All the variations intend to be complete overhauls. This is going to be my last post for two weeks, as I'm going to get an early bedtime and tomorrow I'm going on vacation!
And Ill be watching the thread and answering any questions I can for Thistle until her return.
Do you know if Thistle is going to add any more armor textures later on? I know its her theme as of now, but I would like to know if she's going to add any armor textures that actually look like armor... as in armor that shields most of your body.

I dont, but I would assume it is on her list. She will probably take into account suggestions for the armor, but there isnt a whole lot that can be done for extending how much the armor covers, simply because of the way the file is folded up. There isnt room, or at least not much, for arm extensions, for example.

Yea, I just mean something that looks like actual armor, because the diamond armor as of now is something of a fantasy... priest clothing?
And the iron armor seems like a sort a chainmail mix.

Well you must remember, Thistle makes this texture pack how she likes it, and herself alone. It is here for download for those who like what she has done. I would assume she doesnt have plans on changing it if it is already done.

Well, there's two factors to consider here. One is that I strongly dislike texturing armor. The other is that I just got home from a two week long medieval reenactment event and spent hours in armor yesterday, running through the woods and throwing myself shield-first at the enemy lines. (I totally sent someone head over heels) So after all this exposure to really, really cool armor... the odds are about even for me making new armor.
Greetings Thistle I'm probably not saying anything you haven't heard before, but I had to praise the hard work and immense detail you put into everything in this pack- for all the "fantasy" themed packs out there, it's disappointing how bland a good number of them feel. It's awesome how the "flavors" can completely change the feel of a minecraft setting, while still having a sense of an open theme for people to insert their own imagination into it. I was looking (in vain) for a pack that captured the feel of the "neolithic" time period with a bit of fantasy, and a quick trip to the customizer gave me something more than satisfactory.
I don't know what your thoughts are on suggestions and/or requests (especially with the effort and work you're undoubtedly putting into the pre-existing textures, and even more so due to the recent update) but since they're already in my mind I figured it wouldn't hurt to see what you thought. Maybe a "prehistoric" set with primitive tools, weapons, and furnishings, perhaps with cave paintings as the art? Or an "early modern" option with a renaissance feel? Maybe more "cultural" options like middle eastern or ancient mediterranean? On a more specific note, something as little as a shepard sling and/or javelin option for the bow would be awesome. What do you think?
Keep up the great work and enjoy the update! (which I have yet to try out XD)
Hey Musket, thanks for the comment! I'm glad this pack works for you.
In regards to requests: I do take suggestions. I'm always thinking of new things to do, and while my current workload is pretty heavy it's not like there's a deadline on it or anything that'd stop me from writing down new ideas. I think I might actually slide some of my ideas forwards and work on them now, as I hate trying to do textures when I don't have any good ideas for the texture I'm working on. I've been thinking doing a steampunk, modern, and sci-fi theme. I'm also thinking about maaaybe a middle eastern theme, there's a lot of beautiful designs in their architecture, and a Native American theme using Oklahoma as a base for terrain (the red soil would be cool). I'd have to do more research on Native American as while I've got some background, it's not nearly as extensive as my medieval knowledge or even my middle eastern stuff. I've been asked to do a Norse theme and since I'm part of a medieval reenactment group I'd probably want to do Norse/Celt (the art styles overlap a bit), a "classic" medieval with the gothic architecture and what most people think of when you say medieval, and maybe a later one from the romantic era. Not sure where renaissance would fit in with that, it'd probably overlap a bit with classic and romantic. I like the idea of a prehistoric set, could get really crudely nailed planks and flint weapons. Oh! Animal skins for doors! I also got asked to do an Australian theme but honestly, I don't think I'm going to as I believe I've seen a pack out there that does that and I know zilch about Australia. By ancient mediterranean, do you mean Greece? I'm... not a fan of ancient Greece. Roman might be cool though, it's pretty close to ancient Greece and I find that culture more interesting.
I'm trying not to overlap with texture packs I like... the corruption theme is pushing up against the Isolation pack, but I'm trying to keep it different enough to not compete. I don't want to compete with Glimmar's steampunk either, or this other one I've seen and am totally drawing a blank on, and I think I've got a different enough angle so that won't happen.
But at the very least, I can do a sling and javelin. Maybe tonight when I get home, I need to update the bow for the different flavors anyway.
Maybe can i help you to update the Wolfhound pack ?
... at the last 2 weeks i playing a little bit around with photoshop & and yor Interface at the gui folder i youse a bit of the art works at the arts folder to do a diferent look 4 the interface mybe you like it :-7 and i Build a achievement interface only wite the pices of youre pack
Thank you, but I prefer to do my own textures so that I have the layers and can go back and tweak stuff if I want to add more. I appreciate the thought though, have you considered making a texture pack of your own?
I was going to work on textures tonight... but I decided to go drink and practice the harp instead all night. I got a wedding I'm playing for this weekend. I'm starting to regret agreeing to this, hence the drinking.
