So I have tried to create texture packs before... and they all have failed, each in their own special way. Then I had an Idea... People make these huge, hi-resolution texture packs, that make Minecraft totally photo-realistic (and they kill your FPS) I mean, I've even tried making one myself (total fail).
So what about low-res texture packs? The Painterly pack is 16x, low-res. But it still looks... different. That's another thing. People change the game so much in texture packs, that it doesn't look like Minecraft. I hate it.
So, I'm combining two things, and creating, what is basically the opposite of the Faithful Pack... Just add Sugar.
With J.A.S., everything looks beautifully clean with it's low-res textures, and it has textures so similar to Default, it's basically just a low-res Minecraft! So, I'll stop beating around the bush (even though the bus is probably dead by now) and give you some screen shots:
Well, this texture pack has apparently failed too. Most people think it looks odd and that I shouldn't make a "simple" texture pack, as they are everywhere. I don't think people are really getting what what I wanted to accomplish, so I'm closing this, and I'm not publicly updating this anymore. I am going to privately update this for myself and friends, because at least I get what I was trying to do with this texture pack. Moderators, you are free to close this thread perm, because I have almost never used a forum before, so I have almost absolutely no Idea what to do. Look forward to some more texture packs from me, though, as I will be doing that.
Uploaded v0.2, and switched to imgur -- hope it fixes the screenshot problems.
I'm going to bed now - going to work on this tomorrow though, definitely.
Try not to bump your thread so much. It looks bad and is against the rules ;3
Anyway, your pack seems very generic - this kind of simple pack has been done many times before. I suggest trying to make a new kind of texture - something unique. Try adding detail, and give it a theme.
Trust me, if you stray away from the 'simple' theme, and instead add detail to your pack, you will get a lot more feedback and more publicity.

I agree with appleslinky, simple packs are unfortunately frowned upon because they are usually very generic and the forum is flooded with them =(

I dunno, I'm pretty terrible at higher-quality texture packs.
I'll try to not "bump" my thread much. (I suppose that means post on it - i dunno, I've never really used a forum before.)

Quoting ademuth, Cheers!
Rabadashi, signing off.
EDIT: It was pretty good, but I don't think I'll be using it in its current state. The sand was a little bit strange, and grass was just green.
I guess I'm not sure of the look you were going for, but it wasn't for me.
That said, it's still a decent pack, and maybe when it's more developed I'll give it another go.
Cheers!
Good to now I'm not the only one.
Thanks! I can't believe someone has downloaded it, when I just posted this half an hour ago :smile.gif:
I'll try to fix the pictures - sorry.
EDIT: What exactly is the problem? Are they not resizing, or can you just not see them at all?
