Thanks for the kind words. Sorry about your eyes. I may either rework this pack or do another pack based on EGA (64 colors instead) graphics that would be less harsh on the eyes. Think early SNES. or games from the late 80's
it's ok i'm grateful i can still see, i took abilify, muscle spasms is a pretty bad symptom it has. and i got eye twitch from it, but i count my blessings because the effect can be permanent and i could have gone blind i bet.
but i think lowering the contrast a bit might help, but only if you want to. i could try it out, minecraft does have a brightness setting i can always turn it down if i need to.
it looks like you put alot of effort into this so the least i can do is try it out.

I have been considering...modifying this pack... for some time. Though now that I think about it I may have an interesting idea.
I think what I am going to do is make several versions of this pack based on the different eras graphics. Hmm
1980-1984 CGA would be a 4 bit color system (16 colors) and would be a 16x pack. This would probably look the most similar to what remnant is now
1984-1987 EGA While still an 4 bit color system this would have a slightly different color palette that would be easier on the eyes. It would also be 32x
1987~1992 VGA while this term became ambiguous in meaning it originally meant a graphics system in which a total of 256 colors could be displayed simultaneously on the screen. This pack would be 64x
It's just an idea. This concept would take an immense amount of work and research on my part. But, thankfully, the color palettes are already there. :smile.gif:

This texture pack reminds me of Meridian 59, I loved that game but I don't play it anymore. Not sure why probably because of minecraft.. :laugh.gif:

that would be cool. but yeah it would take alot of time. i went back to saphax's comic style texturepack, and from then on i found a stronghold and i'm trying to get to a point that i can make it my new home or base of some kind.
cga isn't that like an early color used in tvs? yeah back the 256 colors was something, now we have high def tvs with millions of colors in a small section of the screen, it's amazing when you think about it.
it's mostly white that gets me, but others do it as well, i had to change my fallout 3 hud to amber and haven't been able to use any other color, i change the color and am met with instant pain.
honestly floresent lights in our house are far worse, i made it a rule that only incandescent bulbs can only go in my lights ever.
but for now if there is a change i need to make i'll handle it. don't want to dump a ton of stress on you.
but i do have a question do colors in general mean the different lighter and darker shades as well as completely different colors? you seem to know a bit about this, me not so much.

The old CGA based video displays actually used a lot of different palettes. CGA could only display a total of 16 colors but those colors were sort of open for interpretation. Comadores had a different palette than IBMs which had a different palette than Apple's and so on.

oh so each company had their own color choices, cool. we used to have an old tv it had a greenish tint to the color in the screen. but i don't remember much more then that i was very young at the time.
anyway i finally got off my lazy butt and tried yours out, i like it, i can see it isn't 100% done but it blends nicely with the defualt textures and is not painfuly obvious like defualt textures in an hd pack, there are some out there like that.
i love the cobblestone the most it looks fancy for having limited colors, everything stands out and and is easily identified at a glance which is nice some textures you can stare at an area and have no clue what is smooth stone and what is clay, cobble, etc... and as a bonus not as hard on the eyes as i thought the screenshot must have been taken a at a higher brightness, mine is down rather low. but i have to give my respect for being limited to 5 colors nothing looks exactly like everything else, the water is also pretty stands out but in a good way. i thought 5 colors was per block now i see it was 5 colors total which is even more impressive to me.
but i have to say this is one of my top favs now, you put a ton of work into this and it shows. nice work. :smile.gif:

I just wanted to let people know that I am not abandoning this project. I am currently working on another project with several other people that has be a bit...distracted. However, as soon as that is finished I have plans for an overhaul of sorts. I want to do three or four versions of this pack (yea, I know, ambitious). I want to do a;
CGA- a 16x pack using the old PC CGA palette
EGA- a 32x pack using 16 colors chosen from the PC VGA palette
VGA- (possibly) a 64x pack using the full 256 color PC VGA palette
I would also be continuing the original pack. Hopefully I can get something together soon to at least bring this up to date with 1.2.5.

Just released a minor update that includes the pants for the "cloth" armor (that I somehow forgot to include) and a language button.
Nice, I used to hear about that game a lot. I didn't get into online games until Diablo though. (which I suppose wasn't to long after that.)
