Hi everyone. I have a very noob question for you, I read tutorials and searched but can't find my answer in all the information out there.

I am trying to edit the GLASS in the terrain.png to make it look better. So far I have had no trouble with that. I made my glass look like it has a wooden frame around it.

My problem is I also want to be able to have glass windows with rock and metal frames, but I can't figure out where to put them on the terrain.png.

My first and only guess was to put them on the purple squares, but that doesn't work.

This is my terrain.png. You can see my edited GLASS and the new glass in the middle of all the purple.
Am I doing something wrong and can those purple squares even be used for new things?
Also, how do I name the new windows when I make them?

No. They are markings for unused block spaces. In other words they mean nothing and won't be recognized
by the game as any in-game block.

It doesn't work because their is currently no block value there. Meaning you would need a mod to make the blocks there

The purple squares are unused by minecraft. The glass is above mob spawner, you can't add any others unless you mod your minecraft somehow.
