Hey guys! I'm new to texture pack making, and would like to have a basic idea from the community to work with. So, tell away. I'm open to all suggestions.

You should probably post this under Texture Discusion =)
Anyway though, here are some things that should stick to your mind ;3
1. Don't make a simple pack unless it is exceptional
2. Don't make an X-Ray texture pack
3. Don't make a realistic texture pack where you just Google images =P
For a texture pack you should make... hmmm
Well, I have noticed that there aren't many cartoony packs out there, and those are my favorites.... *hint hint *wink wink
Anyway, hope this helps in some shape or form <3

I'll keep this as my main idea, but I'm still taking others. Thanks btw

Use a Higher-End Texture Creator. (If you are on a Mac, Try Seashore, Its free!).
Think out-side of the box! (Be Creative!)
Do NOT use Microsoft paint!!! (Please!)Â
For a nice free alternative to Photoshop, try out Pixelmator, it is actually very similar to Photoshop and is only lacking a few select features and utilities, it is pretty good =)

Curse PremiumWell, you can't stay on the free trial forever though =/
This tutorial video shows a program called paint.net that seems to be good, and it's free.

Curse PremiumGimp is basically a stripped down version of Photoshop, Paint.NET is basically a replacement MS Paint =P
