I have an Idea for the EnderDragon, I drew it out on paper.
I call it the CSR-1913. Pretty much like a vertibird from Fallout. In order to do it (if the ender.png doesn't f*** everything up) that You can remove the head, neck, and tail. So that it is "Hit box" accurate. and Make the cockpit of the Helicopter the front and front sides of the body, and "Wing-like" propelers would go where the wings are currently, and the legs could be either broken down guns or landing gears.\
Just a thought

Whut? Blue water? What's happening?
Anyways, the purple thing was a wisp. They also appear at aura nodes when your flux level gets too high. I imagined them to be node guardians, similiar to the holographic VI drones in Mass Effect.
Your explanation about alien portals makes sense to me, could you try to find another totem site and see if it always spawns scientists?
funny you ask i found another an investigated it and sure enough there is a pigman spawner right under the center block so ya and the blue water is because im not using optifine i just used the fix that forge does it makes 32x texture packs work just no custom water.....
Hm, I need to write some thaumcraft lore some time.
Anyways I made a wizard.png.
The "Diggers" are a bit loony, even for Masked standards. While normal Masked focus strictly on survival and salvaging pre-Event tech, diggers hunt for "alien" tech only. No one takes them serious and they are only tolerated because every now and then they do find a mysterious and helpful gadget.

Edit: Just found a bit of lore for the mega-amobea which I co-wrote with Gizka back when he was still active. The thing is, I was so sure that I already added this to the lore thread, but I can't find it anywhere. Does anyone remember reading this before?
“Sit down and listen to the tale of the Mega Amoeba. Once upon a time there was a H.I.V.E. scientist.
His name doesn’t matter but he was half balding, wore glasses and researched some slim slobbery slime-bacteria like every good scientist does in his leisure time.
One day the scientist was very hungry and decided to start his lunch break early.
He first got some delicious tinned apple slices and ate them, hmmm.
After that he got some fresh carrots and ate them too, HMMMM.
And finally he reached for his lime jello and … accidentally dropped it!
Unfortunatelly for our scientist it didn’t fall to the ground where it would have been still good but into a petri dish instead.
For those among you who don’t know what a petri dish is: It’s a small town in bowl where bacterias live, work and worship their snot goddess. But that’s another story that shall be told another time.
Now listen! The jello fell into the dish and a hungry germ called Bob crawled onto it and ate it all. He became so fat that he couldn’t walk anymore and could only move his massive jello-body by bouncing around.
The scientist was quiet fascinated by Bob and did some spooky science stuff and research to him.
When he was done he fed Bob with kitchen waste because Bob seemed to eat everything organic.
Within no time Bob had grown from the size of a bobbing basketball to bigger than the scientist himself! Over time the scientist grew afraid of Bobs growth and tried to smash him with a hammer. But instead of dying, Bob split into two and ate the whole scientist except for his glasses.
Then the two Bobs boldly bounced behind the lab doors and started to eat every human being they came across and every time they were hit they would split into bits.
After their rampage was over the most Bobs moved to the swamp because they are suckers for mud packs and there they lived happilly ever after.
And the morale of the story: In post-apocalyptic Minecraftia food eats you!”
-Gizka, jester of the wastes
about the mega amoeba, maybe make it a bit more serious, but living jello is hilarious! btw can someone update the angry and happy villager particles? keep in mind that the happy villager particles will also be the particles for the new bonemeal after-effect
It's intentionally silly since it's told by a jester.
What does the happy villager particle look like in vanilla minecraft? Is it green and star-shaped? And when does it appear on villagers?
yay! I'm contributing to society! oh, yeah those are the happy villager particles, but they're also the new bonemeal particles in 1.5... they appear when you trade with them so much that they unlock a new trade... the angry ones are puffs of red explosions and smoke... they sometimes appear when you hurt them... really nearby villagers also do this when you hit who they're talking to... they also refuse to make another trade if that happens... so bring out your cattle prod and have fun.
Hey people i'm back with the latest news form Blackwater. Seems that they've been working on more combat related items as of late.
PulseFire Laser: (Mining Laser)
Ah now here's a real beauty, no longer must you fumble around with those old fashioned Fire Arms and their clumsy bolts, by redirecting the energy discharges from the charge rod to a high voltage, this weapon fires highly concentrated bolts of energy capable of burning through anything from sheet metal to bandits. it even comes with many different configurations for the discharge strength and pattern, making the versetile PulseFire well worth the investment. although due to the high concentraton of the beams, it does use a lot of energy really quickly and must be recharged often
SurgeBlade Sabre (Nano-Sabre)
Looking for something with a bit more finesse? Using the same designs from the PulseFire but reconfiguring the beam emitters, they have created a new melee weapon. at first looking like a simple blade, turning the SurgeBlade on charges the blade with high energy particles, effectively making it a beam sword with a metal core.
Flak Vest (Composite Armor)
although not necessarily new technology, this salvaged bulletproof vest is of Pre-Event millitary technology and provides excellent resistance to explosives of most kinds, so now you can go laugh at those huggatrons as they blow up, although they probably won't understand you, seeing as their voice processors have been missing for ages...
Along with these millitant technologies, explorers from around Blackwater have been finding strange alien artifacts and reserch has had some startling breakthroughs.(thaumcraft lore incoming)
Alien Atrifacts (Elemental Shards)
while exploring deep in the old H.I.V.E.s,some scavengers found strange glowing shards imbedded in the walls, obviously out of place, these shards were taken up to the Academy for research, and were found to be of alien origin, not much is known about them except that they seem to come in red, yellow, green, blue and purple colours, although the difference between them is not known.
Eldrian Rod (Apprentice Wand)
through experimentation, the shards were found to have a strange otherworldly power flowing through them, binding these shards to rods with gold, scientists managed to find a way to direct this power, although not very efficiently. Still much is to be learned of these aliens (nicknamed the Eldrich) and what they left behind.
Elemental Composition( Essentia and Crucible)
By directing the power from the Rod at an ordinary cauldron(they were getting rather desperate to find something that it would work on) the cauldron was transformed into a strange device that, when heated, seperated anything thrown into them down into it's basic elemental composition.
That's all for now, I'll be back soon with more exciting news from Blackwater.
i was looking at them and right now i think we need to decide how to explain the "magic", me and I think Johnny rango were thinking the twilight forest to be a sort of controlled environment for biological experiment and that way the twilight forest can be a way to make more mutants which this apocalypse is lacking but we still don't know how every one else is thinking of tackling this mod...

Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I own the server for this AWESOME Texture pack. HECK YAS!
for me, twilight forest looks like a biodome of blackwater... the rather arcane way of getting there (throwing a diamond into a portal of flowers and sunshine) is hard for me to turn into any atompunk lore...
I just had a look at the wiki. Why are people so creative and pump out such big mods? If you think you can find viable explanations for hedge mazes, lich towers, penguins and floating rams, I don't see why we don't make it into a mutant area.
ya johnny rango "i think" was saying the lich could be a mad scientist, and i was thinking hedge mazes could be just that mazes for lab rats with a prize for cheese in the center making the whole forest this big experiment and the naga to be just a massive worm with an electric collar because if the naga leaves its arena it dies so the electric collar could explain that
I can only imagine what reliquary means....
--edit--
i looked it up and the description that you get for the mod is this It adds magical swag. Oh, and a gun
so we have that

Reliquiary is a pretty great mod, it focuses on gold and glowstone, and most are powered by redstone. so maybe electric gadgets? the Sojourner Staff is a long-range torch placer... what should it be?
oh how things change on a single topic when your away for one week 0_o
well, heres a few shots at making sense of having twilight forest in last days. i made these up as i went, so they may or may not be the best.
PORTALS
the portal could be sort of like the concept of jump-starting a car in a way. say the item for diamond, with i BELIEVE was a super hard material that conducted electricity (or something along those lines. been a while since i aculy used diamonds in this) could be a type of lightning rod. im not sure how the flowers would work. maybe be like a form of "directing/regulating the energy" from the lightning blast? and the diamond "lightning rod" could maybe have this trait as a sort of hidden quality long forgotten over the years.
LICH TOWER
the castles could be hq buildings and archiveing stations, and the lich, as mentioned before, could be a mad scientist OR a management robot that developed an inteligent ai and upgraded itself for combat...and is dead set on keeping out intruders.
MAZE
the maze could be a testing arena/area for the new mutants. maybe ment to test there inteligence (there are ALOT of traps in them mazes) aswell as combat abilities.
NAGA
the naga could be, as said before, a worm like creature with a shock collar, but maybe make the collor run along the entire worm, and the worm could be more of a "tunneling experiment gone wrong"
hydra
then comes the hydra. that could be an opposing company's reply to the company who made the end dragon (O.I. i believe) or it could be a scientist's childhood fantasy of seeeing a dragon come true...with dire consequences.
tree stuff
the giant tree's could be biological for once, maybe as a plan to revive the real world. the area of the twilight forest that is so dense, you cant see the sky could be a testing area on how the mutants would do in the dark.
PENGUINS!!! : D
the giant ice mountains with penguins could be a test site for a new extreme condition survailince bot/mutant, intended for survaying the areas from before the event that were already in the worst termoil in terms of rad, climate, and so forth.
RAMS
the floating rams, i have no idea. maybe a biological alternative to the robotic sheep? or another mechanical alternative with defense intitive components that were never implemented?
thats all i got. and i have NO idea as to weather this is all plausible or not.
[edit] look at that. post number one on page 150. WOOT! THE TOPIC HAS REACHED 150 PAGES! : D
That might work, if it could be a pre-war biodome or something we might be able to do some kind of custom sky texture making the place look like it has an artificial sky.
Heres a little progress on the ss_core for thaumcraft too
