If you open the .zip file, there should be a folder called "CTM". In that, near the bottom should be the plank CTM folders (each one labled for each style of plank or wood). Look inside the basic oak one to see what those ones are named (usually 0, 1, 2, 3, etc) Then just put these in the corresponding folders and use the exact same names as the ones inside the oak plank folder. (might be named "wood" instead of "plank", I'm unsure as I'm not looking right this moment)

The current download should have the regular oak plank in CTM already? At least that's where I got it from.

Did anyone ever figure out the issue with the messed up font/text? Or will we just have to wait for an update or something? Because it's really annoying to accidentally shut down minecraft with the texture pack open and log on to that.

1.6.x doesn't properly support HD fonts. You need to make sure you are using Optifine or MCPatcher.
This is just amazing. I spent 3 or so hours going through all 218 pages of this forum and enjoyed looking at all the images and reading all the ideas/feedback.
It makes me sad because the more I read made me notice that the people that had the best textures (in my opinion) seemed to stop posting. But still, I hope you guys continue adding new textures because it looks AMAZING and I might try to make some of my own textures to contribute.

If you honestly love a specific person's work: Try encouraging them or asking "What would your version of ______ be like?" Some people might have stopped posting due to their creative juices drying up for a while, so sometimes encouragement is needed. And if you only try to encourage each one once, then it won't really be pestering them. If your encouragement bears fruit, then they might need you again sometime.

Make sure the name of the furnace thats on (cooking) is furnace_front_on, if you have the animated version, make sure the frames go up to 59, and the animation file is
furnace_front_on.png.mcmeta
This did not work for me. Is there a difference between the 1.6.2 version 1.5.2?
I noticed the files were named "furnance_front_lit.png" and "furnance_front_lit.txt" but corrected that. However, I do believe it's "lit" and not "on" as other working texture packs use "lit"

Edit 2: "lit" does seem to work for me!! So the above advice is correct except that it should be "lit" not "on".
Other info I found out:
1: Coal and Charcoal are not separate .png files in minecraft.jar. They both use the coal.png. So if you want to use the charcoal animation, you'll have to use it as the coal animation and it will animate both. Please note that the .txt file for it should go "0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1," as it only animates one way. My preference was to make it "0*4,1*4,2*4,3*4,4*4,5*4,6*4,7*4,8*4,9*4,8*4,7*4,6*4,5*4,4*4,3*4,2*4,1*4," as it slows down the animation, though it looks choppy.
2: Compass both works and does not work! How?
Try this experiment:
Stand in one spot, put one block of dirt/stone/something solid exactly two spaces away from you in each of the 4 compass directions (basically leaving one space between you and the block). Add an item frame onto each of them so it's facing you in the middle. Now add a compass to each item frame. How interesting that, if you keep these compasses as part of your view, the one in your hand will animate as you rotate... however, if you stare up and they cannot be seen on the screen as you rotate... then the one in your hand does not........................Yet, this works through walls....? (As I was standing in a separate room and the situation was still the same, as long as the frame-mounted compass was supposedly within my screen, it would rotate. Facing away from the wall between the rooms stopped the rotation.)
3: Clock has similar dis-functionality as compass. Please see #2.

For 1.5.x the furnace is "Lit" and its .txt, for 1.6.x the furnace is "on" and is .png.mcmeta with some more intricate coding on it
I read in the permissions thing that I had to ask so that exactly what I'm doing! Please reply, I'll be combining the texture pack and changing it up a bit then posting it. I'll be sure to give full credit and all, please message back if I can do this!
Not a big fan of the changes from 1.4.6 to the new 1.6.x release. In particular, the interface graphic for the Crafting Table and the Chest Inventory are dark and lack the grid lines / separation indicators.
I'm not sure if anything can be done about it by a n00b like me who knows nothing about how stuff like this works, but I just wanted to comment on the changes.
I'm a fan of the effort but just not of the most recent results.
There is a sight issue with the resource pack for 1.6.1. Whenever you cook something in a furnace it just shows the regular furnace texture in the default pack

go back and rename it as furnace_front_on
