I don't really get this one. I mean yea, it kinda makes sense for a Flint & Steel, but those are going to be some funny-looking arrows.
Also, a patch of gravel twelve miles underground seems like a funny place to find a spark plug.
(Good work on the other textures, btw. I like the bird, but the redstone pipes are a bit bland.)

Arrows are going to be bullets anyway, so there was really no way to make the recipe work to begin with. At least this might sort of make sense as a disposable firing mechanism. Also, have you seen my random ctm textures? There's a ton of random junk mixed in with everything.
Flint and steel. A fancy lighter. The it will open/ignite when equipped and loop the flame animation ingame... that is when i get it working properly.
Leather:
String:
Stick... well, an old floor board that's been pulled up. It makes more sense for most of the uses, and considering that it's made by deconstructing blocks of planks.
Feather. I just made an old quill, really. It's ink stained.
Clay:
Added some damage/grit to the redstone pipes:
Coal/charcoal. A burnt old chess knight and... a stick.
Blaze rods... The idea is that blazes will be sort of patchwork semi-robotic zombies that are basically random organs over bits of metal acting as bones. The holes allow for tendons/veins to attach.
Bone texture. Im thinking the skeletons will be part robotic and part bone, and happen to resemble the spine from steam powered giraffe.
Slimeball... a mason jar full of goo and nails.
Snowball. Since my snow is ash, the snowball is an urn. It's an excellent thing to keep ash in, and breaks when thrown.

RANDOM SUGESTION: the slimes could be some kind of mutant being with slime covered bodies and many old stuff stuck in it. it would fit well the items. and you could use randonmobs to change what would be stuck on tehm each time
Fire charge. Some kind of smouldering stuff in a wire mesh ball.
Paper. An old newspaper detailing foreshadowing the event that caused the mess the world is in.
Empty map... unfinished rough map on a newspaper.
Firework star. The gray band changes color depending on the content. The idea is that it's a large bullet with the actual bullet part removed, so it's just the charge and powder, altered to work in a firework.
That's actually an excellent idea. They're used for enchanting equipment, right?
I admit, ive never used one.
Yes, you can enchant a book at the Enchanting table and it will give it a random enchantment. You can then use the Enchanted Book with a piece of equipment at an anvil to give the equipment that enchantment.
I finally got a new account for the minecraft forums just so I could respond to this post.
First, I *love* this pack! Brilliant work on it so far. I've been following the progress for a long time.
The reason I created an account was to express my hope that you might reconsider some of the stylistic choices you're making on a few of the item textures. For the most part I feel you've done a wonderful job of staying true to the intuitive nature of Minecraft's art direction. A stick is a stick. A gold ingot is a gold ingot.
But I see now that you're departing from that very drastically. For terrain this kind of style choice comes with the territory and is probably a big reason people look for new texture packs in the first place (just my conjecture here). But for items, it becomes *very* confusing if things don't look like the things they're supposed to be anymore!
I can appreciate the intention to make some things that are otherwise bland have a bit of character to them, but at the same time, I just want coal to be coal, you know? Or at least, I want to look at it and think "that's coal right there".
There are some places where you've started departing from that and I came on to urge you to take a closer look at the benefits and drawbacks of doing so. I will continue to follow your project eagerly!
Spawn eggs, or if you prefer, fetus grenades. These are glass capsules containing fetuses of various species. Pull the pin, and it will release rapid growth hormones, causing the fetus to rapidly grow to it's adult size. Where is it getting all the extra matter to create the adult sized body? Who knows...
Nether star... Since it seems to cause a beam of light to converge, i figured some kind of lens was in order. A magnefying glass perhaps?
Written book
Enchanting book. As suggested by SectorC, i made it blueprints. It really fits the theme of my pack anyway, since xporbs are scrap used for working on tools, it only makes sense that an enchantment book would be some sort of instructions.
Ghast tear in a vial.
Bow... I wanted to have this thing crack in half to load, unfortunately there wasn't enough space vertically, and i would have a really bad design otherwise, so i went with this... A flintlock pistol
I had an idea, i would have the gun held slightly upward of a firing position, and each frame of the pullback would tilt it down, push it forward, and retract the hammer a bit, the idea was, that when it would snap backward and upward after firing, it would look like recoil, but the stretching FOV kind of ruins this a little. Is it possible to shut that off?
Bone meal... powder, teeth, assorted bones...
Cocoa beans... a cross section of a cocoa pod full of goo and veins.

Well, i realize that certain aspects may become confusing when changed, however i do try to make things fairly obvious through use of color and texture when the shape is quite different. Coal is black and crackled, gold is of course shiny and gold.
Using my pack to it's full potential might take a small amount of learning however. In the future, once i finish the pack, i might redo items to more obvious item textures, and make things look like what they are again if there are others who share your opinion on this.
Bed.... well, it's the box the bed comes in. As you can tell from the color swatch, this one is green.
Item icon for the brewing stand... Yes, it's an edited version of the ingame one.
Carrot on a stick.
Cauldron icon
Comparator.
Repeater. If you look closely at the original texture, you can see these things have hinges to fold up into a briefcase.
Fermented spider eye
Item frame
Hopper inventory texture... not so creative.
Minecart icon
Minecart with chest icon... If possible i would like to redo my minecart types to have different tops on them. It might be possible to do an invisible version of the blocks in the minecart, and then do a separate minecart texture including tops like this for different variations using metadata values... i need to look into it.
Furnace minecart
Hopper minecart
TNT minecart
Painting

At this point it probably won't be more than a day or 2 until the next release.

That knight has quite a muzzle. Maybe you should make the lower jaw a bit smaller?

Xp bottle. A bottle full of random junk to upgrade weapons with.
Book.
Book and quill.

(It may look bad, because I threw it together in like 20 minutes in Paint.net)
