Thanks a lot for the wire The speaker looks good but I agree with gabemorningstar in that it needs rivets like the normal "stone". Which block should this be/replace? (I don't like replacing *rant*)
Good thinking. Might edit a window to the blaze so you can see the uranium inside it. The wart explanation does make sense but I think some modification of the growing texture as well as the bottlethingy might be necessary to make this more clear. Edit: I hope the wart explanation wasn't taken from anywhere else. Because there is no Nuka Cola in Last Days. It's not Fallout
I'm not a native speaker so I'm not sure what you're asking for. You want help with a personalized texture pack to redistribute on for your server? Not sure if this won't result in bad mojo:
Otherwise feel free to use the textures posted here and on the costumizer (which I still don't understand). Also there are some unused textures in the lower right corner of the terrain.png.
About the pixel art thing: you can try copy/pasting parts of already existing textures and use them to create new ones. Thats how all of my submissions came to be
On an unrelated note: Although I proposed coloring the "wheat" orange myself, I don't think I like it. Any thoughts ?
Today on "Useless features that should only be evaluated after the basic textures are done":
Animated brewing stands.
The animation is only a test and not complete (no movement in the bottle and the stand itself) but I thought I should delay that until I get feedback on how it looks and if the constant movement is too anoying.
Name it custom_terrain_157.png and copy/paste into the rar-archive (no sub folder)
And here is an updated items.png including the updated brewing stand and the bottle o' enchantment.
Next up: Alternate version of Vultrons barbed wire, now with 100% more blood and rust stains to make them more visible in front of grey walls.
And last but not least:
Name it fire.png and paste into the mobs folder.
I tried to stay mostly true to the previous design, however I don't like the rusty color set. No oxygen on the moon. Any ideas on how to change this fellow? Don't be shy
Another Edit: Long post is long.
That's it for now. I wonder if anyone actually read all of this...
The idea was not taken from some other place and i said nuka cola because in the other last day thread that was what potions where called when they were made. And the netherwarts was actually pretty difficult for me to think of a reason for since i dont play fallout or any similar game. The closest would probaly be project zomboid but thats it
I still don't get it, sorry. Of course you can use the texture pack, that's what it was made for and if you have suggestions for textures post them here.
Good to know. Normally people give me bewildered looks when i ask them to add their blood to barbed wire
Do you really like all the textures including the bubbling brewing stand and the orange water purifier?
I have to agree that the initial design looked better than the FIRE atm, but where did those Helium-3 excavators come from? Is there any lore I missed? I didn't know they had a name.
Also I'm hoping that you will use actual logs for the trees. Can't wait to see what your finished work will look like.
Do you have a link to the thread? I have been rereading all threads I could find today and copy/pasted all tidbits of lore I could find into a document, but I'm under the impression that more must exist. For example I can't figure out how and when Dokus term "cocoon" was phased out in favor for HIVE.
Here is what I have found: (Warning: That's a lot of text)
The scene is your general post apocalyptic environment, with bleak wastelands stripped bare of all vegetation. Before 'the event' that brought this world into its current state, many of the more fortunate inhabitants burrowed into the ground and created a network of reinforced caverns, or 'Cocoons' as they were later known. Little did they know that these wouldn't offer the protection that they initially hoped for. The less fortunate were left to scavenge and fight for themselves. In an attempt to distance themselves from danger they built thousands of makeshift buildings, many raised above the ground on stilts to offer protection agaisnt the various mutated creatures that wandered the wastes. These became known as 'Scrap-Shacks'. This is a place you really don't want to exist, be it above ground on sheltered within a Cocoon, it will be harsh, it will be hopeless, it will be your last days.
This is a Stone-Back. These bovine mutations are named
for the hardened gray plates on its back. In the wastes it's
plate baring skin is frequently made into crude armor.
This is the Huggatron 2. One of Orbital Industries early inventions, the second edition of the worlds first AI. Its only purpose was to be a companion to children. When the war started, and the Cocoons were first opened, The Huggatron was retrofitted to be a simple security drone. They removed its trademark hugging arms, Fitted it with a self-destruct system, and removed its voice box.
These observation drones, whether flying or underwater, were created by Orbital Industries in order to monitor The Hive and take pollution samples. They are probably nothing to worry about...
As you wonder the wastes, you will notice that barrels of toxic waste have been left by the contractors hired to clean up The Hive. It would seam, with no place better to put them, the contractors just left large numbers of these barrels in the desert since it was the least habitable place anyway. Do not get to close to them. Radiation hurts, evidently.
