Its good to see a surreal pack that's made by someone who actually understands surrealism instead of someone who just says "hey, lets make this block into this thing for no reason" or "hey, lets make stuff the wrong colour".
I'm sorry, scratch that. What I meant to say is it its good to see a surreal pack that's made by someone who actually understands how to do surrealism. I don't think anybody actually understands surrealism itself. I certainly don't understand it, and I make it.
Although its easier to understand than dada, I suppose, but on second thought I think that's actually the entire point of dada.
I just checked it out in-game. The water is fantastic. I eagerly await the next update. If you keep up the great work, you may give Glimmar a run for his money as my favorite texture pack (but only once its finished, because unfinished packs make me OCD).

true, surrealism can take many forms. for me i tend to stick with... somewhat dream inspired things, and conceptual things made literal.

Cool. Dream art and literalism are two of my favorite things (also: raindrops on roses, whiskers on kittens, bright copper kettles, and so on and so forth).

indeed. see my birch trees (oak isnt going to stay like that once i figure out how to split the leaf texture)
trees that were killed but refused to die. leaves of paper, trunks made up of crates containing wooden planks.
but still, it remains a tree, and refuses to be anything else.

Yes, I noticed that. Literalism to the point of contemplating what it means to be (or as Bill Clinton put it, in an somewhat less philosophical context, "what the meaning of “is” is").
Say, do you play Spore? I'm planning an adventure series in GA that's based on elements and events from a bunch of my dreams all strung together into something vaguely resembling a coherent plot, but still operating largely on dream "logic".
Since this is broken anachronism, maybe you could make the tiers of tools go up in age? Wooden club, Stone Mace, Iron Sword, Rusty Sword and Laser Sword!

i have some very specific ideas for tools already. basically, all of them will be obviously jury rigged and put together from whatever's around.
wood will be very basic makeshift tools. things that aren't suited for the job, but will work. (and not necessarily wooden, but ill try to keep a certain color theme for them) for example, a spoon as a shovel, a tree branch as a sword, the claw end of a hammer as a pickaxe...
stone will be improvised, but at least suitable tools. for example a stone hoe might be... a metal sign bent to a 90 degree angle, which would work decently as a hoe.
gold will be... well, just random gold items that will kind of work for their job (since gold tools are pretty horrible) maybe a candlestick as a sword...
iron will be simple machines. levers and springs, that sort of thing. something a decently skilled tinkerer might come up with if released in a junkyard. a push-mower auto hoe perhaps, motorcycle handlebars cut down and sharpened into a sword, maybe some sort of spring loaded pick device. all quite rusty.
and diamond... will be insane steam powered devices with pipes and gears all over... overkill. massive overkill. drill for a pickaxe, hand held band saw for an axe (because its cooler than a chainsaw) perhaps some sort of blade kept perpetually hot for extra damage.
there seems to be some kind of error with the bases, taking the top portion of one and using it for the sides, and the rest taking the sides from a more logical part of the image. i really don't know what to do about that except submit a bug report to mojang. its not *too* bad, is it?
