Hmmm looking more on the zombies, I don't know if I like them. THe great thing about this pack is the subtlety of it. And I think the new zombies are a bit to over the top "WE ARE ZOMBIES" Maybe it's just the gore.
The subtly is in the land, but the fear is in the monsters. Think back to games like Silent Hill and Resident Evil. The setting wasn't overtly creepy, but the monsters were. The environment made you ill at ease so that when zombie dogs jumped through the window in a sorta off-putting hallway, you freaked!

That's my goal at least :smile.gif:
Hmm, ok, I can take that. But I think the face needs a little work.

Agreed. I think I need to add some color under the eyes and in the cheeks and possibly re-think the hair. He's currently suffering from male pattern baldness as well as zombification. :wink.gif:
I have some experience with 16x16 terrain (and that's about it), but I decided to try my hand with some 32x32 mobs. Zombies, in particular. There's an obvious resemblance to Santiago's, as I used his face and hands as a reference. I plan on having plenty of (simple but noticeable) variations for each zombie. The textures themselves will probably never be released. Hope you don't mind, Santi!

Hey guys, I was wondering what Items and Mobs textures would be best as a placeholder until the official textures are here. I'm specifically looking for mobs and items that at least somewhat fit the theme of this pack (apocalypse). Thanks!
Man, I hate to criticize anything in this pack, because so far everything is just incredible. But I have to say I prefer the 32x zombie designs you had before. The bloody bandages and grimy look was very silent hill in my opinion, and I think that resolution meshed better. To me, 64x mobs can't be creepy because they have these high resolution, realistic faces... but pasted on to a cube!
I know you've said you'll try to include a 32x set, I just wanted to put my thoughts out there so you know at least one person is interested in using the first three zombies!
I'll go back to my wonderfully textured bunker complex now.
Non-weapons so far! From left to right:
MRE, empty alchemy jar, jar of tomato preserves (bread replacement), tomatoes (wheat replacement), can of Yum Chow! and it's empty variant (soup and soup bowl), and then the bloated can of rotted food (zombie parts replacement).
The rotten flesh makes little sense, though. Where does the can go? Why did the zombie have an old can of meat on him? But, in such a nonsensical game, I'll let it slide. :wink.gif:
I do have a request, though. Could you change the bookshelves in the near future? It's too obviously multiple of the same texture, when using multiple.

My logic is that the zombies were just other survivors like you, only their goods have long since gone rotten just as they themselves have gone rotten :wink.gif:
As for the bookshelves, can you show me an example? I think they look fine, myself!
He means they look a bit repetitive when they're in big groups, that kind of thing happens a lot when there's something in the texture that stands out, like that letter in the bookshelves, or the scratch in the bricks. Don't get me wrong, your textures are awesome, but when textures are detailed, they look like that in big groups.
Exactly what I meant. It really limits the use of bookshelves, like with the idea of a library.
Ah, gotcha. Well, I doubt I'll be changing that. Sorry :smile.gif:
I'd rather have it read nicely in small doses than have to worry about it tiling 12+ blocks deep. For detail blocks like the bookshelf anyways. Unless we're talking about different stuff? If you can show me a screenshot of it looking not so great, I'll probably be more inclined to agree to changing it though.
For other textures? Yeah, I'm gonna tweak the heck out of it to make sure it tiles beautifully sans uber detail.

*sigh*
Well, there goes any chance of having a library in a broken down city...

Just a funny little idea I had, but couldn't you make it so the little smiley face on the can turned into a frowny face when it's empty? It would just be an interesting little easter egg.

Maybe I'm just not totally understanding your request :/
I'd like to make what you're looking for, but it sounds like it might make it all too plain? Can I see a pic of what you're trying to make? I'd like to help!

The envelope/package in the bookshelf, when you have multiple of the shelf, you can see that in every single one. It makes it very repetitive a texture. In fact, you can see it with just 2, although it's much less annoying at that amount.

Oooooooh! Okay, now I get ya! Yeah, I can do something about that maybe :smile.gif:

Amazingly detailed, as usual.

What about making it compatible with the CONNECTED TEXTURES MOD link: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/228862-unofficial100connected-textures-mod-v14/
it'd be nice to let glass and bookshelves be pretty :smile.gif: btw i LOVE the texture pack

Mobs/additional items are coming along nicely.
