Hey, I love this pack and the work you have put into it is nothing short of incredible, but do have one quirk with it. I personaly find the grey background on the hotbar makes it hard for me to see my items at a glance, that my just be me though.
But if thats my only complaint, its a small one, this pack is amazing and I love using it. fantastic work

Yeah, i've been experimenting with that for a while. There doesn't seem to be any particular color allows all of the items to show up properly. I am considering redoing it in broken glass and using the transparency for contrast.
Good job on the pack! Also, what do you plan for the future?
The next major update will be for 1.8 and will include a total redo of all the crunchy blocks. By which i mean things like stone, bricks, ore blocks... that sort of thing.
My technique actually consists of far too many unorganized layers. About half the time i spend texturing is actually spent just looking for the layer i'm meant to be working on.
But yeah, tell me how it goes when you test it out. Especially because of what you mentioned about the ctm being appearently limited. I've not run into that issue... i mean, i've added ctm to pretty much everything. Every single block i worked on in the past update uses some form of ctm now, many of which use multiple forms. So that's every type of plant, plus the planks, glass, and stained glass. I've yet to hit any sort of ctm wall, so i'm curious as to what issue you're running into. I've been doing some experimenting and found that minecraft's performance can be boosted through increasing its available memory, but only if your java is properly update. The problem is however, that i don't think most people properly update their java. It's java's fault, really. They give you an automatic installer to update it, then only update one of the 2 versions you need for proper performance. Minecraft runs best on 64 bit java, especially with larger texture packs with more ctm. But java only updates the 32 bit version unless you tell it otherwise. That may be your issue.
But i certainly hope there's no ctm limit. I plan to apply it to every last texture in the game at some point.
Ok, I tried it out (on 1.7.2, with MCPatcher of course) and I noticed a few bugs:
1) The oak planks appear to still have the old texture and they don't tile right.
2) The leaves in Swamps look the same as oak leaves in forests (the trunk and the vines don't though).
And not really bugs, but something hat I think could be improved:
1) I think the transition from day to night is too abrupt, there's still plenty of light and suddenly bam, it's dark.
2) The stone seems way too light to me. (And the frozen ash looks like snow, I think maybe it should be darkened back just a little bit)
But don't think I'm criticising, I love it! I think my favourite (new) texture of all is the smouldering redwood leaves.
1. That's not right at all, the old texture shouldn't even be in the pack anymore.
2. Swamp oaks should have willow leaves.
Maybe you have the old version of my pack above the new one in the load order?
As for the day-night cycle, that's a minecraft issue, not a texture pack one. I can control what skybox appears when, but not how long it takes to actually get dark.
And as for the snow... well, as it turns out, ash is actually white, not dark gray. So i brought out the ashy pattern a bit more and made it lighter.
Right, I see.
Well, I don't think I downloaded a wrong version or anything like that, but since noone else has these issues, I guess it does have to be on my side then. Hmm.
Download it again. People have had issues with it and it turned out that it was something wrong with their download. Missing files, corrupted archive and such. It might happen if your internet cuts out during the download or something.
The file size should be 73.7mb.
Which i've just realized is about 21mb larger than the last version... wow.
My computer had an aneurysm trying to load the imgur screenshots in th OP. So, lots of progress! Yay! And I definitely support the custom language files!

Everything works fine...by way of jitteriness...none that I can detect other than when MC is first loading all the chunks in and that's to be expected whether using any texture pack or not, so no worries there.
I know what you mean about the auto-Java updater, I've come a cropper a few times in the past with it only updating the 32bit version, in fact I think I'm going to check that now, in case that might account for some of my jitters. I'm sure your pack has way more ctm and probably a similar amount of animation than mine (though I bet your anims are more efficiently set up), so I can't account for why my Minecraft jitters in my city center, except for perhaps my multiple cloud layers.
So everything looked spiffing about the pack for sure. Especially loved, as I thought I would, all the wood paneling, the underside of the acacia trees (loved that idea) and it's use in the dark oak leaves, but that glass is just beyond gorgeous for sure. I was a little skeptical looking at the initial plans you had that you'd be able to pull it off and also that it would look over-complicated if used en-mass, but seeing it in the flesh and being able to play around with it was enormous fun and the rich color and texture was a delight to look through in various lighting conditions. Bravo on that glass alone and on the update in particular, I'm still goggling at all the ideas!
The only thing that was a slight disappointment, but was through no fault of your own that I can see, was the transition states between biome specific ctm block changes. For some reason I thought MCPatcher would make those transitions smooth like with grass and foliage, but for me they jumped straight from one texture to another and lost a little of the realism, eg. the dark wood grass. I wish it was possible to fade between different biome ctm textures, but I guess that would probably be asking too much of MCPatcher and if possible would be too complicated for me to get my head round.
I nearly forgot...those sunflowers are amazing! I couldn't stop plonking 'em down everywhere!! It felt like being a kid at the seaside again. Trouble was when I returned back to my own pack I had to go back round my city deleting sunflowers from the tops of buildings and ships.

There's nothing wrong with roof sunflowers. I'm sure lots of sunflowers live on roofs or take up sailing.

In other news...
I forgot to fix the portal before updating.
Well, i just did it. I made a whole new texture. I figured my pack needed some more gears, so i made the portal into a sort of grinder. The nether is full of ground up surgical waste, so it makes sense. Exactly how you get through it alive... not so much.
It uses repeat ctm to mirror the texture, because i think it looks better that way.
It does have just a bit of transparency to it.
Just download the pack again and the portal will be in there.
I like it, I like it! The second one is definitely better. Not the texture itself, both look great, but the new one works much better ingame.
Yeah, i'd say the second is my final choice. Well, it's not really my second, i've tested a few dozen variations. It's really the best balance of what looks good up close and doesn't turn into a mess far away.
Honestly, i like the first one the best by far, but since it's mainly going to be viewed far away, i just can't keep it.
It's 4x4 ctm. At that size, there is a noticable repeating pattern, but since it spawns mostly in small pockets underground i think it should be fine. I'm getting a bit worried about the sheer number of tiles in my pack as it is...
The refined version won't have that tiling issue, since it won't be as lumpy. I was thinking of doing something similar to what i did with the wood, making a sort of repeating vertical ctm and having fancy carved stone.
Is it weird that after reading that, I spent a couple of seconds trying to figure out what drug "granite" was slang for before realizing what you meant?

Looks nice and granitoid, though. Well done.
Yeah well, i find that doing granite can be rather calming. It's ok though, i can stop any time i want.

Lol! You've more willpower than me then...I'm in deep and succumbing to the narcotic powers of stone.
Illegal substances aside...excellent stone and granite!
Yeah, I decided the new 1.8 stone would probably be ok as 4x4 squares as you don't get it in great sheets like the standard stone. It's always frustrating to have to curtail random detail because of patterning at distance, but I think you've got a good compromise there with the second rendition of stone. Like you though, I liked the first more 'stoney' and detailed version, they always look way better down in the caves, but just suffer for construction purposes.
Hey, I wouldn't worry about too much ctm though, your pack still seems to be a lot smoother than mine and I'm sure you've got more ctm than me now.
