EDIT:at this time, tags do not work. Keep your titles formatted normally with the tags we had, but also use the tagging system so once it does work you do not have to update again. Tag searching seems to works now.
With the recent upgrade to IPB 3.2, you can now use tags to make it so people can search for your topic and similar topics.
Since tags are separated by commas, and not in the title, please use the full word without brackets.
The tags are as follow;
16x, 32x, 64x, 128x, 256x, 512x, 1024x (I don't think there will be much higher than 1024, but correct me if someone makes one that doesn't crash everyone's computer)
Themed - If it is based off of something specific (such as a game or movie), add this tag.
MC version last updated to. (1.1, 1.2, etc.)
WIP - A note on this, if your WIP does not have a download, it goes in Texture Discussion, not Texture Packs.
Remixed
Realistic
Medieval
Fantasy
RPG
Simple
Collaboration
Cartoon
Faithful
Bright
Dark
Modern
Futuristic
Pattern
Cel-Shaded
Retro
Custom - Pack can be customized with alternate textures.
Mods - If it contains textures to mods as well
If I've missed anything, please let me know.
If you use a tag that is not currently listed, go ahead and add it to your thread, but also make sure to report it here.
"I'm an outsider by choice, but not truly.
It’s the unpleasantness of the system that keeps me out.
I’d rather be in, in a good system. That’s where my discontent comes from:
being forced to choose to stay outside.
My advice: Just keep movin’ straight ahead.
Every now and then you find yourself in a different place."

Another possible tag is "Fix". This is a texture that does not necessarily change the look of Minecraft overall, but provides a slight modification to resolve certain issues with the default texture. An example of a 'fix' texture is a texture pack that changes the biome colors to more closely resemble Beta 1.7, or even Alpha/Classic.

EDIT2: wait, if only one tagged item shows aside the title, then shouldn't there be a standard of tag to use there? e.g. everyone must use a tag that represents the theme of the texture-pack - or something along those lines
Nah. Keeping it open to whatever they want allows them to put a tag like "Recently Updated" or something, and since they can already be searched by what people want, no need to limit that tag.
I'm happy with the new tagging system so I'm using them instead of cluttering the title with those ugly brackets, but I noticed pretty much nobody else does. May I suggest to make it a mandatory rule to help users search for texture packs and make the thread list more readable?

We'll be doing something similar after a little while, but I want people to have time to switch them without being told to by a mod, and to make sure I have everything (or close to everything) covered before it is enforced.

Am I being a derp, or can you not search tags via typing one in manually?
...I can only seem to perform a tag-search via clicking existing tags, which isn't as helpful
I'm assuming I'm missing something...
Click the little gear next to the search bar. That leads to advanced search (where you can search tags).

Why is it that if I click on a tag in the texture packs forum, it searches pretty much the entire forum? And I do mean searches, as I click on a tag, the tooltip says "Find more content tagged '___' " and it shows results that aren't the exact searched tag. It also does not show every tag a pack has, it cuts some off (including the one you may be searching).
I'm not completely sure at the range with tags. If I search 16x, it pops up results like 16x16, but can it incluse ones without the 'x'? If so I feel like something stupid like "I am 16" is going to be in the tag search eventually, :/
When I found out the tagging system would not be as revolutionary as I thought it would be, I took solace in the fact that users who did not use tags (or do not use them properly) would not have their posts included in tag searches. Turns out that's not even true.
Too many people don't know how to use commas. PUNISH THEM! lol

I'm working on a Texture Pack that uses colors only from the 8-bit era. Some of it's recolors of default minecraft textures and some is completely custom textures, again, only using the NES palette. I have absolutely NO idea what tags to use when I post it...

Retired StaffAlso can you add a "Simple" tag?
lol
More good tags:
"I'm an outsider by choice, but not truly.
It’s the unpleasantness of the system that keeps me out.

Retired StaffShould only be important when new items are added, or if the file is altered.
I'll go ahead and edit it in anyways.

Retired StaffWouldn't an "Alpha" or "Classic" tag make more sense than "fix" for these?

Another tag setup that would be handy is a percentage completed system, in 5% increments, e.g. 5%, 65%, 100%
