I don't know if you did it deliberately, but when you break a head it does the soul sand particles. Considering you made the soul sand guts and stuff, it makes sense.
There is no way to actually change the particles for breaking heads as far as i know, and to be entirely honest, i've never actually messed with player heads. I don't even know how you get one ingame, actually.
So, that was a lucky accident i'd say. That's actually pretty awesome
Also, I have an idea for the swamp grass. It gan be soggy, brown grass with ctm dead fish in it.
Not dead brown grass. Swamp grass will be very dark green. Stringy and muddy, sure. It will be getting tons of nutrients from all of the rotting stuff around, making it quite healthy. The fish are a great idea though, that is definitely going to happen!
I decided i didn't like the ferns i did, so i made new ones. I made some taller ones as well for the double ferns. I think the new ones are much nicer than what i had before.
And if anyone's wondering about those junk metal rare variants i promised, i haven't forgotten. I plan to do them all at once once all the plants are done, then just divide them up between the plant types.

I can explain why heads have soul sand breaking particles. It is because heads do not have their own textures and are taken from mobs. Therefore Notch decided to have soul sand as the breaking particle because the soul is located the brain.
I'm going to see if i can make a different texture for the heads breaking, maybe there's a metadata value for it. I can make it into brain particles...
Awesome! But wow, that screenshot they used is ancient... I don't think my pack still contains any of the textures in it. There's a skybox now, and new mycelium and dirt... mushrooms will be redone by the next release as well. That's probably even the old sand texture in the background.
Rosebushes! I've been working on these the past few days. They were surprisingly tedious with the thorns and shading... A nice thorny tendril plant... with roses. 4 random variants.

Not many.
I need to redo regular grass and get some tall grass done. I already have it done for a few specific biomes, so i might just recolor it for the main world, but i was thinking of adding in a few more varients as well first.
Sunflowers need to be done, but i'm thinking they won't be plants at all... probably.
Tulips need to be done, i'll probably make each one a separate plant type rather than just 4 colors. Or maybe i'll make a variety of plants for it, and make each of them in each color.
The new saplings need to be done...
And those blue flowers... i forget what they're called, the short ones. I did something for them that turned out to be a terrible idea, so i'll be redoing that.
And that's about it for new plants. So i'm almost done. I do plan to redo some more of the old plants as well before the release however, so i'm not as close as it sounds like.
Plus i need to add in a few miscellaneous textures for stuff i forgot, like horse armor item icons, and the armor placeholders in the gui... as well as the new item icons (i think it's just a few fish) and of course the stained glass, which i am looking forward to doing, since i have some excellent ideas.
Also, i was thinking of toning down the colors of the tiles/wallpaper a bit before the next release, but i'll put in a poll to see what people think.
Started on the sunflowers. I happen to think sunflowers are hideous so i'm going with something completely different. Tiny windmills...
There will be a few different variants. I'm going to see i can link the stalks, but let the heads randomize. It might work, or it might not. Anyway, here's the first one.

Retired StaffThe problem with something like that is that plants overlap each other in a X shape, so it might make a sign unreadable.
