If I open a texture pack and immediately compress it as a .zip, then open it MC, it will just be default. I don't know why, and it's really a bother because I can't test edits on the pack I'm working on now. Anyone else had this problem/find a solution?
EDIT: Big mistake, I was compressing the folder, not the contents of it.

If you used Microsoft paint to edit, then it won't work. you'll have to use an editor that can handle no color in some areas, not just the color white.
open it up. if there are a bunch of files in it then it is fine. If not then it will sort of have 1 to 2 folders:
1. _MacOSX and "texture pack name"
2. Or just "texture pack name"
3. It may also be an HD texture pack.
If it is 1. the cut paste the files inside the "texture pack name" folder into the main folder or a new compressed folder.

Retired StaffWell, at least for my mac, it uses a different method of zipping things, which messes up the texture pack.
1. _MacOSX and "texture pack name"
2. Or just "texture pack name"
3. It may also be an HD texture pack.
If it is 1. the cut paste the files inside the "texture pack name" folder into the main folder or a new compressed folder.
If it is 2. then do the same as 1.
3. to enable HD texture packs go to this thread:
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/42962-hd-texture-fix-feb22-13-support-fixed-compass/
If none of the above work it may be an error with minecraft.
If this helped please +1 the post.
