I seriously didn't mean to offend in a single thing I said. What I am really trying to say is for your own benefit. Just because you cannot play an instrument does not mean that you have a bad taste in music (although being hypocritical as a musician I find myself with a very different style of liking :biggrin.gif:)
You guys have talent for making textures, but I just don't think that hurrying textures is the way to go about ovos rustic. There is no rush at all to get anything done, and a few quality textures would be much more liked than a load of ones that are of a lower quality.
Please don't go all out on the defensive. Your work is good, all of you, but they still need refining, and as a user of ovos rustic, not a creator, I would prefer to wait a couple of days more to get a texture that I much prefer to use.
Look, at the moment there are so many alts for textures, and many of them are not being used, mainly because people are just concerned with pumping out loads of them. The textures that are very good however, have just about no alts. Its rather clear proof that betetr textures go futher. Spend an extra day to make 1 quality texture, or spend 10 weeks making as many textures as possible, even though only 1 will be used.
We usually do try to. But sometimes people disagree on things, or have their own preferences. For an example: I use an alternative wool (I hate seams) and an alternative set of rails (too much detail for "rustic" IMHO), why? Because it's my preference and I shared them with the rest in case they like them too. Other reasons for alternatives come across like this: Two people work on the same thing at the same time because inspiration has struck them both. They've both put time and effort into their work and then -poof- we've got two! Alternatively, we get one person doing their bet to scratch their head and think what something would look like because no one else will do it. They come up with the best they can possibly think of, and then other people jump at tweaking the submission. This also causes a pile of alternatives.
Trust me on this: Most of us are thinking about exactly what you're telling us when we do our work. Not all of us have the talent to mimic Ovo's particular style, and nor do we have Ovo himself dictating choices for us, so each of us already do the best we can. But we still are trying our hardest to give something of quality, even if there are so many of us trying. :happy.gif:

I'm not saying you guys arn't trying. And I don't mean to be mean, or try and tell you what to do. I think its brilliant that you are thinking about the style instead of a few pixels.
I'm simply saying its better from an improvement and self satisfaction point of view, aswell as people who would want to download the pack, that its better to throw away certain things if they arn't working. Trust me, i've had to do it millions of times. Editing videos, school coursework, editing videos especially because I care about the final product, and if I have to abandon 3 hours of work for the greater good, I can look back on it and be proud of it.
Trust me when I say this: You should stop posting here. We do consider what you are saying as we make the textures. Your preferences aren't that of others, you like some and dislike others. The people who make these textures work, revise, revise again, and probably again to get something they're proud of, then they put it here.. to be criticized? I get that you aren't very into a lot of the textures.. I just don't care. Take your criticism elsewhere and quit posting here.

Hahah No problem. I just felt like doing something different for a bit, low and behold I got PAPER! I tried to do a book but it didn't turn out as well as I had hoped, so i'm trying something a bit different. I do encourage you to do your book, because I have a feeling I may never get it to how I want it xD. Btw nice map! I might just play with it a little as well to see what I can come up with :smile.gif:
Edit: Some new maps!!! (I've included blanks with/without the compass just incase you want to do your own style.) I also included a bit of something I wanted to try out, instead of the "scribbles" or whatever on the map, I thought I'd try to do something LIKE a map that you would see when holding it, only it doesn't actually show your surroundings lol. I wonder....Possible to make animated items.png? If so that would be totally awesome!

The map seems a bit roughed with pixels all around. Chance on smoothing it out as how the paper is?
when I took the image from the forum, the black around it messed with the image, so Deadly, think you can upload the pictures with any random colored background so we can deselect it? and my map is nothing compared to his, I literally threw it together.

When you open up a new image, open up a new window, and select the background as transparent, then open the file in there. I saved it with a transparent background so you shouldn't have to erase anything unless the background is added in on your end. But, for the sake of you asking, I'll add in like...idk a pink background? will that work?

EDIT: Oh and for the leaves, just image search jungle leaves. You should be able to get a good idea from that. Too bad I'm no good with gimp besides some clever cut and paste.

FYI, diamonds in the rough look nothing like quartz crystal clusters. The first thing you need to do if you're gonna draw something that exists in real life, even if it is a stylized something, is find an example of said thing so you actually know what it looks like.