The Mobile Munitions Machine
These little guys were made carry extra ammunition for soldiers during the war. Orbital Industries purchased a great quantity for use on the Hive. While the war is mostly over now, these things (inexpensive and inefficient as they were) can still be found wondering about the wastes. They carry a small propulsion system which is instrumental in making your ranged weapons.
This is your only ranged weapon. The Fire Arm. While the name is quite general by our standards it speaks volumes in the wastes. It combines various elements of pre-war weapons technology into a single simplified form. It is used to fire projectiles which are tipped with a metal shard and tailed with a small fuel compartment which is ignited as it is fired. Between the tip and the fuel compartment is a hallow aluminum tube. The Fire Arm is the primary tool of bandits in the waste due to its convenience and surprising accuracy.(if assembled correctly)
The Lost. When the Cocoon were opened many people stowed away on the ships headed to them and tried to gain access. The had not anticipated that the cocoons would have such tight security. After trying to sneak in, break in, tunnel in and anything else they could think of they gave up and went on to build the scrap shacks so they could have some form of shelter. As the years past the radiation to its affect turning them into sickly mutations of men.
This has most commonly been know as The Hall Monitor. It was created by Orbital Industries to help keep order within the cocoons while maintaining a friendly demeanor.
Giant Rats. This is your primary source of food in the wastes
This is the SecurAll. It is an experimental machine created by OI specifically for their lunar testing facilities. It serves as both base security (with its concealed defensive weapons), and a hazardous waste recycling device.
The view from behind is to show it has a record player mounted on its back. This was added on the Model 2 Huggatron as a bonus feature. It is actually the ONLY difference between Huggatrons 1 & 2. It was more of a marketing ploy then anything.
Within the shattered remains of the moon, nicknamed "The Belly", Orbital Industries employees work alongside the SecurAlls to clean up their mess. These folks have been slightly mutated after years of prolonged exposure to the waste despite their protective suits.
In last days how ever its purely for decoration and is called the Orbital Industries Variable Energy Yield, ( O.I V.E.Y )
Wheat is now a water purifier.
This device is placed on the ground near most soil to absorb moisture and minerals through a pipe. Once it enters the system the machine begins to filter the toxins out of the water making it drinkable. When it is done the tank will be full of clean water and progress light will have moved all the way to the top. This water can then be made into canteens (yet to be done) which will allow you to drink the water and restore health
Someone asked about the sheep. The sheep are a simple machine created by Orbital Industries with an electromagnet at its center. They called it The Attractive Wares Retriever. It was often referred to as The Mag for convenience. It's function was to roam to wastes attracting metal scraps or supplies. After gathering a defined weight, The AWR would drop of it's inventory and head out looking for more. After the cocoons died out however, The AWR had no body to deliver the metal to so it would just keep roaming the land never dropping its supplies unless someone took them manually.
Since the AWR gathers many mechanical and electrical parts. technology can be forged by combining the scraps with various parts(dyes) from many objects in the wastes.
The way I will legitimize it is with "Shack In the Box"... I think the name says it all.
Many residents of the cocoon attempted to bring their household pets with them but were forced to set them free on the island before taking residence in the cocoon. left to their own devices the now wild dogs formed packs and roamed the wastes. Over the years the would eventually breed into a single mixed breed and their numbers would dwindle. Now many of these dogs roam the wastes without a pack to follow and make for the perfect companion in this desolate world.
Dog is after all, a mans best friend.
The following is user lore posted on Historys thread which he didn't explicitly object:
The SecurAll was designed by the genius that designed the HuggaTron. He is only known as "History", but his works number in the hundreds. The SecurAll was based off a earlier version of the ReconRobot designed for use on land. (The squid thingy). Early tests of the SecurAll showed that the small mass of the Recon Robot would not be able to sustain enough technology to keep it floating on the moon, since it has less atmosphere. They increased the size of the design, but kept the tentacles, for they proved useful in transporting masses of objects. The skin of the SecurAll was made from non-recyclable Plasma Cells, which made the SecurAll resistant to toxic wastes, small arms fire, and such, perfect for moon operations. However, when the Orbital Facility on the moon was destroyed, the AI control center was destroyed, and as a result, the SecurAll turned rogue, firing at anything and everything possible, with it's concealed weapons.
