I meant that after creating each page individually, I flipped them upside-down and then put them into the book.png so they would display right-side-up in the game.
Symbol on cover is still upside down? Or doesn't really matter? :wink.gif:
On a related note, as I'm sure people are used to me liking bits and pieces of submissions here and I keep combining them... Here's A version of the enchanting book I used most of Gl0u0m's but moved the magical icon on the cover, added an illegible title to it, and used the leather looking parts from Zedarean.
And here's a green egg texture for the dragon egg if you prefer something more "emu". (might be a bit dark):laugh.gif:

This may be a bit harsh to some, but some of you that are trying to just get the textures done aren't really helping by having what I'll put nicely as "cut-copy-paste-save" textures. What I mean is I want you took take a good look at almost every one of the original textures that have any vague co-existence with what you're trying to texture and see if it really fits. What I did on my fail of a run making jungle leaves was repeatedly zoom out and in on the other leaves to see if the flow and shading meshes with what Ovo would want. Sure I'm what seems like barking orders and doing nothing myself, but that's just because I can see the potential in a lot of you to do something that would truly feel like what Ovo would have wanted. If you DO think you finished a texture, look again and again until you are sure it can at the very least look presentable enough for a once over by the other members of the continuation here. This isn't about who gets the most textures or who can make their own versions drastically different from the core.

Wow guys, just wow.. almost done all of the blocks! for all of you! I'm starting to like the textures even more than when Ovo did it (even though he's still one hell of a texturepack creator.)

The hard part with that is that each and every person here has a different opinion of "what Ovo would want". Since none of us are Ovo, and Ovo is not here to dictate, we can only give what we individually think, then share it with each other. If someone has a different opinion, they will alter what's made, or make their own that matches their opinion of "what Ovo would want". Therein lies the issue. :mellow.gif:

Though we are seeing a lot of submissions that maybe don't quite match Ovo's level of talent, we're taking them anyway because they're a step up from a 16x placeholder and because we appreciate the help. The way I see it, there's no real risk of turning out an inferior final product, because there is no final product... even after each texture has been made once, we'll still accept new submissions for the customizer. Meanwhile, the defaults remain present on the customizer, so you are free to ignore any submitted texture that you feel is not quite up to par with the rest of the pack. I don't mind seeing new submissions that I'm not really enthusiastic about using, because at the very worst I can just wait for another attempt made by someone else, and at best it may inspire me to make an attempt myself at a texture I might not otherwise have attempted.
That said, I do agree somewhat. In making a texture for a continuation pack, there are more factors involved than resolution and theme. For example, looking at items Ovo made, you'll notice that none of them have an outlined edge... that in itself is a great precedent for no item to have an outline. Meanwhile, on the customizer, we've got one blaze rod and two sets of ingots with outlines, plus other recent submissions that also have outlines. The textures are not bad, but the inconsistency stands out, making them seem like a texture made for another pack.

I agree. To take my own work as an example, look at my slimeballs. They are a good texture and they look ok, but they didn't really match the pack that much until the "dusty" slimeball. I'm not quite sure how to explain it, but I think it may be that my color choice and the shading set them out too much. My second enchanting table as well, I just recolored the corners and did some fancy cut and pasting with Gl0u0m's enchanting table. Its not really a nice table in itself and it doesn't feel like Ovo. My second attempt was much better, because I decided to 1. not just recolor the corners, and 2. actually base the corners off of the colors and design of the diamond block, making a much better texture (still not perfect, though). I think that most people don't really do this, however, is that often there are not any textures that are similar to the one you are trying to make, forcing you to try and guess what Ovo would make, which generally turns into something that looks only faintly like Ovo's work (my slimeballs)
By this point, I'm not exactly sure what's happening in this reply, so I'll stop it here. See you all later, hopefully with some more (and better) textures! ~Ambi

I've been wanting to say something similar after looking at the amount of submitted textures but didn't have the heart to do so. I haven't found most of them to be any close of What Ovo would do or just wouldn't fit in the same style.
I think what would be nice is to be able to use the default game texture for some items in the pack using the customizer website so if you don't like any of those submitted, you can just use the default minecraft one.
The way I meant "how Ovo would want" was mostly referring the statement that if you take a brief look at a similar item or texture in the main pack you should have a faint thought of maybe "Judging by his obsidian and wool, the gui for enchanting could be a bit of an agglomeration of fine silk-like cloth draped over this crude, foreboding black crystal" or "with the way his creeper is a creature almost like a giant zombie insect, the giant spiders would have a similar look that makes it appear the exoskeleton joints or almost bursting from not having much support for a bug as large as this," And I do understand not everything has a common "cousin" that was originally textured, but a large portion does if you look close enough"
Yes those are poor examples, but as I stated previously, I'm no artist or visionary. I'm merely throwing out my views at a group of hungry wolves to bide me time before they are at mine own throat. I'm using default and going ahead with doing prereleases, because I know it's difficult to get even one decent texture if you are doing it right.I will, however, put all my virtual support into a chance at doing his pack some justice and will use it once enough main textures -and good looking at that- are completed. Always remember that if you can only say "good enough" everyone else will be glad to say "this sucks," Take your time and don't feel like there is a deadline to meet -in the somewhat near future, that is-.
Thanks guys for continuing such an epic pack! I noticed no one has attempted the health/armor/xp bar stuff yet, so here's an items.png and xporb.png.
I'm satisfied with everything in items.png except for the armor and health bars (not sure if they fit in) so please let me know if they're ok or if they need fixing. Credit goes to pinky4341 for the chicken leg.
Also, do GUI textures always get distorted or is it just my screen resolution?

It works really well :biggrin.gif: I used it in 1.0.0 with my ovo's texture and I LOVED it!

Even when I try the image addresses, I'm just getting a "404 not found" page. Maybe try a different image hosting service?
I'll second that.
Always loved Ovo's style (still do!) and it's great to see folk keeping it alive and making it thrive.
Great job everyone!
