Hello, all! I started working on this pack after seeing a this thread. I know it's way past deadline, but I still would like to share what it inspired me to make. The rules of the challenge stated "5 colors per block" (with some exceptions). I wondered if I could take this concept one step further. I decided to use a very limited palette throughout the whole pack. I decided to go with blue and red (4 shades each) plus white and black.
First off, even though this isn't my contest, I think this should still be an entry, but you get final say Steelfeathers. Second, the deadline was moved to Christmas so you can still enter!
I started with the solid stone and dirt blocks and I liked how retro and 8-bit they looked, so I thought I might just as well continue and maybe do the whole thing. I stumbled upon some issues (like hard-coded colors of birch and pine leafs) that I could overcome, and some that I couldn't (colorful sky). But all in all I enjoyed working within the limitations and I probably will continue.
Some in-game examples of what I have so far:
All ores done (they don't follow the rule of 5 colors per block, as they are basically two things in one - ore icon and stone block). Also in this picture: stone, cobble stone, stone slab and sandstone.
Oak, pine and birch trees. The only way to work around the hard coded colors for birch and pine leafs was to make them black. It's not the best solution, but it works. Also in the picture: tree trunk, dirt, grass, tall grass, coal ore, gravel.
Cacti, desert shrub, some sandstone and lots of sand. The shape of the shrub is taken straight from my Pixeludi Pack - I did the same thing with diamonds and tall grass, kept the shape but colored it from scratch using the 10-color palette. I'm going to do the same with many other items.
This is how the stone and ores look like underground. This old school 8-bit dungeon mood was what convinced me to work on this pack.
Cobble stone, sandstone, stone - just checking if they go together well.
I've also done wood planks and clay brick, but I didn't take any screenshots. And I'm not 100% satisfied with the planks.
I started a separate thread for the pack. You can find it HERE.
Regards!
Looking good! Welcome to the contest! You have until Christmas to prefect it, if you so desire. :smile.gif:
Introducing...Spudcraft! A comfortable alternative to the MC Default. It has a similar feeling to the default pack, but the colors are more... comfortable on one's eyes. It's 16x :smile.gif:
There are a few things I would like to change, but it will have to wait fore I am moving

Please, DO NOT stop work on these texture packs. A lot of solid packs have ended up
being thrown away because of time restrictions in these past two contests.
Right off the bat I can see myself playing with both Sheep's and Lilyo's packs,
not to mention the few others who have created some really nice work as well.
Deadlines might be deadlines, but that doesn't mean your work can't be completed late.

Curse Premium*Pass*
I have only seen about 15 episodes. :tongue.gif:
I would probably watch more but I really have way too much stuff that I need to watch at the moment. I need to finish off Stargate first!
The correct answer was "disaster"
but I know what you mean. It seems I have a million things to do, but all I end up doing is
stalkingcongregating with people on these forums.-

Curse PremiumI'm not finished yet. Guess I'd better get cracking, lol...
Edit: Also, I don't know the default water opacity.
Edit 2: Ok, all I have left to do is the break animation. Why is the cake icon on the terrain.png? Is it necessary?
