well theres the silverpearl plants that grow under the silverwood trees, they could hold some form of mercury based coolant for the trees
theres cinderpod, a plant that grows in the desert, gives blaze powder. it could be some kind of debris that contains trace ammounts of helium 3
and the Greatwood trees, ermmm, they could be a variety of real tree that was sturdy enough to survive the devastation, but the effects have turned the wood of the tree hard and unprocessable, giving it the name Ironwood or something like that
There is already ironwood in twilight forest, and the name just doesn't fit very well. I would suggest rockwood, as the radiation merely hardened it, presumably making it more similar to stone than wood. Ironwood makes it sound ferrous, which would be incorrect.
Well, I settled on O2 canisters for the emeralds in my lore. :3
Reasoning: The Masked have difficulty with breathing normal air, which is why they wear gasmasks, but they have to take off the masks sometimes (definitely for eating, and I would think for more intimate encounters). So, they use compressed oxygen to help their weakened lungs when not wearing the masks indoors, not to mention helping them have enough stamina when 'farming' and such. Since separating hydrogen and oxygen from water is a child's science experiment (and they buy chemical batteries in the form of charcoal), it's not hard to refill the canisters, but the airtight canisters themselves hold some value as a manufactured pre-war item. Since coccoons in mountainous regions had less access to surface oxygen, emergency O2 supplies were stored deep underground in case insufficient decontaminated air could be processed from the surface. Enterprising survivors can take the O2 canisters from these caches and use them to trade with Masked. With enough air filtration technology, one can also craft a working air purifier (emerald block) to keep their wasteland stronghold safe from lingering radiation and polluted atmosphere. This can be used in conjunction with other machine components (beacon pyramid) to produce a healthy environment for a H.I.V.E. survivor.
Hey, I looked in the texture pack's folder and saw that it had a skycolor0.png that's supposed to make the sky a sort of greenish color; however, for some reason my sky color is still blue. I installed MCPatcher and everything so I was wanting to know if I did something wrong, or if the sky color thing for texture packs just doesn't work atm.

it use to work as far as I know but the new update that eliminates the need for mc patcher for hd textures has screwed around with alot of things like ctm and so forth.

You people do know that mcpatcher has a convert option to fix the ctm issue and separate the texture files correctly right?
Download mcpatcher and obviously download the last days texture pack. Make sure to have last days in the texture folder at your minecraft directory then run mcpatcher. On the top right there is a convert button click that and select last days. It should then correctly separate the ctm sheet correctly. Then run minecraft and select the texture pack that should read mcpatcher-converted-LAST_DAYS_1.5. Ctm should work correctly after this.

Oh, so even if I don't want to use mcpatcher it's at least capable of fixing CTM before I torch it? At least it's finally useful to me >:3
I'm currently working on a pack for Xie's Mod that will alter how a few vanilla gameplay mechanics work to better fit the Last Days experience, mainly to fix the overwhelming amount of self-replicating 'mechanical devices' (read: water purifiers, SITBs, televisions, supply crates). Presently I'm updating the wheat block from a crop to a bush. (When fully grown, punching it as if to break it reverts it to growth stage 0 and drops 1 wheat. Breaking it before it is fully grown destroys the bush and drops 1 wheat seed. If left alone it will continuously regrow when harvested. If you want to expand your farm with additional bushes, go beat up more tall grass or farm bone meal!)
Also in the planning stages are massive changes to pickaxes and how they harvest, in order to prolong the 'Scavenger' stage of gameplay wherein the player must scour the surface with almost no resources. Yay surface survival!
Note that Xie's Mod isn't 1.5 compatible yet, but when it is I'll make any necessary changes to the syntax to make this work.
speaking of, what exactly is our explanation of charcoal? why does smelting a scrap shack stilt give you a battery?
Oh, I forgot to reply to this earlier until I saw it again just now. ^_^;
Personally I always viewed materials gained from chopping down scrap shacks as a combination of salvaging aluminum (wood planks) as well as parts of other things (wood is used in various recipes, and I view some of the 'crafting' as actually just repairing 'stuff I already had from salvage but needed repairs to use'). Since some of the logs can be smelted into charcoal, I just imagine there are batteries up there that I can salvage, store, and repair in certain quantities as needed.
Also as a corollary to my above post, one of the things I want to tweak is making vanilla leaves drop various pieces of salvage instead of saplings (and have some kind of crafting recipe for saplings). I'm open to suggestions both for dropped salvage and for sapling recipes! (4+ logs of the appropriate type in the recipe are a given).

yeah i think this explanation for the emerald ore makes a lot more sense than the old one. also like how it explains how you come to find them in the H.I.V.E.s
Hey guys. Don't post much, but i have been away for personal reasons. I will be missing in action for awhile from now on to who knows when. I will probably stop in every once in awhile, but other than that updates may be a bit delayed and I will probably be out of things. I will make sure to get back into things as soon as possible and get back to my daily check-ups on the topic.

On an unrelated note, I noticed the language pack is horribly outdated. Are there any plans to update it in the near future?

It is.
Maybe if you ask nicely and wait patiently? Or you could work on the update yourself if you're impatient (it's a community effort, after all).
