Are you sick and tired of having to root through minecraft.jar to find the files needed to make a texture pack? Well no longer! This contains all of the needed files to start your own custom texture pack! It is pretty much just the default texture pack taken out of minecraft.jar and put into a .zip file. This may be found handy to those who are new at making texture packs and don't know what files and images are needed.
How to Get Started
Make a folder to put all of the textures in, open up the .zip file, drag the contents of the .zip file into the new folder, now you can edit it!
Recommended Programs:
Here are a couple of programs I would recomend using.
Photoshop
or
Gimp
I wouldn't recommend using the program Paint, it doesn't preserve transparency. If you use paint you will need to use one of the other programs to get the transparency back.
i prefer Paint.NET over anything, it has most of the functionality, including all you need for texture packs, while being simple enough for a 4 year old!

I have heard of it but never used it, if you can get it to keep transparency then it's good.
