I've been messing around with making my own texture pack and was wondering, why do all the regular blocks that I edit change but not my chests? I've edited the chest.png in the item folder and on the texture file but nothing changes it.

You need to apply your chest textures to the 'small chest' and 'large chest' wrappers found in the items folder. That's the only way to make them show up in-game for 1.8+.
But keep in mind that the chest wrappers are slightly smaller than the chest texture on the terrain.png! And to prevent the overlap on the lid from flickering, make sure that the 1-pixel-wide strip along the bottom of the lid is the exact same as the 1-pixel wide strip at the top of the body of the chest, all the way around the chest.
No I haven't totally missed that. Will not doing the large chest texture affect the small chest texture?
Just the oposite. If you don't edit the large chest, the small chest textures will not overlap on the large_chest.png. Or maybe they file name changed without you knowing?
And this should be in the texture discussion sub-section :smile.gif:
Still not working, I've edited both the small and large chest textures in the item folder and on the terrain.png. I heard something about if you re-zip a folder that was zipped before then some of your textures may not work. I don't know if this is true though. Any other ideas?