The HuggaTron model 2 was developed soon after HuggaTron 1. The HuggaTron 2 was less common than the HuggaTron 1; HuggaTron 1 and 2 have minor differences in AI coding, but the main difference was that HuggaTron 2 was installed with a record player on it's back. Most HuggaTrons 2 were converted into walking advertisements, and such, and some were used as nursery care-takers. When the war started, most of the HuggaTrons 2 were converted into Kamikaze bombs, but due to the lack of time and money, the Record-Players were never removed. Some HuggaTrons still have their music discs installed, and presumably intact. HuggaTrons 1 never survived the war, due to their weak structure, poor construction materials, and overall, being worse than the HuggaTrons 2 and only HuggaTrons 2 still exist.
The HIVES were not eco-friendly. As such, they could not find a way to dispose of their trash. So they dumped it deep into the deepest of caves. Some HIVES near the ocean dumped it into the sea. As time went by, the trash in the sea got washed up into shores. Among the trash and stuff, one of the most common things you find is the tip for the fire-arm. You can usually find it 1/4 each time you search through the garbage.
Snowy Biome=Texture Pack Convert=Trash World "Some time after the Huggatron, Orbital Industries took the task of removing garbage, improving the world. This project was scrapped, but when the moon exploded, the crates were thrown in the garbage dumps, along with any unstable machinery. The first plan of Orbital Industries was to minimize the garbage to an atomic level and can't be seen by the naked eye. This made trash invisible, but also a threat to being inhaled. So, they made the atoms more close together in a machine which produced random forms called 'flakies' that would form a compound much like snow. Also, these recycled trash bits can be collected and can form a semi-solid wall. The second plan of Orbital Industries was to use water, to 'freeze' bacteria and viruses'. Lastly, they had created 'recycled' shacks from the 'flakies'."
Crops=Texture Pack Convert=Quick Start Rations QSR it was usually called. Quick Start Rations are nanobots with the task of constructing organic treats. These have been able to produce ration biscuits that heal some health of the lucky survivor. The QSR was a big success considering it had a long term effect on a users life span.
The Mysterious Mr. History and Orbital Industries
The year was 1948, A young inventor calling himself "Mr. History" was elbows deep in the creation of the worlds first artificial intelligence. He called it The Huggatron and fancied it mans best friend since the dog. The Huggatron was primarily designed for human companionship. It came complete with full mobility, a voice and emotion emulation system, and the means of completing simple tasks at its possessors will. When The Huggatron was nearly complete Mr. History sought council with a series of wealthy and powerful men. "Gentlemen," said Mr.History," I present to you, a machine unlike any you have ever seen outside of the cinema. Naturally, I would not have asked to speak with you if I had not something magnificent in my possession. With me, I have a device that will change the world as we know it. This is a device that will touch the minds and the hearts of people the world round. This device will define our voyage in to the future. I present to you, the worlds first Automated Man, The Huggatron!" Naturally the men were eager to invest, Mr.History quickly gather a fortune which he placed into founding Orbital Industries in 1951. Three years later in 1954 He released The Huggatron. As expected, It took the world by storm. The Huggatron sold by the millions at a less than economical price. Within six months Mr.History was able to pay off all of the investments plus interest and protect Orbital Industries autonomy for good.
Six years, 3 Editions of The Huggatron, and billions of dollars later, Orbital Industries announced that in three months it would embark upon a voyage to the moon. Many could not believe that such a thing was possible, yet, they had not believed in robots either. On October 30th, 1960 Orbital Industries landed on the moon. The whole world watched as a half dozen men planted the Orbital Industries banner at the Landing. After the footage of the landing was played for the world Mr.History went on a press trip and met with the leaders of all of the worlds super powers. He announced privately to each of the world leaders that he was establishing a weapons testing facility beneath the earths surface. Access to the facilities would be public, however it would be at considerable cost. He told each of the leaders that many of the others had already paid in advance for early access to the facilities and they would be left behind if they did not get on board. As expected, almost every country forked out the money to use the facilities before they were even opened. Using the money invested by the governments Orbital Industries was able to open its testing center in 1964.
And finally Atom Craft lore (including Dereks lore about B&B Dev)
After the moon was destroyed and the world all went to hell, hardly a fraction of the earth was left unaltered by the events. Only small islands, isolated from the world at large, were unharmed in the wake of nuclear war. Time did as time does, and unmeasured years later, inspired by the horrors of the new night sky, the islanders developed the technology to discover what lay beyond the seas.
