Hi Mopy!
I was just wondering what you'll be doing with the new jungle trees?
.....uhhh.....uhhhh.....jungle what? lol...Ok I've gotta admit I have been involved in a project that has been consuming a lot of my free time, BUT I did redo my coal ore...I had more but my laptop died, and I lost work. Jungle trees will be worked on as soon as I catch myself up on everything. Also, I need to stop by your thread. Haven't been there in a while. Can't wait to see the progress!
I finally updated the screenshots to reflect what Puddle Place looks like now. I'm hoping to have an update with new ores up tomorrow. Two down, four to go!
Sooooo.....I guess I lied. I didn't post an update with the new ores, but there will be an update super soon, and it's going to have much more than new ores...awww yeah! Ok, I'm slightly sleepy crazy at the moment because I've been texturing all day, and I would post an update right now, but I still don't have the ores done :blink.gif: . I only have three ores left, but I thought I'd give you a sneak peek of the update. In my head the update will be out tomorrow...buuuuuttttt I make no promises.
New sand looks great! :smile.gif: Though I'd probably try and work on a light source on the planks and make the cacti a bit more yellow.
Leo...I'ma kill you! :laugh.gif: I really like my planks as they are now, but I will try and tweak them later. There are more pressing things to redo in my texture pack Leo....oh yes there are. Also, I can do another cactus if you think it is a bit too dark for the sand now. I'm making an alt folder, so I can stick the old cactus in there. One last thing.....remember my bookshelf? Keep an eye out for a new one. Thanks Leo for the feedback and all the help
To anyone else interested in Puddle Place, the new update should include the following:
Pssssttttt.....hey....hey.......you...........................yeah....you..............I gotta secret for you...........Mopy............is................................................................. ALIVE! MUHAHAHAHA.
Hey everyone, I know it's been a while, but I haven't forgotten about Puddle Place, and I'm hoping you haven't forgotten about it either o_0. I haven't had as much time to work on my TP because life got in the way a bit, but I've decided to make time this week (and beyond) to do some texturing. I will be releasing a series of mini updates throughout the next few weeks that will add something new or refined per update. I'm hoping this will keep me motivated, and all of you interested!
~*~*~*~ CONTEST TIME~*~*~*~
I usually LOVE taking screenshots for my texture pack; however, as I mentioned before, I don't has as much time as I used to (for the time being anyhoo). My screenshots are outdated currently, so here's where you guys step in. I need screenshots of Puddle Place that show off the pack. I am looking for a variety of photos (i.e. desert, plains, mountains, buildings, etc. ). You can use maps (credit the map creator). The winning photos will be featured on all of the Puddle Place threads and on PMC. The person with the best overall photo will receive a Minecraft inspired craft. The winner will need to provide a mailing address via PM in order to receive the prize. If you've been lurking on the Puddle Place thread and you're a fan, now is the time to show some love and show off your creativity!
Contest Tip: I'm a photographer, and I pay close attention to composition!
Hey Gigfran :). I'm glad you accepted the challenge. The screenshots came out really nice, and I can tell you were looking for interesting compositions! As always, thank you for the support!
I love the theme. Its cute, quirky, and just cool. All of the colors are just excellent (exept maybe tone down the sand a bit), And the theme fits together nicely. But I thing I do not like are the textures. They are just too low contrasted and somewhat smeary for my tastes. If you practice your texturing and make a new puddle place, I would love it. But that is up to you. Your up to a great start.
Also, I see you have improved since the last time I reviewed this texture pack.

