this, and say that Ive enjoyed the smooth realism, so much. The latest update, although small in terms of change, looks nice, and I really like the newer stone texture. instead of simple plain grey, it has a nice look to it..
To be honest, I like the cobblestone so much, that I feel fine having it as my house material, since using it, plus some parallax, makes it super awesome. Anyway, I really like this texture pack, am excited to see how the new doors look, and anything else in the future. Hope you can keep it up

Curse Premium2)Edit Profiel
3)Check the box next to JVM Arguments
4)I think the default allocation is 1G or something. Change it to 2G or just copy and paste this: -Xmx2G
That should allocate more RAM so that you can play. More info can be found here: Allocating More RAM
