Pigs will be tapirs, with a rare varient wearing a plaid full body suit... think tapir shaped morph suit, but plaid, and with eye holes and lots of stitching. It will make people wonder a bit more about the wooden sword.
Wait... rare variant? How do you make one skin rarer than others?

Though it's not required for randommobs to work, there is the option to add in a .properties file.
One of the variables that can be added is weights, like random ctm uses, to define how common each type is. If i stick that in, suddenly only one in 200 or so pigs is the weird plaid thing.
Also, that's very strange that the pack isn't working... make sure you haven't unzipped it, make sure you have the newest version, and make sure pack.mcmeta is in the root folder (it replaces pack.txt, it's what has the pack description in it). i don't think it's missing from the uploaded version, but if you somehow accidentally removed it, that will cause it not to be recognised, since 1.6 won't recognize packs without it.

Ah, here's my problem. For some reason the .zip was completely empty. God only knows how that happened. Downloaded it again and it works fine.
I took a break, and I feel like everything has changed!
Redid wool, split up the tiles and wallpaper. Hardened clay is now tile, wool is now wallpaper on the sides and carpet on the top using ctm. There's random ctm support and now there are over 500 random ctm varients for just wool and hardened clay. 2 blocks, 516 textures. Yep. Plus the new 1.6 blocks and items, that's all released, you can download it.
As for now, i've started on mobs. So far i've finished the creeper, blaze, slime, magma cube, squid, enderman, and i'm about 90% of the way done with the pig.
I wanted to get the wattle, comb, and red face bits right. I'm not proud of how long this took me, especially figuring out the texture map, but here's a basic preview of what i have so far.
And a chicken face to compare it to...
Of course only the beak is the final color so far.
I have pet chickens irl, and i can confirm that chickens do always look this angry.
Yep, terrifying little critters they are. Like a swarm of velociraptors out to attack a helpless head of lettuce, and rip it apart, blood spurting everywhere, so much screaming... Before i forget, i actually plan to make one varient of chicken just a head with a spine poking out, which it stands up on... it's based on a dream i once had, that the chickens were sick with some parasite that had that effect on them, however the lack of body didn't seem to cause them any inconvenience. The strange spine snake chickens just kept at their pecking, even if there's no logical place for the spoils of their peckery to go.
Here's where i'm going with the chicken... It's not finished yet, but it's about 80% of the way there for the base chicken texture, there will be varients, mostly recolors, perhaps a few easteregg type textures.
I think i've captured the angry, yet slightly confused expression chickens to have pretty well, don't you think?
I didn't really stick to the texture map on this, i only textured the sides of the wattle to devide it into 2 sort of... strips, as it appears on actual chickens. I did one column of pixels along the front as well to give it the illusion of depth. I've also extended the beak onto the head.

The eyes put it together, also the body seems a little muddy compared to the quality of the face, still touching it up? The chicken though is definitely looking spiffy.
... I also don't think I have actually tried this pack out, should definitely do that at some point. ^^
P.S. Looking at the end portal in the background the tiling on it bugs me since the pattern repeats too noticeably for me. But don't worry about that and finish the chicken if there's things to be done! D:
Actually, he redid the portal to not tile at all (with six different parts) and it looks great, but I have no idea why there is the old wrinkly one in the background there.
If you look at the other part of my statement I also haven't used his pack so I actually hadn't know that, thanks for the heads up.

The body so far is just the feather texture, it has no shading at all yet. once i get to adding that in, it will look a lot more... chicken shaped. I still need to do tail feathers and feet, and a lot of blending as well.

Yep, it was redone, but the 1.6 update messed it up. I'll fix it at some point before the next release. It's just a bit tricker to deal with than fixing the rest of the animations.
Very minor complaint. The texture of the item hotbar clashes somewhat with those of the item sprites in such a way that makes it difficult to see the items.

True... i painted it white in the last update to help eliminate that issue, but it still persists... i'm thinking the only option left is either experiment with other possible colors, or perhaps make it semitransparent. I need to experiment a bit.

Retired StaffI finished the tapir pigs! Well, pig mob, tapir texture. Here they are...
There are 6 varients.
In the order they appear:
Albino tapir
Standard green tapir.
Golden tapir.
Plaid suit tapir.
Black and white tapir.
Emaciated green tapir (or if you prefer, zombie tapir, but really he's just a bit sickly.)
Ingame:
And of course i didn't forget, i added that one wearing the plaid suit to make people wonder about the wooden sword..

Retired StaffYou like him even better than the one in the plaid suit? What's wrong with you? XD
Yeah... now that you mention it, the gold one does seem to be the color that goes best with the pack overall.
I think i made the albino one's eyes a bit too shiny... well, enhanced the shine too much when lightening up the rest of it, think so?
