Swamp biome specific weeping willows. They're actually oak trees, just... willows now. Swamp vines as well.
Tons of ctm here. The willow leaves are a 256x repeat ctm with vertical support as well (so basically, vertical ctm that repeats in sets of 4 tiles horizontally) the vines use vertical ctm, as do the trunks of the trees... there's moss at the bottom.
Also, i used a blank tile as the bottom side of the willow, so it appears that the leaves only appear in strands down the side. The blocks don't have bottoms.
There is a bunch of lichen hanging off those vines, which you can't really see right now, but when i add swamp grass, it will stand out more against it, because swamp grass will be darker. I'll make swamp dirt into mud as well...
I've decided what my last plant will be as well: Doll's eyes.

this is officially my favorite tree on the pack. about the doll's eyes plant, what about a variant with ACTUAL doll's eyes?
More swamp work. I did the grass, dirt, and tall grass today.
The grass overlays the muddy dirt texture, it's patchy and mossy and has little puddles of water throughout. It's 4x4 tiled repeat ctm with a few random varients added in.
As you can see, the tall grass is there as well, there are a few cattails added in.
And here's the grass repeat sheet with the random varients overlaid.
A few dead fish, a big puddle, and a banana slug. All of those are random ctm and rarely appear.
All that's left for swamps is changing the blue orchids to doll's eyes and making a muddy water texture. Then it's on to redoing the jungle biome... and i think that one will be the last biome that i will be doing specific textures for, unless i've missed any major ones. I could use suggestions for the jungle biome.

The jungles could be phehistoric-ish jungles, with weird plants, weird colors and stuff, maybe one of the trees could be giant brackens. Since the pack has to do with anachronism, and i personally think the pack is not disappointing in "after men" aspects, but is severely lacking some "before man" one. or maybe i just like giant brackens, i don't known.

Going with that idea, maybe throw in some large footprints as CTM on the grass. Nothing like the occasional T-rex footprint to make you wary of your surroundings… If you're really crazy, maybe have it full of water, and animate it so it ripples every so often (a la Jurassic Park).

I'm not too big on dinosaurs... but my idea for the trees at least is something that resembles petrified flesh, sort of. Trees with veins. The inside could look like it was at one point made of meat, with a bone in the center... or something that looks vaguely bone and flesh-like while still being obviously wood. Or maybe something entirely different. For jungle biomes, mainly all i need ideas for are trees and vines. There's not much more to them than that.
I really need leaf ideas. I don't think i will do a custom grass texture for jungle biomes, since you can hardly see the ground there anyway. They're loaded with ferns, tall grass, and trees with the leaves directly on the ground (so... bushes?)
I do plan to redo the basic grass texture though. If i can find the .xcf for it, i'll pull out the best random ctm bits, do a repeat ctm base, and randomize the tiles from there.
I really like that fleshy/bony idea.
perhaps the leaves could be some sort of veins coming out of the trunk and with organs at the end?
I want it to have a subtle fleshiness to it. The treeness should be what you notice at first glance. The fact that it seems to be made of petrified animal matter should be something you notice if you're really looking... I'm not entirely sure i'll go that way with it though. I try not to make any gore outside the nether. This isn't a horror themed pack.
I know i should be working on biomes or the last few plants or whatever else to get the update out, but... i just hated the ugly green water so much, i had to get rid of it.
So i made this:
It still looks dirty, but not... radioactive. Plus, i think it goes really well with the sky.

Well, the cocoa pods are already some disgusting sessile parasite hanging on to the trees, so you've got a bit of gore right there... Anyway, I noticed you don't really have a "radioactive" biome: you know, bright green radiation filled pools of water, horribly mutated plants (not just flowers, but all the plants are mutated). Anyway, I thought perhaps you could do that for the jungle.
Btw, is there a way to change rain texture per biome? For example, make it look like acid rain or wet ash?

I don't really want to go for a radioactive biome. Everyone who does apocalyptic goes for that. It's been overdone. No radiation. And no, the only alt texture for rain is snow.
Acacia planks... with an inappropriate amount of ctm. I used about a dozen .properties files on this block alone.
I used vertical ctm on the walls, then i used repeat ctm on the vertical ctm, so it acts like vertical ctm when placed, but repeats horizontally 4x so it doesn't get repetitive. There's also 3x3 repeat ctm flooring planks and ceiling wood work. So basically, all that wood is the same block.
I redid the standard grass today. This appears pretty much everywhere except the places with biome specific grasses that ive done. (swamps, mega taiga, cold taiga, and roofed forests have custom grasses)
Anyway, it was a huge job. Since grass is the most used texture in the entire game, i went all out on it.
8x8 repeat ctm, 64 tiles. Plus random ctm over it, adding 15 varients. Best viewed at full resolution:
I also redid tall grass to match it, and added double tall grass.
It's amazing how big of a difference it makes in how the world looks...
New Vs. old grass and water.
This shows all of the random ctm varients over the new grass texture:
Lots of assorted rocks and weeds, a few fungi, a few gears (these are extremely rare) and even an old, broken PCB added in. Also, i found a great new way of making roots a bit more realistic.

So, thoughts on it?
fits much better with the pack athmosphere. the other grass was too... green. this one is a very little desatured lime, much more fitting.
what's left to the update now?

As far as 1.7 stuff: Blue orchid, the new fish, and stained glass. I also need to work on the underside of acacia trees a bit more to ge the branches right.
Stuff i forgot to add before: Horse armors and default no-armor GUI icons.
Stuff i'm probably going to redo before the next release: birch and jungle trees.

So it's getting close.
for curiosity reasons, do you plan to keep the whole "sorta-living trees made of planks and paper" idea for the birch and execute it better, or to completely alter it?

I'm not sure... i mean, i could probably execute it a lot better, but i suppose i'll make a poll and see what people think. All i know for sure is that they definately won't be standard birch trees.
Yes, but i was thinking i would do a language file as an optional addon, rather than part of the base pack, because changing the item names might be a bit confusing for some.
