Help with Texture Packs

I have a mac. I have MCPatcher and HD definitions checked and patched. I download a texture pack. But it turns into a folder so i compress it into a .zip file and put it in the texturepacks folder.

It appears on my minecraft under Texture Packs but i cannot open it. The new texture pack appears as a black and white icon.

Also, i have Minecraft 1.0.0

What is the problem here?

Don't zip the folder, zip everything inside of it.

is the actual texture pack folder within another folder? You need to have the texture pack inside of only 1 folder.
