im not really sure what i was going for. i made a poll, people wanted inorganic lillypads, so i went with a copped tube made into a ring, sealed so it had enough air inside to hopefully float, with a platform on top to walk on, and a sort of vent allowing it to sink a little bit so it will be stable.
I have only a couple of suggestions: 1: The water and lava, though cool, are kind of cliche for apocalyptic pack (green water and radioactive lava)so I suggest a dark blue for water and a deep red for lava. My only other complaint is that the ores are kind of cluttered. Other than that, everything looks great. For the lillypad, I think a mutated plant with a tall purple or green flower or leaves of the same color. You could also add teeth the inside of the flower.
the water is green because its qualified. perhaps i could go yellower, however...
as for the lava, its not radioactive waste but lava polluted with metals.
the water and lava you describe are exactly what appear in the end is extremely nigh, a popular apocalyptic pack.
as for ores... i was thinking of doing something with CTM for them.
but i really like the idea of having toothed plants. definitely doing that!
It looks nice. For wheat why dont make each phase different not just wheat growing. You could do something like specific patterns/marks on each one.
what, like a different plant? i'd run out of ideas XD
but yeah, most packs lack variation in their wheat. most just have the same thing changing size, very few even have it go from green to gold as real wheat does. it would be neat if mine had lots of unique stages though.
Maybe it could start growing as normal wheat, die ebcause of fumes/whatnot, then mutate and refuse to die like the trees, ends up all weird.
5. ????
6, Profit.
First of all the sapling looks great to me, secondly whears the dead stage of the wheat that imnumberfour suggested and thirdly Im glad you went with my idea wheat to be different in its stages.
i couldn't really fit in a dead stage, so it just went from normal to mutatant/semi dead looking in its final stage.
Vines (which were sort of inspired by fig tree roots), dead bush, redone pine sapling, yellow flower, jungle sapling, and sugarcane.
i also made a much better birch sapling, but i forgot to screenshot it. i guess you'll have to just wait for the next test release if you want to see it, which is getting close!
but now i desprately need ideas as for what to do for the top of the log texture, since all my logs are different, and not logs.
I love the incredible variety the plants are getting.
As to the log ends, I would go for a polished tabletop surface that shows the grain, like something cut across it down to the atomic level or so. I figure your time shift would probably have taken things different directions and would cause such damage. Plus, it should work reasonably well with most of your "log" types. That's the best I can come up with on short notice.
Those look amazing! I know this, when finished, will be one of the few i would commonly use to play minecraft.
i rather hope so! also, oddly placed general question time: there are a few textures im not quite satisifed with (its a personal choice, they look fine as textures, i just dont like them)... should i redo them before releasing this, or release it so people can play it, and then work on replacing textures i dont like, so i can feel a bit less rushed. not that im rushing the pack or anything.

hm... im really not sure what you're trying to say here. down to the atomic level? like... magnified wood grain? im sure it looks good in your head, but im just not getting it. at any rate, since id already made this before checking the thread, im gonna post it.
once i write the lore out fully, it will all make a lot more sense.
but yes, the trees are wood. just... odd wood.
I'd love to read the lore. Would make what yer doing 1 gazillion times better. I have seen other packs that just make trees garbage cans and what not....which seems weird.
Look forward to seeing this...

"This may hurt a little, but it's something you'll get used to...."
here's the framework of the story... or uh, the basic theme of it without the useless, but interesting bits:
not too far in the future, for some reason yet to be decided a new, artificial particle was created that could control time by synchronizing surrounding matter and redefining its planck lenghths. chronotons could have positive or negative charges, denoting what way they move time. (time reversal is possible, with negatively charged chronotons) the physical movement of the particles (their spin) effects the speed at which they change time to be. the effect is directly proportional. a fast spin will last longest, and speed up time. a slow spin will slow down time, and a spin of something in between will keep time more or less on track. however the spin will wear off, as it can only be achieved through very specific intentional means.
anyway, these are highly unstable, and can change their charge instantly, and eventually go "dormant" as they lose momentum and are eventually synchronized into real time. this effect can be compared to that of pushing a cart up a slope. the initial force will send it uphill, even though there is a natural force, gravity, resisting. it will however run out of momentum, slow, stop, and then go back downhill as nature intends.
(the following is from the point of view of uh... steve the minecraft guy i guess, who was stuck in a frozen pocket of time)
and this is what happened. as an experiment, or perhaps act of terrorism, or accident or... something or other, tons of wide spread explosive devices that contained charged chronotons were detonated, sending these charged chronotons everywhere, which caused time to go in different directions and different speeds in isolated areas. some areas quite small, some rather huge. some people died horrible deaths, as some parts of their body aged uncontrollably and simply rotted away in minutes. rare and unfortunate border victims. cities were reduced to dust, with timelines scrambled, many inventions from the future were already known in the past, yet many common and rather old technologies were never discovered. different circumstances lead to different inventions, different disoveries. with plants and animals from the wrong eras living together, evolution took a different course. genetic engineering created creatures from works of fiction by those who mistook these works for something they were not. things throughout history that happened merely by chance were done over, sometimes working out the same, sometimes causing massive changes.
when time had resynchronized itself, everything had changed. the world had all but died. so much had been destroyed. nature had reclaimed cities, plants and animals were not the same. the remnants of society revealed it to have been vastly different from what it had been what seemed like just minutes before. advanced technology thousands of years beyond the world of before, yet it all seemed to be powered by rather archaic means, though... improved versions of such means. more efficent means. the world was broken, its remnants anachronistic. (i wanna include the title somewhere, is that bad?)
anyway, that's the basic idea. this is not the story actually written out or anything, just ideas smashed up together, so don't try to critique it on... well anything but the basic idea really.
also, i started on the cactus, but... now im not so sure about it. it looks more like a mutant tubeworm than a mechanically augmented cactus, which is what i was going for. think i could salvage it if i made the center spikes into spiky metal instruments? or should i start over? ive not done the top or inside yet.

i could have swore you put up a second cactus picture with the inner spikes more jagged and the out drill-like... and you had the top done too
This pack tests all manner of plant and fungus life in minecraft! download it, test it out, point out all the major mistakes ive made so i can fix them!
Next for me is the items and redstone. this includes pretty much every usable object. pistons, workbenches, beds, etc. this is where the steampunk aspects of the pack will become the most apparent.

Retired Staffhonestly, the growth stages are kind crappy, but this is their third and best form. who cares about growth stages, right?
I'll remember to wear armor if I have to harvest wheat any time soon. So long as the bread's not hostile...
