liking the pack, i hope you finish it soon, would look great in my massive texture library
well, its getting there. i have the majority of terrain.png done already, but ive only done one mob, and not started on items, i have a lot of work to do on the biome shading, lightmaps, etc. but terrain.png is the biggest part of a texture pack.
========================
My repeater texture.
Notice the hinges, the latch, and the seam down the middle? this is so when i get around to texturing items i can be lazy on the repeater and make it into a folded repeater suitcase looking thing.
The idea here is that the redstone torches (which are boilers) can slide along a track connecting to different pipelines of different widths changing the pressure, thus creating the delay.
picture ingame:
Amazingly, getting the mini-pipes coming off of the boiler/torch was actually easy. i just estimated it and tested it, and got it right my first try

I don't know... i spend 2 days on it, but there's something about it i don't quite like... i want to tweak it a bit but im not sure what to tweak. the corners perhaps? do the filaments look too much like dollar signs making it seem like its meant to be money themed in an odd way? or is it just me?
=======
Redone:
So, i redid my redstone lamp so now it no longer looks like it's themed after dollars for some reason... the shape of the filaments doesn't matter so much i realized, as the green theme. it was bugging me. i went with something more... deco.
also, a huge problem was that the circle went all the way into the edges of the block making it tile horribly and impossibly, so i added a bit more frame to it.
The best so far. The filaments look realistic, the aperture is perfect, and the metal frame fits in well with the other materials. Its not completely utilitarian, but also not ornate. Love it!

excellent. exactly what i was going for. i realized that due to the limted frame space, i couldn't go too ornate without making it look like a mess, but i had to include some decorative aspects so it wouldn't appear plain.
3rd time is indeed the charm in this instance. I joined a steampunk themed server and have now been using this pack more than ever. I cannot wait for the new textured cobblestone and the redstone lamps. So far I find myself using the stone slab/stone brick textures most often.
The more I play with the pack and comparing different air ship designs I can see the wool going towards a polished marble/patina'd metal instead of the traditional stitched wool. There are so many colors you can turn copper just with a slight torching.
As for non-useless gears: You could throw some animated ones on the side of a piston to give a reason for them to move up/down.
Been quietly checking up on this thread for a while and I'm very pleased with how the pack is progressing. The two packs I've sort of had the best memories of - haven't used texture packs for a while since I'm using the 1.3 snapshot, and before that I was using the mods that Direwolf was using and thus didn't want to have any inconsistencies in the textures - are Gestankfaust's Mythos pack and Glimmar's Steampunk pack, and I'm happy to see that this looks like a mix of the two artist's styles. Really digging the dirty steampunk theme you have going on, and I'm looking forward to seeing the finished texture pack.
Don't really see how I can add any feedback now since it looks like you've gotten that for the lamps, but I'll keep an eye on this thread and throw in my opinion.

a steampunk server you say... is it good? if so, send me a pm about it, im quite interested.
anyway, wool will mostly be tile and wallpaper, but ambiguous enough to pass for other things. perhaps some will have a slight canvas texture to it so it can be used as airship ballasts. however i wouldn't mind adding in some painted metal, and perhaps redoing one of the stone bricks... the one with the orange and green thin bricks. i think i hate it. let's call that one a placeholder for now.
and yep, the area im working on now with the redstone items, appliances, and other functional objects will be loaded with gears and steam power. this is the part of the pack where the steampunk aspect really comes in.

Oo, just realized I haven't checked on this thread for a while. I absolutely LOVE the redstone, as well as the lamps and the cobblestone. I can not wait for the finished product.

don't worry, its coming
perhaps a bit slower now that i went and got a steam account... (trying not to let that slow me down though :P)
Seriously cannot wait for this to come out in the full. Looks freaking AWESOME just from what I've seen. Keep up the good work, Love the Redstone Lamp as well, the finished product, it's the best of the three as some have already said.

i was basically going to give up past 3 if i didn't get it right tbh XD
also, ive been working on the jukebox texture... its coming along well, but if anyone can figure out how to make a good pixel art toggle switch as small as possible, it would help a ton.
the jukebox texture. i went with an old style radio. yep, that's a wax cylinder on top. that's what disks shall be. yes, i realize that wax cylinders were long since obsolete when radios with actual tubes came out, but note that this pack has the word "anachronism" in the title.
also, as promised, f-holes.
thoughts?

Retired Staffi guess the third try did it XD
i shall eventually add ctm support to make some of them open to different sizes like they're stuck. perhaps change up the bulbs...
