Basically... just unhealthy looking mustant plants. Many of them will be albino from lack of sun, i think quite a few will be fungi. I'll do a few varients of each type to add to the biodiversity. I want to do some rare varients as well that are metal things. Bits of scrap stuck in the ground, pipes, that sort of thing. Things that will appear less than 1% of the time. Like the flamingo you've probably never encountered. There's a pink flamingo hidden in my pack somewhere.
I always choose a texture pack based on the mobs, I liked the funny descriptions.
Then I got to pigs.
Tapirs.
The best animals. The cutest animals. The manliest animals. My favorite animals.
The best animals.
Tapirs.
How am I supposed to kill them for 'porkchops' now?
I suppose you changed the resource pack so they make the sound a tapir does when it jumps.
Tapirs.
The best animals.
Indeed tapirs are the best animals. I'm not sure when i'll be able to add sounds though. As of now, i have no money and no way of getting money. And sound recording equipment costs money. Lots of it. But as soon as i find a way to acquire some, i will be sure to add sounds.
So... sounds will come eventually. Much faster if people start using the donate button, but eventually either way.
Have you tried asking people for sounds? As people are more likely to give something they can easily do in there back yard for free than donate their money that they work for.

I want to keep this my own work. The only thing content wise i would accept donations on is music, since i really don't have any idea how to make it. If anyone has any good music however, i wouldn't mind donations of that. I actually have already gotten permission to use a few songs by one of my favorite steampunk bands as well.

Nice. I did not know there were such bands so if/when sounds come out I am likely to be surprised.

Sound definitely will come. I have no idea when i will find a job, but it has to happen eventually, and then sound will come for sure. In the time being, i might as well look into other bands that might be willing to give me permission to use some music as well, and i'll see what i can do about creating sound effects synthetically, if i can get some sort of free sound editing program.
I might try freehand drawing waveforms to see what happens and adding filters until it sounds like something.
Not all of it besides there are plenty of thing that can record sound.
I won't be doing this unless i can get a good quality sound recorder. Sure, i could go buy some dollar store earbuds that have a microphone attached, but the quality would be so bad that it wouldn't be worth it. I'm going to do this right, no matter how long it takes.

Who knows, i might even try a kickstarter for it if there's no minimum limit.
Anyway, i'm currently working on the mesa biome, which is really hard to get looking decent using anything except repeat ctm. But then, using repeat ctm won't allow me to use vertical ctm along with it to fade off the edges, though with random i can... getting a decent texture is tricky.
I want something that's not blurry, not pixely, and certainly rocky. I've got all that down, and it looks good up close, but the contrast is too low so when viewed from far away it looks like a flat solid color. If i increase the contrast, it will look horrible up close.
Just a progress update, since i seem to be doing nothing (i assure you, i am doing stuff)
I figured out that i can in fact apply biome specific random ctm over vertical ctm without messing up my regular clay tiles. So that's good.
I have however also discovered that my plan to fade the rock colors together isn't such a good one.
Look here, actual red rocks:
As it turns out, in nature there are hard edges between colors. What varies most is the patterns on the different rock types. Some have vertical ridges, some have horizontal striations, some are craggly, some seem to be full of small holes...
So what i will do instead of fading colors is focus on patterns, and make each color of clay just a slight variation on the base color. I will still be using random vertical ctm on most of it, but omitting the faded edges lets me add a more detailed pattern.
I see it does indeed look like someone put a dapper vest on some canyons.
All the rock textures will be in one folder, so if you really want to have this in your game, all you'll have to do is pull out the mesa folder located in mcpatcher/ctm.

Curse PremiumI'm not sure of its limits, but you \could always try Audacity. Then again, you were probably gonna use it anyway, but just in case... Audacity.

Retired StaffI have it, but you can't really do all that much with it in terms of filters and such. I want something super fancy.
But sound editing software is cheap. It's the sound recorder that's going to be tricky to save up for.

You would be surprised at what people throw away. Both in dumps and in toilets.

Retired StaffIt looks like this, actually.
Too neat for a tile dump, and it clashes terribly with nature.
I see it does indeed look like someone put a dapper vest on some canyons.