Cactii, thank you so much for stopping by. I'm glad there are things you enjoy about my pack, but I will not be making a new Puddle Place. Puddle Place has been and will continue to be a reflection of my personal aesthetic and obviously catered to my tastes first and foremost, and since the likelihood of pleasing everyone is about as feasible as finding a needle in a haystack, it would be moot to tailor Puddle Place to the tastes of someone other than myself.
I'm sure you didn't intend this, but your comment about practicing my texturing came across as a little condescending. I may still be relatively new to the world of texturing, but I am also a professional artist, as well as an educator. Many of my textures have been refined over a dozen times (or more), which is something that the community doesn't see. Every moment I spend working on my textures is practice, and Puddle Place evolves to reflect my growth. I agree my skills have grown, and like any good artist, I will continue to grow and refine and improve my skills. There is always room for improvement, so please trust me that I know the value of practice, and I do not really need to be told to do so.
As for my textures needing more contrast, I have toyed around with many different looks, and the fact of the matter is simply that when my textures used a higher level of contrast, they did not look good in game. This is something I will continue to play around with, as I enjoy seeing the various types of atmosphere one can achieve with varied contrast, saturation, and hue.
I'm getting the impression that you are basing your feedback on my screenshots. While I've given feedback to others based on screenshots, it's always better to download the texture pack if you plan to give an in-depth review. My screenshots are all outdated, I mentioned this a page or so back. My new sand (not pictured in the screenshots) is now a more natural color, but I will be making an alternates folder with the original sand. Also, I feel what you provided was a comment based on your personal tastes, which is fine, but I would not consider it a review.
Finally, I had the chance to stop by your thread. I can see why you don't like my textures. We obviously have different tastes ;). I was not able to download your texture pack, but I do think it has potential, and I hope that you continue to work on it. I'd love to give it a shot when I have some more free time.
Again, thank you for taking the time to stop by and leave a comment!
Thank you so much for showing your support! I'm glad it makes you feel refreshed. What a unique way to describe Puddle Place (I may have to quote you lol).
Hey Gig! Thanks a bunch :)! Also, what the heck? I go away for a month or so, and you've got like a billion texture packs when I come back? You're a madman I tell you! I want to check out your latest pack when I have some free time! It looks awesome!

I've got your back, man. You do good. I've made my own pack, it's a 32x, (I have yet to become brave enough to publish it), and I think it looks pretty good.
I've got your back. It's awesome that you were even able to make a 16x.......I tried to make one and it royally sucked. The hardest packs to make are 16x, because you don't have very many pixels to work with.
Well, Re-Reading what I have said, I came out a bit too harsh. I was only really basing on the textures that still needed improvement. You style is really good, But stuff like gravel, wood planks, birch, net Bedrock still need improvement. I love the way your sidegrass is soft in comparison to the speckly dirt, and the specklness of everything.
Sorry if I discouraged you, just keep on doing what you do.

Thumbs up for Puddle Place from me!
Awww thank you! I'm really flattered you think so highly of Puddle Place. I love working with 16x, and I'm currently developing an 8x texture pack that will be releasing shortly as a WIP texture pack. It has a very different feel than Puddle Place, and is more experimental in nature. Anyhoo I hope you'll check it out when it's ready.

No worries :). I wasn't discouraged. Also, you didn't seem harsh just a bit condescending, which is a pet peeve of mine. I absolutely don't mind feedback. I might not always agree (i.e. I love my gravel) but it's always nice to have an outside perspective to reevaluate your work, and you might see a tiling issue or something else that I missed.
On a different, I've been meaning to make a new birch texture, so I will probably end up redoing it when I work on the jungle tree.
Feel free to stop by any time cactii, you keep me on my toes!

Hey everyone sorry for the double post, but I wanted to update you on the future of Puddle Place. I have been overwhelmed at the response to my first texture pack. I've gotten a lot of great feedback, and I've learned so much as a texture artist during my journey. I started this texture pack for my own personal use, and I'm so happy people enjoy using this pack too; however, I feel that I may have outgrown Puddle Place (at least for the time being). I have been working on a few new projects, which have sparked my creativity and inspired me, so I am devoting my time to these endeavors for the moment. I will post information on them when they have progressed a bit more.
Having said all that, I do not wish to discontinue Puddle Place, and I don't want to let it die. I know I will continue to work on it, but the progress will be very very slow, so I thought I would turn to the community for help. I am looking for texture artists that would be interested in contributing to Puddle Place. Currently the terrain is still incomplete, and missing most of the new textures and a handful of older textures, and pretty much everything beyond the terrain.png needs to be completed. I will probably we working on the gui soon, but other than that all contributions are welcome. I am looking for texture artists with experience, so PM me if you're interested with links to your work.
Thank you so much for all the love you've given Puddle Place so far!
Well that was successful lol! Anyhoo, since there doesn't seem to be any interest from the community, I will be putting Puddle Place on hiatus until the summer. Since I will continue in the summer, no one has permission to continue this pack (sorry). I am still open to the idea of bringing someone else on board, and you can still PM me if you're interested. Until then check out my latest collaborative project!!

To anyone else interested in Puddle Place, the new update should include the following:
Ores
Planks
Bricks
Stone Bricks
Pumpkin
Jack-o-lantern
Bookshelf
Wool
Ore Blocks
Mushroom Grass
New Textures
Ladder
Levers
Thank you so much :smile.gif:
Puddle Place 1.3 is out now. Click the link, and let me know what you think!
Also, I will be adding an alternate folder soon, so you can mix and match textures as you wish.
Thanks for the support gigfran :smile.gif:
I'm not sure if I should work on the GUI or the items next....the mobs still confuse me, but I know I'll get there.
