So, I've never actually made a texture pack before, but I've always wanted to, and although I'd seen a couple of packs inspired by Banjo, I wasn't completely satisfied with what I saw and they've all been long abandoned. So! I thought I'd start on my own.
Some items from terrain.png, and the bulk of the gui and items are from Vattic's awesome Faithful 32x, and will be replaced as I can. I totally recommend checking out Faithful if you haven't yet, which you can find here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/72747-faithful-32x32-pack-update11-support-mods-11/ .
All non-Faithful textures are either from Banjo-Kazooie or Banjo-Tooie, or inspired by the art style in both.
To Do List:
-Minecarts
-Brewing stand
-Chest
-Wheat
-Nether Wart
-Mobs
-The bulk of items.png
-More UI work, only done the health meter so far, which is now based on honeycombs
I've got ideas for most blocks but would really love to hear other ideas from people familiar with both games. I plan on this, in the end, mainly being a complete pack, beyond tools/weapons and armor because I can't really think of BK/BT equivalents.
I'll update this as I create and change the blocks, so check by every now and then.
Java is bulky, slow, hogs resources, passes out from exhaustion, and although it was big in the 90's is now typically only found on poorly designed websites. Much like Harry Knowles. So any time Minecraft crashes, blame Java.
I'd definitely like to see this finished. I started the very first Banjo-Kazooie pack under the same name (Well, it was Banjo-Kraftzooie, but close enough), but never finished it, so it'd be cool to see a finished BK pack.
Glad to see some interest already! And yea, admitedly it's not an original name at all.
Updated the first post with some other blocks that I was originally going to polish up tommorow, but are looking good enough to show for now, as well as me changing my mind on the direction I wanted to go with the stronghold textures.

Wow. It's kind of surprising how dark and creepy textures based on such a bright and colorful game can be, but nonetheless, nice work! These look pretty awesome, based on the pictures. I haven't tried it, as I worry that HD texture packs will make my game run slower, but it might be worth a shot. Good job!

I was actually a bit surprised going back through the Banjo games and realizing just how many things could actually fit into even Minecraft's Nether. The texture inside of Mumbo's hut alone looks so similar to the vanilla soul sand that it just kinda blew my mind. Also hey, Banjo actually managed to creep me out as a kid. Those damn Tombstone things that would come alive when you weren't looking.
On that note, been thinking about how I could do mobs. The slimes obviously would be the TNT crate things from Rusty Bucket Bay that have the exact same behavior. Zombies would probably be the normal hooded grunts you see around Gruntilda's base in the first game. Skeletons would obviously be based on the skeletons from Mad Monster Mansion... Snowmen of course would be based on the Snowmen from Freezeezy Peak... cows would be that bull from Mumbo's Mountain...
Endermen have the same behavior as the previously mentioned Tombstone guys, but there's really not a good way to do that for their body shape, so gonna have to think up something for the, spiders, and creepers. I was thinking maybe Creepers could be the aggressive honeybox things from Banjo Tooie.
Also updated the front post image with a better, more organized shot of everything I've done.

Updated the front post. Altered obsidian, smooth stone, bricks, and netherrack, added in a few wools, iron fencing, etc.
I'm gonna start work on the ore blocks and birch blocks tommorow (there's birch planks I can use as a base at least).

Nice Job Doctor! :biggrin.gif:
I Love the soulsand with all those Mumbos on there
It's pretty quickly going to become one of my favorite blocks to build with, I think. Once I'm done with the texture pack, I want to build a nice swamp town, and it'd be nice to do it like Mumbo's Hut. Due to this! Expect soon for a block to be added based on the texture of Mumbo's outer hut. I've just been split for a long time on if it's better as gold or a yellow wool block. If I make it gold, then I'm going to go back and change the diamond block to something else as well.

Added a cactus, a bed, each ore block except for lapis lazuli, a wooden door, birch block, and the other two leaf blocks to the preview at the top of the thread.
I'm thinking of just making the wools a more solid, soft, smooth, uniform block for building rather than using BK textures, maybe having them have a similar texture at least to the textures used on the red and yellow parts of the snowman on Freezeezy if anything.

Got a bit more work done for the day, couldn't sleep so did clay, a sapling, a workbench, and the lapis lazuli ore block, updated the preview post to include these.

Updated the front post with the 25 completed paintings, as well as a to-do list. I might end up doing the release once I've got torches, minecarts, and minecart tracks done, using probably Faithful 32x for stand-ins if I can get permission to, then just keep updating as I replace stuff after that.
I might end up changing the current stone brick/mossy brick/cracked brick blocks for something based more on the Mayahem level of Banjo Tooie.
I'm also going to be starting work on my own little Banjo-Kazooie LP tommorow to help give me ideas for everything I haven't taken care of it, so hopefully will be inspired to do quicker updates!

Got some action shots of how things are looking so far.

I really love the idea. I'm a big fan of the N64 Banjo Kazooie games.
The only problem is that it doesn't really remind of Banjo Kazooie as of now. Maybe it's just my fault for not having played those games for many years.

Don't worry though, the textures are great.
