I'm sad you didn't take the image I made for your pack and put it in your OP
That's a really good idea. i didn't even think of it, ive been too busy. ive not updated the OP since i released the last test pack, i need to make some changes. definately taking it.
Edit: it's perfect my thread needed a good header.
my workbench idea is an automated sort of device with 9 doors, put an item in each door, the internal components in the machine assemble the items based on schematics programmed into it... anyway, since there is an apocalyptic aspect to my pack, i decided to make the top of my work bench broken, and animated.
see there? tis a stuck door that sparks when it moves. good idea? i know i need to tweak it a bit, since tis obviously wrong now. any advice or suggestions?
Awesome so far! Love the broken door on the table. Hmm, try to make the spark either slower or faster. Or change the shape. By the way, for the crafting GUI, you should have a metal rod or something wedging the door open so you can craft with it. Don't know if this is possible (I know nothing about making texture packs), but if you can, make the outcome of crafting look like it's being displayed on a screen.

hm yeah, perhaps ill go with a less solid spark. more particle-y.
i like the rod idea for the GUI, but there will be no screens in my pack. see, that doesnt really fit in with the steampunk aspect. display screens are too modern. i don't mind stretching the steampunk aspect, but that kills it.
I love the crafting bench and can't wait until the next test release. I'm on the edge of my seat. As far as gui I'd love to see it as a sort of stained/scrap paper as if everything was hand drawn in and maybe a light watermark of one of your coffee drawings in the background or something similar.

hm... that's not a bad idea. i could possibly make some coffee stained stock images (on physical media) to use for part of the background. i hadn't even thought of that
but yeah, as for test releases there aren't many left. once i finsh the terrain.png related ones, ill do a test release for mobs once i have at least one texture for each, and beyond that... no more releases until it's out in full. so there wont be test releases for things like GUI, items, skyboxes, and all that. but honestly i get the feeling this stuff will be a lot easier than most of the blocks, since its all a lot more abstract, and i dont have to worry about how it will flow with other blocks or any of that.
it might make a bit more sense if you have a look at this:
the only thing that bugs me is that it kind of reminds me of the top of my jukebox... ah well. the other side of the crafting table will be a welder on an extentable arm with cables hanging off. neat, yeah?
Hello, I wanted to give you feedback on the bed designs while also bumping this pack. For the bed, I love the idea you had with the leather, just add some equipment on the sides or something like 02 tanks or something. You could also use the leather design for certain wools. Anyways, love the pack. Great use of animations always! Keep it up!

i think i will use it for one of the wools maybe a nice deep purple one...
anyway yeah the sides are tricky... and remember, it's apocalyptic too. i need to make it a bit shredded up.
would you mind making the download a .zip because the few mac users that do play minecraft (I should know as I am one of them) can't open the .rar file that is up now. Anyway the pictures look awesome and I was able to use the 3rd release and it looked great (animations might be a bit fast). Keep up the good work and I hope I'll be able to use it soon!

The point of it being a .RAR is so it would be obvious that you need to unpack it, since it contains more than just the pack. the next release however ill include the .zip for the texture pack seperate from the test map. (my test map is rather obsolete now anyway)
anyway, until then... check your inbox, i sent you something that might help.
Another workbench side... This one has an external welder for those big projects, and of course some welding goggles for safety...
and through the vent, you can see one of the pistons within the machine working.
thoughts?
edit: an ingame shot of it all together
Also, i have added another download so that its possible to download the texture pack alone. it's not bound to the map anymore. (but the map+tp download is still available)
Looks great, though the piston on the side seems to be too large since the shaft would need to be connected to a wheel that spins in order to move the piston back and forth, and the wheel - from the looks of it - would be outside of the texture.

hm... maybe. i added an outline of one and it fit... but scraped up against the side. how about this...

Retired Staffthe range of movement on this piston is rather shallow, if you look at it, the circle it could rotate on would be about 7 pixels wide.
