Can't quite explain why but at the moment this is definitely my favorite resource/texture pack I've found and hope you continue to keep it up to date etc.. Great job and keep up the good work!!!!!

No worries, i work on it daily still. It's not even 100% complete yet, as i'm sure you've noticed it still needs mobs and paintings. They're coming. And when those releases are done, i'll go back and fix some of my earlier not so great textures... like stone, ores, trees, wood and such.
After that it's on to sounds... as soon as i can figure out a way to get enough money to buy a mic and perhaps some sound editing software.
==========
Anyway, i've made this wool texture. Wool is hard, i have no idea what i'm doing and the sheep is driving me nuts. I think once i get the wool done right, i can get onto the rest because i can blend it into the undersheep at partial transparency here and there to fill a lot of gaps. It's not shaded, it's not shaped, but i could use some solid feedback on the texture itself. Does this look somewhat like wool?
Someone suggested it earlier and I think it's a very good idea: Why not make the wool itself bandages of some sort? You said the sheep would be injured during shearing (their skin off?).
Or perhaps the story can be you are a bandage thief (who turns the bandages into wallpaper and carpets), you take the sheep's bandages and wait for some good soul to put new on them (regrowth) and then you steal it again. ;D
That's just... not... very good.
It would really take away from the isolated feeling as well, if it gives you the idea that there are people just walking around bandaging up sheep.
sorry, I never did understand the interest in post apocalyptic stuff...just not my thing....
It's really for people that fantasize about adventure i suppose. We live in a world where it's pretty much too late to explore it, to discover anything. Of course there are still undiscovered places out there, but not many, and not ones that you might ever just come across by chance in your every day life. Most people live a very boring, monotonus life, and some people at some level hope the world will end. Not all the way of course, but just end a little bit. Just end enough so that society crumbles, and everything gets abandoned and destroyed and becomes new again. They hope everything becomes a bit dangerous. A bit exciting.
It is not a wish for destruction, but simply a wish for the end of monotony and stagnation. There is a certain beauty to decay though... Nature taking back what was taken from it.
That's what the appeal of it is i think. It's not real of course, but it does bring out that feeling of adventurousness and danger that some seek. It's not perfect of course, but it's the best i can create... in minecraft at least.
For the zombies why not have a stitched together monster with a brass steampunk heart? For varients you could have some parts of the zombie be brass or such due to the fact that the required part was not avalible? Also about the whole 'The World Has Already Been Explored' thing, I completely agree with you, and this is exactly why I love this pack!

That could work. Taking some inspiration from handymen? I was actually planning to do that for skeletons though, occasional brass bones, or even pistons/rods/bars replacing missing sections of bone.
Anyway, sheep update. i made the wool noisier, and less stripy, more lumpy, more fluffy, and less contrasted. I added a bunch of mud on the bottom as well which kind of doubles as shading.
Yeah, that sheep looks much better.
I think that the zombies could either be children that are forced to work in factories (kinda like a sweatshop, but older), or Victorian factory workers with severe injuries caused by factory machines, maybe some with white-lead-based makeup.
I also think that wolves should foxes, and they should have rabies, especially angry ones.

I actually don't know what Handymen are. Lol. Anyways for the wolves instead of simply having one 'wolf' why not have multiple species? Such as Tasmanian Tigers, Dogs, Normal Wolves, Foxes, even some mutant wolf?

Retired Staff...the best idea ever?
I want to keep them as zombies, or at least something rather undead, but somehow steampunk...
Maybe i'll just design some fancy victorian suits for them to wear and give them moustaches or something.
Now that would be cool!
*The bandit idea has already been used for the Last Days texture pack, the skeletons are bandits.*

Retired StaffI rather like that idea... and i've watched just enough star trek to know what those are.
(well, years of insomnia and star trek the next generation being the only decent thing on past midnight might be why...)
yes but also very silly

Retired StaffI mean wool on the sheep, not wool when it's made into sweaters and stuff.
On the sheep it's basically just extremely curly, fluffy hair.
oh, in that case, it's looking like the sheep had a severe beating, but with no blood. as you said, the sheep here are tough, so,... i'm condused.
Bein' normal for suckers.

But don't forget, it's a steampunk pack as well!
Good point... maybe i'll lower the contrast and add some cracks. Wool does seem to have cracks in it where tufts of wool are seperate from each other.
like this:
You can really see it around the neck.

Retired StaffI am going really slow on this... no idea why this sheep is being so difficult for me.
Anyway, earlier when it was only partly done, the sheep looked just like the spine...
Still, i blame the model for how disturbing this looks. it's just not shaped like a sheep.
