you can do a lot of other things with this file too, like change fog and sky colors (in the nether too, not just limited to the overworld) control biome colors... all sorts of good stuff.
have a look at this thread's custom colors guide. it gives you a pretty good idea of what you can do with this file. it's excellent.
Yeah, I worked with quartz a bit in creative today. The regular block has matching sides/top/bottom, but the pillar/column thing is set up like sandstone, and it has a "carved" varient with some nice detailing.
UNGH, is that why my new textures didn't show up?? BLURGH... I hate rework! Okay, back to the drawing board.
Just finished up the redstone block (It's going to be a stackable computer server, neat, huh?) and the Light Detector (both on and off, it's a solar panel, now!). Also flipped the onions/beets around like they should be.
There is the unstitcher which does that auto magically i dont know the link to it but you should be able to just google it
Tinkering with some of that color.properties stuff right now to mixed success. Also trying to get some CTM stuff working.
Still haven't found where the new light sensitive blocks and redstone blocks are located on the texture sheet... it seems to be ignoring the locations on the terrain.png.
Yeah, they're ditching the terrain.png for 1.5, for a better optimized(?) system, which is what most games use, having each texture in a separate file. So, you probably won't find the new blocks on the terrain.

Int..eresting.
Does anyone know a good texture set to look at as an example of how things are set up now? It'd be a huge help in getting me organized.
Trust me, the onions/beets are switched! For realsies! Also pictured: CTM pressure plates and buttons, also a shot of the colors.properties effected "lilly trash."
CTM windows! Showing off some of the more fun selections, but there are others. Yay! Look super great in homes :)!

Wow that is super cool and i really am loving those windows.
I'm puzzling over what to do about them now. What you suggest could be cool, but holy crap is lapis lazuli either feast or famine. Either you end up with more than you could ever want, or there's none in the whole blessed world, it seems.
that's excellent. and it fits your pack so well. one day i shall figure out classic ctm. i still can't do it.
Glad you like 'em!
Honestly, the best way I've found for learning them is to look at other peoples' packs and then try to duplicate what they've done using my own style and art. It takes a bit of back and forth, but eventually I find something that works!
Quick question, any way to make the texture pack compatible with just optifine and not having to install MCpatcher ?
I know some of my old texture pack mobs where bugged and just optifine would be enough, but it seems like this texture pack requires MCPatcher. Having both available could be very important as I'm going to make this a required texture pack for my upcoming adv map this weekend.
It requires MCPatcher. The one mob that's still bugged in my pack is the Villager zombie. That'll get fixed in the next update.
Note: I will likely wait 'til the next major release for the next release of the pack. I want to make sure I get you guys the maximum amount of new goodies :D!
Not sure if it's fixed by now, but one of the zombie textures is a bit goofy
(using the optifine texture fix, which might have something to do with it) other than that, the texture pack has been one of my favorites, it's really brought Letters From a Dead Earth to life.
