Hi, I'm not so much into using a full texture pack, and I'm no good with making texture packs or manipulating Minecraft files in any way. So, I have a small, (and I mean really small) request.
I like to use glowstone in my buildings, but I hate the unnatural, glowing cobblestone look of it. I was wondering is it's possible to have a texture pack with everything it's default texture, but glowstone looking more Industrial.
Yes, I have seen Dokucraft, and I do like their glowstone, but in general I'm not really a fan.
Any help obtaining this would be greatly appreciated.
There's a terrain.png in the main folder. That's where the blocks are.
Not for me. I've never done anything texture-wise before, so I have no idea where it might be.
EDIT: Ok, so I found it finally, out of place, and I edited it. However, I guess the program couldn't handle transparency because there's tons of white everywhere (yes, that's what she said) now. So, I'll fix it, but I did get the glowstone working.

minecraft.jar/terrain.png
It's just in the open- sort the files in Minecraft.jar by type and look through the PNG's, you should find it soon. After you mod it (individual blocks are pretty easily found in there), put the terrain.png in a .zip archive, and name it as you please. Put it in the texturepacks folder, and you can select it like any other texture pack!

Well, I know how to make a texture pack, but this would be easier for you and me.

How to reskin Minecraft:
------------------------------------
1. Go to on My Computer: C/Users/(yourname)/%appdata%/Roaming/.minecraft/bin
------------------------------------
2. Right-click on minecraft.jar and click open with WinRar (or7-zip)
------------------------------------
3. If you can't find a file thingie saying minecraft.jar, on the top-right of the screen it should say something like
'file edit view favorites'. through one of those you must change your computer settings so that you can see file extensions.
------------------------------------
4. Anyway, once your done with that, scrol DOOOOOOOOWWWWN to a spot that says terrain.png. this will be mixed in with all the .class files, so it will be hard to find. thankfully, it should all be organised by the english alphabet.
------------------------------------
5. right-click on it, and open it with a painting program, like paint.(I'm preety sure that paint will work easily and comes with your PC.)
------------------------------------
6. Poof! Your at the page where all the blocks are! Use paint or whatever your using to reskin the blocks you want to reskin.(probably glostone! XD)
------------------------------------
7. save it, and exit minecraft.
------------------------------------
8. Ta-Da! Your finished! it SHOULD work now. If it doesn't, I can help you, probably. I've already done this.

Oddly, Paint couldn't handle the transparency, so everything around my torches and anything else that wasn't a full block became white in the negative space. So I found a program called Sumo Paint (or something like that) and I did it again. I've just got to test it now.
@Ivysaur1996 thanks for the advice, that opens up a lot of options for me.
Try the pack in my signature. There's a couple other minor changes, but it's got less cobble-y glowstone texture as well. :smile.gif:
Cool, I do like it a lot, actually. Good ideas in there.
EDIT: Ok, hold on. I tried playing with my slight glowstone edit, and suddenly everything was white, with some black specks in it. I mean, wtf happened?

Compressing a texture pack and designing a block isn't all that hard.
So, it's possible, eh? (In general, that is. For me, probably still not) Well, I'll give it a try.
EDIT: Ok, I've looked for the glowstone png file, and it should be in the terrain folder, no? Cuz all I see in there are sun and moon png.s.

Unfortunately, there's no default textures in there. I do like their Glowstone, but I'd like to keep the default Minecraft look.
