I love this texture pack. I kinda wish glow stone did not pulse but its still uber awesome. I'm gonna be using this pack from time to time niceee work!
Well maybe I'll switch it back to green then, I just prefer the gui's to match.
I was a nerd and dealt with it, having guis that flow is better than one person disliking it. It did not make or break it for me, just the green seemed more pleasing on the eye than the blue.
Maybe make a green gui variant, and a blue one? Don't stretch yourself too far to please everyone.
Looks good, but I have a problem (I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to texture packs). First time I started it, it was the regular Mojang screen, then I went into Texture Packs, chose it, then it froze. And whenever I start it with the RetroNES pack installed, it freezes on the RetroNES screen (Mojang screen). Any idea why?
Do you have MCpatcher installed?
Oh, and Brohoof. /)
Have you considered doing any mod support? Simple ones, such as IronChests Mod, Craftguide, or some others? It'd be pretty neat, but it's understandable if you don't.

If you're using any mods, that could be it. For instance, MCPatcher isn't compatible with Forge. Either way, to get the full effect of the texture pack, you need to patch minecraft with either MCPatcher or Optifine. But if you have nothing special going on with your game, it should work fine, assuming you placed the entire zipped file into the texture packs directory.
How many colors did you use in each sprite? Because the NES used only 4 colors and one of those had to be transparent.
Nevertheless I love this pack. Kudos and diamonds to you sir.
Take into consideration that this pack is a 16x, and that nes tiles are 8x8 each. That limitation is only on a per-tile basis, and transparent is not actually a necessity per tile, allowing a possible of 4 colors. Transparency is only necessary for such tiles as character tiles, or other moving bits.
However, it'd be pretty difficult to not make mistakes, due to the fact that these limitations are not actually in place while creating the texture pack. If nothing else, it's probably the closest experience to 8bit out there in terms of Minecraft texture packs.

It is probably the closest we will get but I like to nitpick
And i'm pretty sure that most NES games used 16*16 sprites.
You missed custom_water_still - Copy.png in the archive. Also, why is there more than one kind of gui/xporb files? Are they alternatives? If they are, you should place alternatives in the separate folder or even separate download link. And last one, there is an old panorama files in title\bg. Just saying.
I love your texture pack, but just a note if you are considering alternates: true 8-bit textures (not saying that this HAS to be a try 8-bit pack) can only use 3 colours per texture. Just a note if you wanted to make ridculously 8-bit alternates.

Be caring, please help my dragon hatch by giving him a little click.
I went to use your texture pack, but when I went to the title screen, I got massive lag, as in 1 frame every 30 seconds. This is only for the title screen, and when I deleted all the panorama#.png files, it worked fine, but still had the default title background.
