Over the last few days I have been working on a texture pack. I originally made it using painterlypack.net, but I was less than pleased with some of their selections, so I mixed, matched, created, and edited using GIMP 2.6 in Ubuntu 11.10 and Windows. You can view the readme for all of the changes and comments on the textures.
You may need to use McPatcher for the water and lava textures to display correctly. It may also help if you enable "Detect Changes in Texture Packs" under the "Options" tab. Other than that, this is a drag and drop texture pack. I wanted to make things look better, but I also wanted to keep some things similar to default while retaining a sense of someone new to the texture pack knowing what something is at first glance.
There is nothing wrong with painterly. I wanted a base to start from, and painterly was a good base, but it wasn't entirely what I was looking for. I edited many of the textures, and this is the result. I really made this just to please me, but if you don't like it, that is fine with me. If you have a problem with using painterly, take it up with them.

There is a rule that says "don't post Painterly packs".
There is a rule that says "don't post Painterly packs".
Firstly, this is not a stock painterly pack. Here is a list of everything that I have edited thus far as of 1-19-2012 to make it different from the stock painterly pack:
Torches (totally mine)
Ores (combination of default ores and painterly stone. Coal changed to look darker than normal in comparison to stone.)
Leaf Color (default file, because I thought it looked best.)
Lava Texture (changed slightly, but originated from Lightcraft)
Minecart Tracks (default, because I like the look)
Powered Minecart Tracks (default, because I like the look)
TNT (default, diddo)
NPC Villagers (default, did not like painterly offerings)
Slime (default, did not like painterly offerings)
Magma Slime (default, did not like painterly offerings)
Offering both normal view and expanded view on the shovel
Tilled soil colors (based on painterly pack, but lightened to match the soil better)
Side view on grassy dirt ( originated in painterly, but changed slightly to make the dirt appear better, grass unchanged)
the Pack.png file
the README.txt file
the Pack.txt file
So yeah. This is still a work in progress. It originated from a painterly pack, but is not solely based on painterly's textures. I have given credit in the README file.

So...Basically this is a painterly pack with a few default textures, and a change or two here and there.
Also, you need to give credit in pack.txt, nobody's going to see it in the readme.

If you haven't the slightest idea what I'm talking about, I probably have the wrong number.