What they found, amidst the very unfamiliar plant and animal life, was the massive and expansive ruins of An Orbital Industries Cocoon.
BIONIC & BIOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENTS!(B&B Dev.) B&B Dev was created about 20 years after orbital industries, they were aware of the problems orbital would create, and they prepared, they knew the destruction of the moon would effect everything from buildings to food, so B&B Dev produced the perfect crop, insta-wheat, and it was revolutionary for the world. Over the years it fed everyone perfectly, but then a pandemic started in a replacement of a major chemical in producing insta-wheat, which made plant life grow rapidly in animals who consumed it, overgrowth happened from the mass dependence on insta-wheat, and riots started, and technology was reduced to the tribal stage. Creatures became even more savage, and some humans who were heavily infected with the plant disease were still roaming. Some Plant mutants, more human like ones, would fall apart quickly from the shock of seeing bright sunlight and would burn and usually die from this. Others, however, Grew new limbs and became quadrupedal , while their arms fell off due to lack of need, and they developed the ability to explode with the power of a hand grenade, whilst releasing spores of the pandemic into the air, when killed without the explosion, they release a sac of the explosive fluid in their body. Some infected, were reduced to the core body, and grew several smaller limbs, and became used to the daylight, and a bit calmer during it, when killed, these spider like mutants could be cut open for a strong thread like substance that could tolerate a gunpowder-grade blast.
Now during this, orbital was not entirely dead, they still had simple fabric carriers and mobile munition devices and swimming scanners in the sea, though all of these OI Automatons have plants inside them, due to being in storage for 5-10 years.
And finally here is some stuff I found while rereading:
HalphPrice texture for a transparent custom_portal.png. I like it.
The mysterious netherwart bottle I mentioned a few posts earlier apears to be a leftover from another update by HalphPrice. I found growthstages but I'm not sure what to think about it. I don't like the texture but on the other hand, the mushrooms we have atm don't make much sense. It's the moon. No oxygen --> No mushroom. Should I post the textures?
And lastly here is the best language button I could come up with:
gui.png in the gui folder.
Edit: There is no gui for the alchemy window. I can't do that since it's too complex for copypasta or pixelart.
oh snap the netherwarts are jar things when planted on the moon.Well that probaly just adds that netherwarts require oxygen to grow and so the jar provide it... and so on since im not in the mood for another lenghty post as i already posted 3 shorter posts today already
It appears you are using another version of the texture pack than the one in the download section. I couldn't find a working link for Halphs packs only a WIP items and textures png in the thread. But the bottles of this version clip through the pedestal of the brewing stand. Would you mind posting your terrain.png or the brewing stand texture?
You might want to consider coloring the speakers the same way as the in-build radio speakers if youre going to match them with the radio (exept of course if it's supposed to replace black wool). Also some additional detail (like the red light you mentioned earlier) would be nice. But that's just me thinking.
Also here is Halphs netherwart and my orange "crops" for anyone interested and without access to Halphs texture packs
Personally I'm not going to use the new crops. It just looks sickening.
Hahahah I did that right after I posted the picture, I would upload now but this is a last minute post before going to school.
Okay, but the robot still has to see what it's doing right? On the other hand, that probably explains why the player can't visit the Robo Doc for medical attention XD
And thanks a lot for your icons and textures, that stuff is sooo good . The dart harpoon and the diamond tools are so much better than the current versions. And I really like the rails and water canteen.
I'll try to make something out of the brewing stand once I'm less stressed out.
A question though: Do you really use this tall grass texture? It does make sense but it looks really wacky in large numbers
And sorry for distracting you
Glad you like the CO2 Nordenfieit (Dart gun) and the diamond tools are alternates someone posted on Croco's thread. It's supposed to be some militarized nuclear charged tools for more effectiveness, I think they are very sci fi.
And yes, I do use that as tall grass, I like it, especially in plains.
I am typing fast because I have to go to work in 3 minutes as of now.
The pack can't die, This is more community so as long as there is one person willing to update it, me, there will still be a continuation of Last Days. I do apologize for not saying anything for 2 days, I was at this massive party and woke up next to a Wal-Mart (Please don't ask because that is about all I know).
Raider Villager looks good, I will make some differences between him and actual Raider and release him as villagers.
I plan to release all the mobs and textures at one time so I don't have to continually work on Last Days. Getting pretty close, Just have 1 more villager, the legs of the EnderDragon and to some touch ups to it, and make some jungle leaves, and finish MY enderman.
