Anyway, until then ill just work on the new 1.6 blocks, and redoing the wool now that there's hardened clay. Wool is currently tiles and wallpaper mixed. The redo will make 3 different tiles for each color. Wallpaper (wool sides), Tiles (hardened clay), and carpet (wool tops, and carpet blocks)
So that gives a unique option each for walls and flooring in wool alone, and tiles of course work well for either.
Although... i do use a lot of random ctm on this kind of thing. 16 colors X 3 materials X approximately 10 varients per texture = about 480 textures. And i've already added more than 10 varients for the ones i've already done, so let's say 500+. Hopefully random ctm doesn't suck up all that much memory. I can't imagine it straining the GPU too much, but my pack probably won't run too well for anyone with less than 2gb ram allocated to minecraft once ive added this.
I don't like most of the wallpapers and tiles i've made, so they'll be mostly redone with a few exceptions.
I've got an idea, just spitballing here.
How about instead of tiles, you make the wool sides colored wood?
We were teased it back around horses were announced and everybody loved it, but then they were taken away.
It'd probably decrease your texture times drastically, as well as giving us more options.
Again, just spitballing. Just thought it'd be cool/different.

Taken away? Wool? What are ya talking about?
The tiles are the new block, hardened clay. Wool will be wallpaper, and wool tops will be some sort of fancy rug for carpets.
Anyway, i did the last of the tiles today:
And here they all are together:
From left to right: Default clay, brown, orange, yellow, lime, green, cyan, light blue, blue, purple, magenta, red, pink, white, silver, gray, black.
I believe he meant that Mojang was talking about colored wood back in the snapshots for 1.6. Here's the tweet in question, although it seems that he shortly afterwards went back on that and showed the baked clay instead.

I was thinking of adding colored wood later on when i do the wood overhaul update once the pack is finished. Appearently biome-specific textures are possible now, and i was thinking it might be need to do one of the plank textures with flaky, rotting paint on it. I could make the paint change color depending on the biome.
For the wallpapers i'm getting the base textures out of the way before i start working on the random ctm alts for them.
Here are the first few...
Brown and gray are redone versions of what i had before, because i quite liked them as they were, even though they weren't quite perfect... but now they are.
I find that all these new wallpaper and tile textures work quite well for constructon...
Looking good. Can't wait to get my hands on this, although I may need to find some time in my schedule to play now… and figure out when the server I'd been playing on decides to go live again.
I tried doing something a little different for the black wool, adding a bit of low saturation dark blue and purple to it, i think it makes it seem a little darker while actually being a little brighter.
Anyway, which version is better?
Actual black (well, extremely dark gray and black)
All your new stuff is simply fantastic, 13th! Far more spiffing than my humble attempts, especially the armor, doors and all the new things being worked on for 1.6. You'll soon suss the .mcmeta stuff and be running on a full head of steam. I do not know what Mojang were thinking scrapping .txt which everyone was familiar with...other than putting a spanner in the works for everyone!
Anyways you are doing amazing work and it well deserves all the attention it's getting, I can only see great things ahead.
I'm just looking forward to a nice rest once I've got 1.6 out of the way...just don't burn yourself out too soon.

I've pretty well figured out the whole .mcmeta issue. The easiest thing to do about it is to simply use a template for it, edited as needed.
There's quite a bit of work left for me, not only for 1.6 but i've barely even started on mobs yet.
Anyway, in other news, i've decided to go with something between the desaturated black wool and the colorful version...
All of the wallpapers are done! Well, kind of... the base textures are, i still need to do varients for all of them, but that's a lot easier than having to design each one. Some dirty picture frame outlines, random rips and vents, and most likely ill do a unique varient to each as well.
Here they are with the corresponding tile color.
And up close of them all so you can see the deisgn...
So, once i get the varients for the wallpapers done, i can start on the carpets. Those are tricky... carpets need to be a completely non-directional pattern. Ill figure it out i'm sure.
Anyway, here's a composite image of the tiles as well

Retired StaffIt's a stuffed plaid tapir head.
lol, I'm going to go rename my sword "slug on a stick" now. xD
I always thought it looked like the head from a rocking horse, but yours is way better.

Retired StaffIt was originally going to be a horse head on a stick toy, but i couldn't get the shape right so i went with a tapir.
