I've finished the sheep. There are 4 varients. 3 common ones, and one rare.
When sheared sheep will end up missing chunks of flesh because you do the shearing with rusty, pitted, half dull straight razor. Seriously, what's wrong with you people? Using something like that on a sheep... If you don't switch to another texture pack before shearing, then you're a bad person.
Anyway, here's the textures...
As you can see, the 3 common varients are just somewhat randomized versions of the same. Different colors, wool shape, dirt marks, and cuts.
The rare variant is a rather tough sheep. You can tell he's tough by his sideburns, facial scars, eye patch, and tattoos(daggers, ram skull, and the word "wooly" on a banner, if you're wondering). He is especially gory when sheared as well.
The animation isn't perfect... novaskin was buggy today.
Silverfish today. Oddly enough it's more golden... so it's a goldfish... goldfish are cool now because i said so.
Anyway, here it is.
There aren't any varients because it's such a rare mob, but the gears do animate ingame. They turn in opposite directions, the smaller one significantly faster than the larger one, because that's how gears tend to work. Anyway, as much as the silverfish moves, you can't really see the animation, so it was kind of a waste of time... a detail for the observant.

That looks amazing! I really like the little claw arm things coming off of it.

They're pokers. They can extend them out and... poke things.
Anyway i'm starting on cows and mooshrooms next. I was thinking the cows for the most part would just be regular cows. Maybe i'll shade them to look a little emaciated, but that's pretty hard to do considering they're obviously fat and cubular, but i'll see what i can do.
I was thinking of doing one rare cow varient being some sort of steampunk cyborg hover cow. The legs would be removed and it would have metal plates on each lower corner of the body where the legs should be that look like they do something hover-y. Maybe it would have tubes coming out of the head, a metal moustache, something of that sort. I could use suggestions for this. I could also use suggestions for the cow in general to make it more interesting than a plain old cow. Sublte things for the common varients. I already have a chicken with a monocle, what does the cow get?
As for the mooshroom... i have no real ideas. I might do that walking fridge thing someone suggested. Another idea i had was to make some sort of mechanical legs, remove the head, and have the body be a glass fish tank type thing with dirt and mycelium inside, the top would be open and use the mycelium texture, so the mushrooms on top would make sense. Other than that... cordyceps cows.
I hate doing cattle mobs... they're so restrictive.
I'll just throw in a few "subtle" suggestions that I can think of for the cow:
- glass eye
- braces
- galosh boots
- 3D glasses
- USB ports
- a part of skin ripped off where you can see wiring (otherwise looking like a normal cow)
I know some of these are too "modern" for your pack, but I put them in anyway, so you could get inspired for something better.
EDIT: I actually found an image of a goat with galosh boots and I find it hilarious.
Terrifying, isn't it? That's about half the shading done, and my discovery that i'd chosen some very bad eye placement. Maybe i'll just stick the eyes right on the front of the head this time... and make them less beady.
The plan for cows is that there will be 3 main colors, and a male and female version of each. Cows will have udders OR horns, not both. Sure, you'll be able to milk bulls if you want to, but... just don't.
Anyway, there will of course be the steampunk hovercow as well.

Retired StaffIf only the model supported it...
I might do a 3d glasses cow though.

Retired StaffNow with eyes that won't give you nightmares!
This pack looks absolutely amazing! I in particular love the animated textures for the diamond tools.

Retired StaffI'll be doing another 2 cows, a male and female. A different color, but they will be hovering steampunk cyborg cows.
Anyway, i did some extra shading and added ribs onto them, since cows aren't so healthy in this post apocalyptic world.
Here, this just shows the 3 colors, one sex of each.

Retired StaffThere are 10 varients. 8 common, 2 rare. 5 colors of cow, male and female of each.
The rare varient is a legless steampunk cyborg hover cow thing.
The gears on the side actually do animate ingame. Hopefully it gets the idea across that there's some sort of gyroscopic hover device inside the cow.
What do you think?

Retired StaffHover cow is definately my favorite one.
